I hope they review the recruitment policy for “not paying overs” on a few players, (which I agree with to an extent) but once they have been identified as players needed for success? I understand it shouldn’t be open slather, but just 1 or 2 who will benefit the team, going forward?

Scrutiny on the likes of Michael Maguire and Luke Brooks is set to intensify over the off-season with the Tigers board to conduct a full-scale review on the end of another disappointing year for the club.

The Tigers' finals drought will go on into a 10th straight year following a year that started with plenty of pre-season promises and ended with not much to show for it.

A recruitment drive that was headlined by former Panthers skipper James Tamou wasn't enough to improve results for the embattled club, which sits in 13th place heading into Sunday's final round clash with the Bulldogs.

Maguire remains contracted until the end of 2023 but that hasn't curbed the scrutiny around his position, while star halfback Luke Brooks' future also remains clouded with reports during the season suggesting the Tigers wouldn't hesitate entertaining offers from rival clubs for his services.

Tigers chairman Lee Hagipantelis confirmed on SEN that the club's board owed it to fans to demand answers after another year of agony.

While he didn't comment on the futures of Maguire and Brooks, the pair will undoubtedly be placed under the spotlight when the review is undertaken.

"It's been a disappointing year," Hagipantelis said.

"I've made it publically known that we will all sit down at the end of the year and undertake a deep review of the year that's passed and ask a lot of difficult questions but more importantly demand difficult answers.

"These boys put in each and every week. I have no doubt about their efforts and commitment and pride for the jumper but it hasn't translated with results on the field and it's just not good enough.

"We're just going to have to sit down at the end of this year and work out what we need to do."

Tigers powerbrokers have been outspoken in their past with their trust in Maguire as the man to lead the club out of this rut but patience is undoubtedly beginning to wear thin.

Defensively this season the Tigers are conceding an average of 29.3 points per game, their worst defensive record since Maguire arrived at the helm three seasons ago.

Recruitment is another issue that continues to plague the club, with Dale Finucan and Tevita Pangai Junior the latest big names the Tigers have expressed interest in yet failed to land.

Their new arrivals for next season so far include star Super League duo Jackson Hastings and Oliver Gildart, both sound acquisitions but not ones you'd pin hopes on to immediately turn results around.

"We owe it to our fans and members - there are 400,000 people who identify themselves and fans and members of the Wests Tigers and we owe it to them. They are the stakeholders," Hagipantelis added.

"They have now been through 10 long years desperate for a team of which they can be proud and a team that will actually achieve sustained success."

They need to look in the mirror first. Especially Lee’s use of the media and involvement in recruitment. The other numpties on the board should be held accountable for the multiple coaches and lack of direction over the last 10 years. They should be embarrassed of the business they are running.

Hiding behind a review is a move of the weak - let’s get consultants in and waste money because we either don’t know what to do or don’t have the balls to do it. It’s pathetic

Agree on Bynes, but burton was never leaving Barrett - he got ripped off on his contract as well

Agree on Bynes, but burton was never leaving Barrett - he got ripped off on his contract as well

Of the ones that we didn’t sign, maybe JAC would of been great, but Ken is a good pickup and we wouldn’t have got him, if we got JAC? Was never sure about TPJ? Latrell was big money, not sure we could of done anymore for him?

I did say, going forward, so I think a good centre and a bad butt forward is required, to help the young blokes keep their confidence up?

I don’t really follow the other clubs, but the Dogs Pom forward Thompson or the ex Raiders Batemen, would be interesting, there doesn’t seem to be a lot available atm? We would probably need to pay overs for either of these?

I'd turf the board and the First Grade Assistant coaches. There's no doubt Madge has the passion and drive to turn the club around, but he hasn't surrounded himself with great assistants so far.

Madge has passion for his own job only, that is why he surrounded himself with crappy assistants.
If he truly loved the club he would of got much better assistant coaches but he is scared of getting shown up how out of touch he is with the modern game.

I hate paying overs for a winger, if we are going to pay overs for a player it has to be someone that is certain to change our club.

Board is so weak that I strongly suspect theres only one person on the Board calling the shots,who apart from being easily the most qualified ....also just happens to be the major sponsor!!
And that in itself is a problem..no checks and balances
Roosters have potentially the same problem,but have always had much stronger Board members to keep the boss under control..plus hes a very different personality who doesnt need to be upfront

The club has done a poor job in junior development, pathways, talent identification and pathways. Pan kick bought and bent out the salary cap.

Hired a coach who’s one of the best at developing young players but struggles to attract top end experienced talent.

So now the solution is bring through young players and punt the coach that is one of the best in the business at developing them. Bring in a coach who can attract talent when there is not much left on the market.

Madge being moved makes little to no sense this year whether you rate him or not. Next year with some younger players further developing and even more cap space Mbye contract completely off. The club not only would have more players to choose from with recruitment but be more attractive to get a better coach.

You may then be able to attract a Cameron Ciraldo or Jason Ryles if that’s what they want.

I’d stick with Madge we will be better for him the longer he’s here in the long run. I do accept it’s highly doubtful he will see the fruits of his hard work.

Wait till end of 23 and get Ryles that’s my hope also. Unless of course Madge gets us into the finals in the next two years.

Our Board comprises a butcher, a baker and a candlestick maker. They do not have the skills or knowledge to run a review, nor run a football club.

The review needs to be independent, providing a bunch of recommendations for the board.

However the last bloke that did that (Brian Smith) sent the club further backwards.

It's about getting the right person to run the review. Someone with a sound knowledge of the contemporary game, and with no allegiances.

I don't have anyone to suggest off the top of my mind.
