Maybe a Reggie player or two…. No names

Its a bit concerning tbh, not much changing personnel wise... Oh well, not surprising

Hope I'm wrong , but no new backrowers means no new expectations

Bottom 8 side

Agree with the 'bottom 8' statement but I don't think we will be a bottom 4 side - unless we have injuries to key players.

I think we will be mid-table.

I was impressed with Moses this year. Tedesco gets better every year. ET did make a difference when he joined. Idris may surprise but we needed a big body out there. All this and if Brooks can be better and the injury gods look upon us favourably we will surprise a lot of people.

I always look forward to a new year.

I rejoined again because I can see things are getting better off field. Wifey didn't want to join again though.

Yeah the big concern is the clubs who finished below us Roosters ,Souths ,Manly ,Parra even the Warriors

I know I probably say this most seasons but I think the Warriors will fire this season

Do you think we could "manufacture" some backrowers Happy?

We have plenty of depth in the front row. Jesse Sue has played in the backrow before, and I thought he went OK. The other I was thinking of is JJ Felise. The reason I mention him is that he doesn't just hit it up - he has good footwork at the line. A backrow of Jesse and JJ might go OK. Or do you think that JJ might struggle in defence on the edge?

That is the problem Fibro

Blokes like Tedesco would eat Felise and Sue on an edge and then the centres have no confidence and the it's goodnight Eileen

Perfect example was when we beat Penrith , Tedesco owned Cartwright time and time again

I hope so. He does have heart but doesn't make the metres, not known for his offload. He is reliable in defence. IMO not a regular FG player

Lovett is a developing FG player,he may get better as the season goes on,however,he may not…it reminds me of J.Thurston, not wanted at the dogs, wasn't considered the main playmaker at the time...look how much better he did get...it all depends on the attitude of wanting to play NRL and working hard, you also need ability, hopefully Lovett can become a much better player for us...everyone deserves a chance at trying,Lovett does have heart...

Yeah TT, he was rewarded for his effort with a city guernsey this year and repaid the selectors by producing the goods on the day. The guy is not a star, but puts his head down and tries to do that which is asked of him, each and every week.

I totally agree with this, I thought Lovett performed very well in the C/C game last year, shame for him there won't be another opportunity now, but actually I thought he stepped up to another level which is what you want in a rep game.

Someone like Siro Jr, picked for about 3 (?) C/Cs in a row and did not much at all, not specifically anything wrong, but just nothing standout, whereas I thought Lovett was somewhat of a standout, not just because I have low expectations, but because he outplayed players who I feel are much more talented.

Lovett might be one of those guys who can excel in a good side, that the overall quality of the team can take him to a higher level, because he does try so hard and that level of competitiveness really shines when the rest of the team are doing their job.

Lovett could truly go from one of those Nathan Milone (the new Fitzhenry) types, where you say "what on Earth does the club see in this guy?", to "I see it now, I see what they see". Then he would become a real legend of the club, someone with average skill, average size, but with the work ethic to make an impact. People really respect those kinds of footballers.

I always like to remember how Wayne Pearce, my all-time favourite footballer, truly did not have stand-out skills, wasn't flashy, wasn't that fast, was not blessed with large chunks of injury-free time, wasn't an attacking tyro. But he was the first of a new type of professional footballer, equally dedicated on and off field, more or less cleanskin, emphasised diet and application… his professionalism, toughness and competitiveness led him to becoming Australian captain.

Now for all that gushing, Lovett isn't anywhere on that plane of existence, but he is an unashamed trier and I respect that. And don't get me wrong, I used to loathe the guy, I would have torn up his contract a few seasons ago if I was in charge.

Speaking of Wayne Pearce, I seem to remember that he got his big break when the Magpies lock/ 5/8, Jim Leis was selected for the Kangaroos and knocked it back! The selectors then chose Pearce and he never looked back. Anyway, just a bit of reminiscing.

On paper our top 17 is fringe 8 but you can say that about most teams. It like most years will come down to injuries, luck and of course the team actually improving. Last year they made some steps forward and if they do the same next year they should be in or around the bottom of the eight.Of course you have a lot of other teams with the same aspirations

Anybody seen the the latest rumours we have offered Michael Lichaa the first grade hooking spot?
Seems Des wants to move Mbye to hooker and go after Carney.

How many no9s do we want, surely could not be true. The whispers were out a month or so ago but than we went out and signed the Sharks back up 9 so I thought that would be the end of it. Can not see it happening unless the club know something about Balins knee that we don't

We will continue to be linked to 9's whilst we have less than 12 of them in our squad. He is no better than Cherrington so I think the club had shown its hand there.

What an absolute joke if we are considering him. We have Ballin, Liddle and Mcwillrick. He wants $300k, if we have that money to spend go buy a decent backrower not another hooker that is firstly no good and secondly we don't need.

If true the farce of WT continues.

Haven't seen anyone post the Squad …just looking at the player profiles on weststigers.com looks like they have done a bit of a cleanout so as it stands...

NRL Extended Squad..

Josh Aloiai
Matt Ballin
Luke Brooks
Michael Chee-Kam
Joel Edwards
Matt Eisenhuth
JJ Felise
Tim Grant
Rod Griffin
Watson Heleta
Justin Hunt
Jamal Idris
Ryland Jacobs
Chris Lawrence
Jacob Liddle
Jack Littlejohn
Wes Lolo
Esan Marsters
Matt McIlwrick
Mitchell Moses
Kevin Naiqama
David Nofoaluma
Taniela Paseka
Jordan Rankin
Ava Suemanufagai
Tim Simona
Bayley Sironen
Sauaso Sue
Junior Tatola
Elijah Taylor
James Tedesco
Aaron Woods..

So an extended Squad of 33 out of which I think 21 stand out as Top 25 players leaving 4 spots to fill..with others dropping back to ISP or into the 2nd Tier Cap if required...

There are also only 10 players listed in the ISP Squad with a few of the 20's graduates joining the likes of Jordan Grant Marshall-King and Milone...

NYC has 15 players listed none of the new Kebra boys yet...

No there is not, often they are just completely made up.

Rumours involving players coming to tigers recently include mcwillrick and idris. Turns out they were true.

Where do you see Ashleigh Nesbit fitting in to our grades ? ISP?

Yes I do, these things don't just get magically invented. Someone leaks it, sometimes the deal gets done and sometimes it doesn't. Unless your still in primary school and you just invent things, are you?

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you there. When you have blogs that exist entirely to spread rumours, you're going to have people making stuff up to be the first with a "scoop".

It's not hard to do. Take a player who has been dropped to reserves, add a struggling club that needs a player in that position, and post. Lichaa in talks with Knights! Dragons looking to sign Todd Carney! Eventually you get one right and look smart.
