Tigers dump Beau Ryan and Chris Heighington to the sharks

Not sure about letting Moltzen go, I'm not saying he should start next season but with Beau gone and Tedesco coming off major knee surgery we need a back up fullback next season. We need to sign another back or 2 if we are going to get rid of Ayshford and Moltzen

Sponsors are understood to be particularly angered over Ryan's loss, given the exposure he generates on The Footy Show each Thursday night.

really? it's not like he does all his stuff in Wests Tigers colours though. Does everyone, who's not a Tigers supporter, automatically think of the Tigers when they see him?

The Warriors have made contact with the four-time premiership-winner to rebuild their fortunes following a disastrous 2012 campaign.

But it remains to be seen whether Sheens wants to relocate should a formal offer be made.

Here's hoping

To be fair he often mentions the Wests TIgers on the show. Pretty every Beau Knows ends with him saying "Go the Wests Tigers!"

What a carry on!
Is manly carrying on over kite? Are the roosters carrying on over anasta? Did the storm carry on over Blair?
This is footy not a social club.
I like Ryan and Gibbs ect but I love this club.
Tge club is doing what we have all been wanting for years, a clean out of the ordinary players.
Get over it.
Come march we will have a better team than 2012 and finish top 8.

Massive difference in how the clubs have handled it though. And ours isn't an isolated incident. If players are wandering around going "wtf is happening, do I even have a contract next year?" then things are going wrong at the top.

Is there a massive difference though?

Or is it more a case of some guys like Kite are professional enough to handle it behind closed doors and our guys are not?

And I think there in lies why the tigers always seem to be on the wrong end of the mental toughness battle of clubs. They are little boys mentally.

Hey there I'm new to this site but not to the tigers ive been a fan for 30 years. I've seen many ups and downs from Balmain days to recent days. I must say ive had my heart broken more than once by the Tigers. The start of the year seemed so promising (as we all know) things seemed to go downhill with Sonia's death. I really wish that the club had given itself time to settle and not make any changes til the end of 2013 but alas that obviously hasn't happened. Beau and Chris were definite assets to the club great players, role models and nice guys. I'll miss seeing them in our colours and being able to claim them as our own. Same with Sheens every coach has rough patches I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better coach. It was hard enough with the heartbreak of very personal issues impacting the club so much let alone collapse towards the finals but now things seem a hell of a lot worse. Finally our team seemed to be getting somewhere but now it's just a big uncertain mess. I wish footy could just be something you followed and enjoyed without the heartache, frustration and feeling like wtf is going on. But i guess if it was i wouldn't love the Tiges as much as i do….. yet again next season i'll be watching wholeheartedly and loving them win lose or draw. After all I did begin as a Balmain fan back in the 80's and spent a lot of my childhood footy day's with tears in my eyes!!

THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES BEAU, CHRIS and TIM I'LL MISS YOU AND WISH WE"D HAD A CHANCE TO SAY FAREWELL!!!! :sign:

If Dwyer and Tuiaki didn't both have career ending freak injuries would Hino and Beau have played as much recently as they did? Obviusly Beau's form was great this year but with Tuiaki around chances are he never gets a chance in a starting position

Thanks for the memories. Having been a tiger's fan since Balmain days for over 50 years, I have never heard anyone whinging as much as our boys leaving. Let's look forward to the future and forget about your buddies if together you are not good enough to win a game. Maybe a new combination will help, with better skill, attitude, better trainned may help. We look forward to a better year in 2013\. It is important those that have stay to be positive and be hungry enough to want to win again.

It is NOW official

http://www.sharks.com.au/

The Sharks announce and confirm the signings of Beau Ryan and Chris Heighington with the pair to join the club on three-year deals beginning in 2013.

The addition of the two former Tigers, along with the previous acquisitions of Luke Lewis, Michael Gordon and Jonathan Wright, further strengthens a Sharks side which qualified for the finals series in 2012 for the first time in four years.

Ryan, a member of the Prime Ministers XIII team which played against Papua New Guinea recently, enjoyed an outstanding season for the Tigers in 2012 while playing in a variety of backline positions.

As for Heighington, a 200-game player for the Tigers and an English International, he will add experience and depth to the already imposing Sharks forward pack.

Understandably Sharks coach Shane Flanagan was excited about the pair joining the club and was looking forward to working with them in 2013.

“Both add to what we are trying to build here at the Sharks. They are quality players and are quality people,” Flanagan said. “Beau had a great season last year, he’s a try scorer and I see his best footy in front on him.

“With Chris, he played for England last year, brings experience and compliments the other players we have in our back row such as Paul Gallen, Wade Graham and Luke Lewis.”

Well known for his appearances on Channel 9’s The Footy Show, Ryan let his football exploits do just as much talking last season, running out in all 24 games for the Tigers in 2012, scoring nine tries.

Ryan has now played 104 NRL games and scored 46 tries in a career which began in round 16 of the 2007 season. In signing the official NRL contract at Sharks headquarters today (Tuesday), Ryan was now keen to look ahead to a new chapter in his career at the Cronulla club.

“I feel very excited to join such a proud club and I can’t wait to work with the great coaching staff and to play with all the great players at the Sharks,” Ryan said.

In relation to Ryan’s former Tigers teammate, Heighington also brings to the Sharks his obvious talents as well as an impressive rugby league resume.

In total Heighington has played 201 NRL games, has represented England four times and twice been a member of the Prime Ministers XIII team. He was a Country Origin player in 2008 and 2011 and in testament to his character, Heighington is also a former winner of the Community Award at the Wests Tigers.

“I’m real excited to sign with the Sharks,” Heighington said while also putting pen to paper on his NRL contract. “They have a great playing roster with guys like Gallen, Lewis and Carney at the club and I’m also looking forward to playing alongside former Tigers Bryce Gibbs, Andrew Fifita and John Morris again.”

The Sharks playing group will now break until early November when they return for the start of pre-season training.

Behind the scenes however the club will continue to work towards membership and corporate goals, with the 2013 Corporate Brochure released last Friday, while the Sharks, on the back of their strong 2012 campaign and with a strengthened roster for next year will make a strong push towards a goal of 10,000 members for the 2013 season.

Good luck to both players but really the biggest loss was Beau Ryan oh well cant do much anymore. Were working for the future and we do have lots on talents in the 20s we just move on now.

I wonder if isn't thing will be said next year when sharks shop around chris & beau cause they realise they have reached their used by date or paid overs for item. I doubt it.

I think Flanagan will be far more excited by his other signings Lewis and Gordon

I'd say so!

Interestingly those two leaving has not had the same Armageddon reporting at Penrith as we have gone through here.

Since they ran second no so far back they have lost Waterhouse, Petero, Lewis, Gordon and soon to lose Jennings. Plus a number of lesser likes.

That is a huge clean out.

I'm just glad it's official..and everyone can move on….I doubt Beau and Chris will be as much in the headlines ever again as they have been the last 2 weeks....
