Tigers eye Milford as Warriors prepare $3.5m offer to teen

Our coach will only sign a player he thinks can improve our roster, so if he thinks Milford can do a job, I will back his judgment. One thing for certain is we need a fullback and we need some speed and he ticks those boxes

Why won’t those damn dominos fall!

If they are going to be dominos like Milford, I hope that they stay in place.

Plenty of names being bandied around, some good, some maybe not so good.

I'm a bit over the gauge some Forumers use for measuring possible signings talent. i.e. "He is better than what we have now" - you could say that about 70% of players in the NRL.

I believe though, that it is a pretty poor criteria - we should be after players that are going to fit with the talent we have, what we are trying to put together, the culture we have at the Tigers and are trying to achieve and also the style of football we want to play that will give us the best opportunity to get in the finals and give us a chance to win the damn thing.

Player A is better than what we have is not good enough imho. If we can't get who we want (Madge wants) then fill the spot with a one year contract player or fill it with someone we already have. Save the dough and add it to the 2021 amount to buy the players we really do want, rather than the ones we have to have and then get lumbered with....

I don't see Moylan, Milford, Dugan etc as players that will get us to where we want to go, Arrow and Capewell apparently do not want a bar of us - Mitchell as well you can bet on that, which leaves Brimson, Lomax and Leilua - don't think I have missed anyone although we are tied to just about anyone who is up for grabs.

Obviously it is Madges call (we all go along with that) but if X is not available till 2021 - save the dough till then.

Madge knows the priority is the front row. We’ve been linked to Jai arrow, Tyson frizzell and JWH. Just because it’s being mentioned that we are chasing an outside back, doesn’t mean we won’t strengthen our forward pack. People chill abit and be patient.

Milford coming here could be a masterstroke. He's elite on his best day. We need a gun fullback. Change of scenery and a coach like Madge could be just what the doctor ordered. Perhaps most tellingly is that since he's returned to FB he's had numpties in the halves. Imagine going from playing fullback with Boyd and a rookie hooker calling the plays to Marshall and Brooks? Having Brooks and Marshall running the ship so he can just be pure x-factor at the back. Boy it'd make our attack deadly. I'm for it.

@Joe-McCord Milford can play footy , i would be happy to see him in a Tigers jersey , unfortunately not all can be pleased , some people would boo Santa Clause it seems

@tigger19 More like Mbye for Milf if anything..

Madge did say we need a centre, and Mbye was being groomed for that position..

If we could somehow manage to nab just 3 of the players we are linked to..

Arrow, Frizell and Milford..

My question for the forum WHO is good enough for the club to sign ? considering the all conquering roster that is the Weststigers! Personally a change in club and playing fullback would be a fantastic inclusion..

It's no good asking the forum most have just pipe dreams. Much better to ask the coach who is the only person that matters in this regard.

Milford is the biggest cat going around. He was the reason they changed the rule where you cant throw the ball from dummy half into a player on the ground. He takes the easy way to try and get out of things.

AJ Brimson and Lomax would be ideal. Go for a hslfback next year [move Brooks to 5/8) and pivk up a quality front rower.

Genuine match winner. Yes I'd like some forwards too but let's face it our attack is as dynamic as a comotosed sloth in an iron lung.

I agree, we haven't a single player at the moment who can create something all by himself, create his own line breaks, threaten defences just with the threat of touching the ball.

At the Broncos, Milf was basically signed to play halves and they paired him with two unreliable off-cuff footballers in Hunt and then Nikorima. Both of whom Broncos subsequently released.

Milf at fullback behind a more organised and direct halves attack would be a totally different thing. He did get his side to a GF 4 seasons ago, and whilst I realise that's an eon in rugby league, he's certainly not past his prime.

$1M is ridiculous IMO, but at the right price, why not Milford? He's sort of like Corey Thompson in terms of mobility but superior in every department except perhaps ticker. Hugely superior in terms of ball movement and pass options. He's a legit ball-playing fullback and kick return threat. I just don't think Broncos play him properly.

Doesn't stop us from still targeting someone like Brimson for 5/8th, though I think Brimson and Milford are similar type players, with Brimson just being a bit bigger and more direct, but Brimson also vastly untested as a half.

If you could legitimately get Milf for 2020, paired with Brooks and Benji, that starts to look pretty threatening. Then when Benji retires you have someone else come in and Milf is a halves backup at any stage. Maybe even someone like Madden is ready to play firsts in 2021.

So looking something like Milf-Thompson-Talau-Mommers-Nofo-Benji-Brooks - decent mix of youth and experience, legitimate attacking threat, but Milf brings legitimate pace into a backline that lacks pace options.

Milford would be OK if it was to play 5/8. I just don't see him as a fullback. He is more of a genuine halfback personally. He seemed lost at the Bronco's, but I think being the creative player feeding off Brooks could be really positive.

@Tigersmurf Two running halves wont work for us..Brooks is also a runner, no creativity..

Milf is a fullback, just needs to be fit...

Regardless, we have the same chance of getting him as SBW...Not happening...Brimson is a marquee player for us lol

Mixed response here.
Agree with a lot.

Especially that he is a cat.
He's lazy and unfit too.
Be a hard pre season for him under Madge.

He's not worth 1m

I'm fence sitting on this one atm. I liked him at Canberra, thought the way he left them was ordinary, couldn't stand him at broncos but I appreciate his pace and game breaking ability. He probably would do a great job in the main, but his worst is diabolical. And I have a feeling his attitude stinks. Madge would have his work cut out with Milf. I don't know, I think his lack of heart leans me towards the negative.

Apparently Broncos just signed Kahu for 400k.
Can't afford Croft and Melb won't budge with paying some of the freight.

Broncos halves for 2020 should be Milford and Deardon.
You'd expect fullback to be Isaako or new recruits Jesse Arthers.

Media beat up.

Sounds like more that Brimson is our Plan A for fullback and they're thinking Milford / Moylan as Plan B. If it gets down to PLan B, I'd rather Milford over Moylan any day, but even that would be conditional on his accepting a lot less than Bronco's are paying him. Personally for Plan B I'd go with who we have now until we can really get someone much better in 2021.
