Tigers eye Milford as Warriors prepare $3.5m offer to teen

I wonder how the reported "player option" for 2021 mentioned above affects negotiations with the donkeys on this for potential suitors, as there is nothing binding cap wise post 2020 at this point and assume that there is a only window to exercise it early next year? I would certainly take Milford at say a subsidised $600k odd per season, but would baulk at paying full freight for that 2021 option.

After having seen what Madge was able to do with Benji this year, it'd be fairly exciting what he could do with Milford who is still only 25. He genuinely has the potential to be anything if he can cut the weight and start enjoying his footy again

I gave this a like based on the faith I have in Madge more so then Milfords Attitude.

Themoney needs to be right especially as there doesn't appear to be a queue for his signature..

Nor a queue of players wanting to come to our club

Thinking that no decent, good players would want to come to our club is a very negative outlook and will only dig a deeper hole for the club. I agree with what both Pascoe and Madge said - there are plenty of good players, both established and about to establish themselves, coming on the market at this time of the year. If the club can sign at least two decent big name players from those avaiable more will very soon follow. Negativity is poison for Wests Tigers.

which 'decent player would you speculate will come to the tigers 2019/2020? season kicks off in 3.5 months. I'm only going by player movements over the past 2-3 years mate and not making the finals for a decade of football. Hopefully Madge has some pulling power but without him I don't see much incentive. That's just my opinion from casual following.

@WT2K I see u brah.
He looks the goods.

Worth a shot. Ain't gonna get the full back gig at the Raiders now.

Milford is not what we need. We need to try and get some forwards and work from there.
Milford was a gun fullback at the Raiders where he frequently scored length of the field tries with his blistering pace .... fast forward to the overweight, slow and clueless guy running around at the Broncos today - hard to believe it’s the same player. He’s bulked up too much at the Broncos so it’s affected his mobility but most of all he looks half asleep all the time and switches off a lot.
Not for me....

Wests Tigers: Fans furious as report links Anthony Milford to Concord

Wests Tigers' fans have reacted furiously to reports linking Brisbane Broncos fullback Anthony Milford to the club.

With the departures of Ryan Matterson and Ben Matulino, the Wests Tigers have considerable room in their cap to make a play for a genuine star.

And according to a report in the Sydney Morning Herald, 25-year-old Milford is one name at the top of their shopping list.

Milford had an up-and-down season in 2019, seemingly unable to find his best position as he switched between the halves and fullback.

It was his fifth season up at Red Hill after moving from Canberra at the start of the 2015 season.

But the report has left a number of Wests Tigers fans shocked that their club would be going after an 'average' player.

Milford to the tigers? If my week couldn’t get any flipping worse, I might just be done with everything if that happens

No. Please NO

Milford isn’t good enough to be our future 5/8. Smarter to wait for someone else

— Josh Coleman (@Josh99Coleman) November 1, 2019

Milford is worth 500 grand a year with his current from. We don’t need to pay overs for him, he’s average.

Wests Tigers in the last few weeks have been linked with some of the best talent in the NRL thanks to the amount of cap space they have.

Gold Coast's Jai Arrow and the Dragons' Zac Lomax are just two of the names who have been rumoured to be on the move to Concord Oval.

However, the news of Milford's link with the Wests Tigers does have some fans excited for a player who has a lot of 'upside'.

The fans from Leichhardt are particularly excited of Brisbane potentially chipping in some of his salary to get the deal done.

Milford with Broncos covering some freight would be a massive upgrade @ 1 and strengthen the outside backs with Corey on a wing.

If anyone could get him fit it'd be Madge. Worth the gamble I reckon. Especially given the lack of fullbacks around.

I don’t mind the idea of Milford at the right price. Id say more upside than Moylan and a better price.

Fair enough then, my mistake, big fan of the Milford deal if we can pay less then a million for him and Brisbane pay some as well

— Bryson (@brysonosyrb) November 1, 2019

Benji isn’t enough of a threat. Good though he was this year, he’ll be older n slower. Milford is a genuine upgrade, Lethal running game. Brooks can grow to organise. But I doubt it will happen anyway...

Either way, we imagine that Milford will be the first of many players set to be linked to the Wests Tigers this off-season.

milford is like a moses....good when the forwards are towelling up, but poo when there is work to do....he's a luxury type of player, but not at the top of the luxury list

Seriously, what grown adult uses the term flipping. Can you be any more of a dork.

Not so much the use of that word, but how good is your week going if a bloke you don't coming to your footy club is the worst thing to happen.

"My wife walked out on me, my dog got killed after being hit by a car, I've had a heart attack and one of my kids has just been diagnosed with cancer, but Milford coming to Wests has just ruined my week..."
