Tigers Lineup 2013

  • Thread starter Thread starter TigerSillick99
  • Start date Start date
1 Tedesco
2 Nofoluma
3 Lawrence
4 Ayshford
5 Koroibete
6 Marshall
7 Miller
8 Woods
9 Farah
10 Galloway
11 Blair
12 Anasta
13 Fulton
14 Bell
15 Murdoch-Masilla
16 Pettybourne
17 Fotuaki

Gee it is a headache trying to fit Anasta and Sironen in the side. Left Sironen out due to shoulder uncertainty at start of season. Both, when fit, are almost "must pick", but from what I can tell will be similar style players, yet not the kind of player you want 2 of in the same side. Could be good having Anasta around to influence Sirro.

1\. Tedesco
2\. Utai
3\. Ayshford
4\. Lawrence
5\. Koroibete
6\. Marshall
7\. Miller
8\. Woods
9\. Farah
10\. Galloway
11\. Blair
12\. Fulton
13\. Anasta
14\. Moltzen

1\. Moltzen (Tedesco to spend time in Toyota Cup to gain confidence back)
2\. Tuqiri/Utai (Experience outweighs young talent, that being Nofoaluma, atleast for the first few rounds)
3\. Ayshford (New coach, hopefully finds form from 2010 and 2011 seasons)
4\. Lawrence (After an average 2012 season because of injury and confidence, hopefully this new year is his year to shine)
5\. Korobeite (we know what he can do, the X factor with blinding speed and courage)
6\. Marshall (new coach, new style of play that helps the players around him)
7\. Miller (new coach, hopefully given the opportunity to show why he was junior kangaroos halfback)
8\. Woods (repeat of 2012 season, even though its going to be hard to replicate)
9\. Farah (our influential captain)
10\. Galloway (needs more mongrel in him, hopefully no injuries for 2013)
11\. Blair (better show us why he is getting paid so much, new coach, hopefully comes out a heavier and stronger player in 2013)
12\. Anasta (ball playing second row, hopefully helps put Lawrence back into form, and can cause havoc down the sides of the field with his short passing and long passing game)
13\. Fulton (workhorse in defence, hopefully influences everyone and teaches them how to defend!)

Interchange
14\. Bell (underrated prop/lock who knows how to defend well and to take the ball up with heart)
15\. BMM (impact player off the bench to provide that attacking spark close to the line in the later stages of the halfs)
16\. Pettybourne (prop/back row, good energy and runs the tough lines that most of our forwards don't know how to do)
17\. ??? (Could be a utility back or could be an up and coming front rower from the NYC i.e Groat or Buchanan..)

Now that we know the top 25-30 it is time for everyone to post what their side would be, do not put Jennings or anyone that is not in the list in the team.

Ayshford at fullback? Really? Why?

And one prop on the bench who's never played first grade?

Ayshford at fullback because he is a great defender, can catch balls and has a very deadly running game when he is in form and if we can get that type of fullback which is what we are missing aswell as a halfback we are one step closer to being a top 4 team.

I would have Blair put on some kg's and play as a prop.

Great another backrow that can't tackle

Pettybourne and BMM can't tackle?

Ayshford is too slow for fullback, both in attack and defence. I'd hate him as our last line of defence to chase down a break. His ball movement lacks a bit of spark as well. Leave him at centre where he can hopefully get that fancy footwork working well again

Nope. Not if your talking more than 2 tackles in succession.

My team for Round 1:

1\. Moltzen (Tedesco to be given time in the NYC to regain confidence. Hopefully Moltzen finally finds some form over a strong pre season.

2\. Tuqiri/Utai (I think they'll go for experience over an untried winger in Nofoaluma)

3\. Ayshford (Please find the form from 2010/2011)

4\. Lawrence (After a couple of injury plagued seasons, a good pre season will be good for Lawrence and hopefully he finds that form that had him considered for NSW)

5\. Koroibete (The X Factor, blinding speed and courage, just what we need)

6\. Marshall (He wants it, he needs to show us why)

7\. Miller (New coach wants him, if he starts round 1, he needs to show all the haters why he is the Junior Kangaroos halfback)

8\. Woods (It's going to be hard but hopefully he replicates his 2012 season)

9\. Farah (Our influential captain)

10\. Galloway (If he had that extra bit of mongrel he would be so much better, he is still a good prop as long as he isn't injured)

11\. Blair (With a few added kg's over the off season, hopefully he shows us why he is being paid so much)

12\. Anasta (Our ball playing second rower who can help put Lawrence back into form and also a combination with Koroibete could prove deadly)

13\. Fulton (The tight defending workhorse, needs his defensive role to rub off onto other people)

Interchange

14\. Bell (Underrated prop and back rower, will work tirelessly when he comes on)
15\. BMM (The impact player who can devastate opponents try lines with his hard running and leg speed)
16\. Pettybourne (Knows how to run the hard lines, adds a bit of mongrel and can play prop and back row)
17\. ??? Either a utility back i.e Sironen or Simona. Or a young Prop i.e Buchanan or Groat

I like your team and I think I'm on the same page with every player you mentioned.

Would much rather the half hearted Blair start the season as a reserve bencher with the full hearted Bell taking the run on second row spot with Anasta. Simona, another full hearted player is a good option as a reserve.

.why would more kilos make Blair a better second rower ?
He is too slow to play in the back row ,anyone see his game in the test match last month ?he played close to the ruck and was damaging at times. Blairs future in in the front row IMHO

I see Blair as a better second rower with more kg's added, as he was heavier when he played at Melbourne Storm and the form difference between then and his time at the Tigers is vastly different. It could be that he shined at Melbourne Storm due to being surrounded by Cronk, Slater and Smith. Although I think with added weight he would be a more damaging back rower if he were to run at the opposing halves etc. Or running the inside line back under a Marshall inside ball.
