I think we will get James O'Conner. Do the maths on the space in our salary cap for next year. He would make an excellent centre.

Its funny it feels like we should have lots of space next year. Though when you go the maths we will only basically have Benji's offer. See below for my workings

Working backward on our cap. We could afford to pay the following in 2013:
Benji - 750K
Ashford 300K
Pettybourne 200K
Miller 200K
Utai - 150K
Lote - 200K
Groat -150k (??)
Bell 100K
Spence 50K
= 2.1m
\
\
\
Take off signing / or planning to sign some of the younger guys
Taupau 200K
Richards 200K
Brooks 250K back loaded
Moses 100K (rest in 20's cap)
Simona 200K
Lovett +100K
Performance based upgrade to Sue, Nofo, Ava, Jack 300K for the four (?)
= 1.35m

Leaves only 0.75m. Interesting that this adds to Benji's offer. Working on this year being at the Cap, it looks like we just didn't have the money to pay him more.

Point - Blair would have to go to get Falou.

Keith Lulia,is he a freebie.

Wasn't saying you we're wrong , just said it would ridiculous to pay a million a year for a winger

Wouldn't pay 400 k a year for a winger

Say G'day to Robbie for us

Folau would play centre or FB.

He is worth at least that coin anyway.

If we don't have the forward pack to get him in a situation where he can attack or two playmakers who can create chances for him it wouldn't matter what we paid him

I agree, but what do you suggest? Sign more forwards? Who then? How many? Get a halfback? Aren't we trying with Brooks/Moses?
Don't forget we already have Woods, Gall, Tapau, Fulton, Blair, Siro, Anasta, Ava, Sue, Buchanan, Spence et al. and I have to say that I have faith in these guys. They have been dominated a bit this year but that's rebuilding for you.

So I agree with you, get one more consistent forward, one in the Gareth Ellis mould like Bolton. Maybe a prop like Lillyman or even Fui Fui! Anyone who is solid! These guys are perfect and won't cost the world.

Then after some astute forward purchases, go ballistic for the biggest and meanest attacking machine on the market….FOLAU! GET HIM!!

Could you go through the misses?

No use crowing about the hits when you use a shotgun approach.

Mate don't worry what anyone says, it's a forum, do your thing. Wether your wrong or right have your say. It makes me laugh when some on here take it as gospel, but aren't wise enough to realize that things could change at the last moment. Makes me laugh how some also believe everything Grant Mayer says, often quoting him on players movements. I hope his approach doesn't shoot him in the foot, and the others that enjoy and praise his honesty.
I think at times your having a stab at events, but wether its you, Mayer or others, there will always be gullible teddy bears, they know who they are, the ones after the facts.

I got no problems if you have some hits and misses, and don't get me wrong I appreciate the insight any insight for that matter gives people something to debate.
My question to you is, you obviously work somehow somewhere connected to the tigers,do you not worry that you maybe putting your employment in jeopardy by revealing things?
Or perhaps even like stuff with the Blair situation if we are looking to offload clubs may monitor other forums ect and I use may loosely would that not make the situation worse for us as a club with another club knowing we are desperate.

How many has he been wrong on??

Not all that many in the years I've been here.

the only two i can think of were luke lewis and Brett Finch, and bother were cases of the player shirking at the last possible second - which were reported by news stories.

If I'm not mistaken either, smoking gun at one point made the unpopular suggestion that Bryce Gibbs was pushed due to behavioural issues, (not JUST to seal the Blair deal like many of you folk here believe) - and that also turned out to be true.

Smoking guns' info has been as good as any pieces we get fed on the forum - I've seen much much worse.

If you want rubbish, go check out the dribble on NRL Gossip, and "The eye" groups on Facebook, or read LeagesUnlimited, or go and visit the Cronulla Sharks "Signing news" ( :roll ) sub thread.

Cut some slack here, seriously you lot.

Havne't been here that long, but SG has been right a fair bit.

How can you expect someone to report on rumours 100%? I mean, even if you had gotten inside info from grant mayer before the benji thing he probably woulda said that benji was likely to resign. But he woulda been wrong.

I don't mind getting some insight, and I'm not upset if things are wrong….but his tone at times that has a holier than thou flavour. Its the attitude. Hes also done the "fine I'm leaving" grab for attention once or maybe more.

If you'd like to add another miss, he was wrong about Benji too. Rest assured, there are more than two.
