Tigers Lui eyes Cowboys return

I've been informed today that the nth QLD cowboys have officially approached wests tigers as to a release for Robert Lui. Take it for what it's worth I'm just passing on information that I've attained from a source within the club

Given his defence problems, I wouldn't be devastated if he was released but who would he be replaced with at half back, might be a bit early to push Miller into the week to week NRL grind.

I don't know whether the tigers will release him or not I'm not a huge fan of Lui but with the exception of miller we really have no one ready to fill the 7 role I think it would be dumb to release him without a genuine replacement

yes Lui's defence is a massive issue,but when it comes to directing the side around he comes nowhere near Lui

Fine lets do a straight swap for Ray Thompson Defensively Lui makes him look like Ron Coote and he has speed off the mark . Why the Cowboys don't want to work with Thompson shows that they are crazier than us :crazy

Lui had his chance verse the dogs to show leadership and direction and let's be honest he fail miserably. I see guys like Hodgkinson and cherry Evans come in there first years and show great leadership as rookies and I really think Lui is more talented then them but he just doesn't perform to first grade standard often enough

You would have to think that after letting Moltzens go the chances of them letting Lui go would be very slim.I like the look of young Miller but I tjink he needs another season.

Now for left field, we could let Lui go and get a new hooker and move Robbie to 1/2 back, would free Robbie from all that defence work, and get him running the ball. Lets face it there is some good hookers looking for a fulltime gig. Your thougths. :crazy or :smiley:

I don't know if miller is the answer but IMO he won't be any worse then Lui

we've got to take a leaf out of des haslers book and be sure not to blood miller too early. hasler didnt put hodkinson and cherry evans into the nrl till they were 20 and 22 respectively, and cherry evans in particular has clearly benefited from his time in the 20s and than qld cup. keep lui at least until his contract runs out (not sure when that is?), then let him go and have miller as our full time half

If he wants to go, then release him.
could be family issues involved here, which could impact on his on field performance.

Hmmmm. Im not real happy with Lui, and when u consider our defensive issues we've had as a team over the years, part of me will be happy to see the back of him. BUT….........the other part of me feels with him being only what, 21/22? he will be awesome down the track. Its a tough call.....do we carry him for now or let him go and hope either a)Miller can do the job or b)Benji goes to 7 and Sironen can step up?

I dont envy the club in this decision, but i'd say they will leave it to Rob himself.

Hodgkinson and Cherry Evans don't have to try direct a football side with Benji Marshall and Robbie Farah in it.

Hodgkinson and Cherry Evans don't have to try direct a football side with Benji Marshall and Robbie Farah in it.

and i dont see hodgkinson or DCE breaking the line very often which Lui does regularly.

Miller has a shoulder and can defend and can kick goals imagine that end of story..I love lui running the side around I thought someone else did that ..Lui is a 5/8 another one of Sheens hair brain explosions lets move on!.

Heard a few weeks ago that a current Tigers back had signed with a QLD NRL side but wasn't going public in case he put his position in first grade in danger. Doesn't seem to worry our forwards?
