Tigers Lui eyes Cowboys return

I can just see us letting lui go and then miller becoming and it's 07-09 all over again
I think we should of kept moltzen and gave lui tha flick
Just my opinion

IMO Lui is a pretty handy footballer and really cops more than his fair share of crap on this forum, yes he some real defensive issues but he is not on his pat Malone their. Really outside Benji he is most likely to make a line break. Now in saying that he is far from being indispensable and if his heart is not in the joint and he wants out, than show him the door

I am a big fan of Miller because he looks like a good halfback and has loads of confidence, but I would not be letting Lui go just yet. Let's give them both a good off season - Lui for tackling practice and Miller for physical development and squad familiarity, and sort it next season.

I like Lui's ability to break the line but would like to see him move quickly more often. I like his cut-out pass but would like to see him release the ball a fraction earlier. There's plenty for him to work on but probably the same for Miller.

Miller to half and Sironen on the bench.

Too early.

Lui is talented. whether the tigers can wait for him to figure it out is a different story.

He needs 2 things, A defensive minder like Tony Carrol and Lockyer, Beau Scott and Soward.

and Another year to get some confidence.

Lets not forget that Scott prince was a half back that had many years before he finally clicked.

Great points Barra. Agree 100%

We have only seen glimpses of Miller in the top grade, big difference from playing week in and week out. A bloke like Thurston at Lui's age was in and out of the dogs top side now he is no1 or very close to it, back in the world. It also has to be noted that our team has been playing busted for various reasons most of the season so that would make it very hard for a young 7 to stamp his class on a team. Anyway if he wants to head north, let him next year at least on paper we should have a very strong pack for a no7 to play behind, so if Miller is our man he should have a easier time than Lui has had this year

Heard a few weeks ago that a current Tigers back had signed with a QLD NRL side but wasn't going public in case he put his position in first grade in danger. Doesn't seem to worry our forwards?

that doesn't make sense as if it was Lui for example,he couldn't sign with anyone else as he's contracted for next season, unless he has been given permission by the Tigers
there is no chance of anyone signing a contract with another club in secret, without the Tigers knowing, if they are under contract

Does miller have a contract beyond 2011?

Yes, he is signed until the end of 2012.

Well if family reasons is behind the move then would the club stand in his way ? Once again we don't know the reason behind the rumour to start with.

Happy Tiger you are dead set kidding stating that you believe Ray Thompson is a better footballer than Robert Lui.

You need to watch him play more often Vicious . Thompson will finish up a far better footballer than Lui . His defence is 10 times better than Luis and he has better hands and speed than Lui In what area do you find Lui better Looks ??

so if thats the case ,,,and the rumour is true about lui…ray thompson dosent have a future at the cows ....i posted the other day i heard the tigers are trying to offload him ....so there could be some truth to it all...

Happy I'm with Vicious - there is absolutely no way Ray Thompson is better than Lui. Defensively, yeah but in attack Thompson is useless, no creativity whatsoever.

How about you look up how many try assists, line breaks and line break assists Thompson has made compared to Lui? Bet he's ahead in all categories.

The whole team has played busted for most of the season yet its either Lui's fault or Moltzen. The kid is way better than most people give credit and thats why clubs are after him. If he was the bum he is made out to be on this forum than no club would go near him

I could point to where the Cowbees are on the table compared to us , but I won't Hybrid . If you are rating this on his game against the Tigers That was his worst for the season that I have seen . He looks far more dangerous with the ball in hand, is faster than Lui off the mark and at top speed and better defensively Teamed with Benji and Farah he would be a far better fit than Lui in our side .That is the point I am making

I am prepared to drive from Brisbane to Sydney to pick up Lui and deliver him myself to Townsville next week. Anyone want to throw in for petrol?

I don't care who they play at 7\. Whether they release him or not, he will go home eventually anyway so go now.

Yeh I agree, Thompson has been menancing with the ball this year. He has laid on an astronomical **two** tries this year, which compliments the **one** line break assist. If you like cream with your cake, let's thrown in the **eight** line breaks. How this guy is a dual international yet I don't know. He has been extremely unlukcy in **not scoring** any tries this year as well. Also tacklers need to be wary, his is always dangerously getting his arms free, popping a massive **one** offload this year.

I can't believe the Cows are after Lui to replace him, like Lui has only scored **four** tries, set-up eight, thrown **15** offloads, made **eight** line breaks (I know I know, same amount as Thommo), and assisted in **10** line breaks.

Chalk and cheese. I know who I would pick…

Those people here who think Lui gives good service and cut out passes….....send me your drugs!

Have a look through any game this year. Lui selects who he is going to pass to before the play starts. He doesn't have the ability to have 3 runners and choose one depending on what is evolving during the play.

I have seen several times in the last 6 weeks weeks at least, throw the ball god knows how many times to someone who is not running a good line, when someone running a different line into a roaring gap gets nothing!!!!! You can see the runner go through the line and throw their hands up. He telegraphs his passes and any he does get right I believe is sheer luck. Throw enough and some will stick.

On top of that, he couldn't defend to save his life. And those who say he played well last week could only be comparing him against his previous weeks games.

Some guys have it. Some guys don't. Lui is in the 'dont' category.

PS: I say this with no coaching or talent ID skills, but I did play in 3 grand finals in Under 9's, Under 11's and Under 13's. !!!

I think it was the game v the cowboys where Lui hit ayshford who was marked by 2 defenders where if he had the vision moltzen and Ryan I think it was were both unmarked on the outside. That play there alone showed me Lui lacks innovation and the ability to read the defence
