Tiges will get an exemption. I chose to believe that the NRL can see that Sydney's West (including Parra) need to see the young guys coming through. It will be a long offseason for fans, with the promise of future stars enough to keep interest up for the coming year.

I believe Benji and Brooks will play. I believe that if Benji plays like he has he will get hooked in the second half and Siro will go to 5/8.

Come on NRL, show us you believe in Sydney's west!

Stuff playing Benji ,how about give a bloke a run who at least wants to be here

Does it really matter whether Parra beat us , pick Brooks ,Luani and Sironen and play them at 7,9 and 6

Forget the past and the present ,2013 is well and truly gone , the only thing we have now is the future ,lets make it the present and whatever happens ,happens

Stuff the NRL lets play them whether they say yes or no and lets the fans pay the fine if the Tigers cant afford it

I'd seriously kick a $1000 in if they dropped Benji and got a fine for playing non exempted players ,who's with me

BM96 is that you?

And who do you suggest to play this week in the halves ??

Yeah lets stick with Benji and Anasta ,Anasta wants to retire at the end of the season from all reports and Benji is dreaming about playing rah rah and doesn't even have the common decency to show up to the captains run before the Titans game

What is playing these blokes doing to the mentality of the young blokes ,honestly answer that one Blake

I was commenting on your willingness to pay the salary cap fine. Lighten up princess it was a joke.

Now answer the question Blake

If your going to open your trap , you should at least be able to come up with an answer to the OPs question

Something else I don't understand , why couldn't the club have not sent one official to the funeral and got them to put the exemption for second tier players

As much as the club MUST pay homage to Graham Murray who I totally respect as a coach , business goes on and priorities are priorities

Im sure if Graham Murray is looking down ,I'm sure he would totally understand

It shouldnt happen for a couple of reasons
1\. Marshall has been a great servent and deserves to go out in a good way
**2\. Benji will bring in bums on seats for his final games and we need the cash**
3\. It makes the pressure on brooks if he is not only playing but replacing marshall too much - its going to be extreme anyway but imagine the presure and likely interaction with teammates if he replaces benji
4\. We are already loosing Robbie next week , too much to also loose benji

Reasons it should happen
1\. Benji has been horrible out of form and is getting worse

I have major issues with #2\. If fans of the club are only turning up to see ONE player out of 17, it's a little sad. No one player is bigger than the club and whether Benji is playing or not, our crowds haven't been very good this year

I am less likely to attend a game with Marshall playing then Brooks

Like when anyone finishes up at a job, there is a 4 week crossover period where the departing employee walks through their role with the replacement.

Benji should be spending the next 4 weeks with Brooks 24/7 and guiding him through this critical period.

I'm with you Smeg. I am looking forward to seeing Brooks and Luani play if they get a chance, living out of the country you don't get to see too much footy so I have not seen them play yet but imo the transformation of the new team starts now.

But there lays the problem Kul , are any of the blokes we have professional enough to do that

I don't think I would like having Ayshford and Marshall being involved with the new blokes at this stage

Im not sure Benjis head is in the right place for a mentoring role , he seems genuinely hurt by what has happened

If asked and they didn't do it, then WT would have the right to sack them for non-performance

simple

What is the nrl going to if we breach the salary cap take our points off us woop de do . Why not bite the bullet start building for next year and put the guys that are leaving into state cup , we have done our farewells to the leaving players at both leichardt and Campbeltown . At least it might strengthen that side

Are you serious about the salary cap? Why don't we just ignore any rule we don't like for the rest of the year?

My point probably didn't come out right Kul , but Brooks doesn't know any better and Marshall could fill his head with any junk

And how could Benji teach anyone to play a conventional half role , he would be as far from the conventional half that I have seen since Phil Blake

Its a pipe dream….

everyone, absolutely everyone knows it should happen, but it wont.

Fulton hooker with Siro & Brooks in the halves... and put the biggest pack out there we can. A team like that, those major changes, promoting Brooks, another second row starting promotion give Potter the basis to really pump them up tell them how much faith he has in them, and give them a good old emotional spark calling them for pride in the colours. Even bring Koro back up and slide Simona or Nofo in one and drop that bum Ayshford...

Use the changes as a positive, rather than have the team think he is grasping at straws, play it more as it is the squad he wanted to put out there all along, it being a squad he is choosing to show a bit of pride...

That is a really good point. As he moves through the critical transition to rugby, Benji can get some key insights on organising a team.

Potter should play Benji 6 Brooks 7,give Marshall 20 minutes to prove his worth, with the promise of being hooked for Sirro and dropped next week, then we will see the real character of the man.
A focused Marshall would mean we beat parra and avoid the spoon, getting rid of a disinterested Marshall after 20 minutes might also ensure a win,all this talk about playing blokes and copping fines and loss of points,do we really want our first spoon, this club should never win a spoon.

The NRL will let it happen - too good a story / interest piece for what is otherwise a battle for last between two teams in terrible form.

The fact of the matter is (whether or not Brooks is allowed to play or not) the WT have to do what's best for the WT as a team and as a club! yes the season is over for us but our goal is to win as many games as we can from here on in and we need to field a team that gives us the best chance of doing that, regardless of how good Benji has been and his service to the club, right now he doesn't deserve to be picked, we can't waste the rest of our season because we want to be fair to Benji and send him away on a good note he's not retiring! he's breaking his contract and walking.
If he was playing good football then he'd be in the team, its his own doing, so if he doesn't play another NRL game for the rest of the season its his own fault no one else's, right now the past counts for very little. Its sad I wonder if he had it all over again if he'd of done it differently? Keeping his head off the TV keeping a low profile. I know its not an excuse but the media ruined Marshall they first talked him up to be something he never was then they pumped up his tyres and blew smoke up his butt for way too longthen they simply made excuses for hI'm, and the whole time Benji believed it and tried to live up to the hype but just kept failing until now where well he's just a mess.

I kind of hope this isn't true. Brooks' debut will be one of the most anticipated debuts in recent memory just based on how much hype he's been getting in recent weeks. If it comes at the expense of Marshall then the pressure on him to perform will be astronomical. Just name Brooks on the bench with Marshall starting (drop Braith), then on game day go with the old switcheroo.

It won't and shouldn't happen for one reason alone, the pressure on this kid is huge as it is and it will be massive next season,so replacing Benchy will be just too much let him start afresh next season with all the trials under his belt.
I believe he should get a run out this year but not at the pressure of replacing someone he has looked up to probably since he was a kid.
