Tigers Pull Out Of Takairangi Deal

I don't think the player in question was ever going to make the annals of the all time greats …. Let's hope we end up with someone better.

Oh Dear…..do we ever learn?...

Takairangi deal close
Expect Parramatta to announce they have signed lanky Titans utility Brad Takairangi any day now.
Talks stalled a few days ago because Takairangi wanted a three-year deal and the Eels were only willing to offer one season after his contract with the Tigers fell through.
In the end, Takairangi will take one year and an option - and the **Tigers will foot some of the bill** because they pulled out of the deal after agreeing to terms.

And that's the assumption of who exactly? Some numpty from nowhere?

Because that's not how business works, unless there was a legally binding contract signed by both parties which was broken then no compensation is required. If it was a verbal agreement of terms with no conditions placed upon it then we don't have to pay a cent.

It might going back on one's word at worst, but there's no financial penalties for that! Clubs and players renege on their word all the time! Christ Teddy reneged on a contract he'd officially signed. Is he paying Canberra?

We never even officially signed Brad, so how on earth could there be reason to pay for him?

If we are paying for someone we only ever talked to then someone should be punished! But it does seem unlikely, even for our previous management!

The more the club needs cash the more they throw it away. Repercussions will not be anywhere to the extent of the Sheens hand-off but still very inept in a lot of people's eyes. Maybe the club needs to employ a Contracts Lawyer.

You would think Mayer would come out and explain what happened to this deal , if that was the case ? if there is any truth with us having to foot some of the bill next year that would be ludicrous who is accountable for this ?
Please tell me that we can trust our Club and Official Website before a Newspaper (if it's true).

alexaki where did you get that info from ? What paper or site ?

Not always the most reliable source….but sometimes he gets it right...and whats his agenda for stating it if not true?

Wow let me get this straight …peeps are going off chops cause of something the Lurker wrote in his gossip column.....pmsl...

Yeah , your spot on Geo . Now that i know it's from the Lurker Sabre pretty much summed it up .
In any of JT's interview's so far has he ever explained the situation with what happened with the Takairangi signing ? i'm guessing not .

Anyway who cares really? don't rate him anyway , i just wouldn't be happy if we did had to pay a portion of his Salary

Any ineptitude here is at the feet of the previous management - and that may include Mayer who no longer has anything to do with the football management. It seems to me that Phil Moss and Jason Taylor have inherited this and are trying to clean it up even if it means that it might cost us some dollars, which wouldn't be much. I certainly don't expect to see this sort of carry on under the new regime.

If Tatarangi had talks with the club before JT was elected new coach then Mayer should be held accountable…
No contract or monetary offers should have been made without the new coaches consent..
He is the one who puts the playing group together and says who he wants or not...seems to me a rookie type mistake or jumping the gun in an area that is not yours..
Let's hope it doesn't cost us heaps as we don't have that much as it is.... :crazy  :sign:

Yep

If it looks like BS ,smells like BS and sounds like BS it probably is

I can't believe we're contributing salary cap for this guy.

I call bullshit on this.
If that was going to be the case we would have just kept him and played him in reserves.
Pretty sure verbal contracts don't work like that either.

I agree, until registered by the NRL, contract is not valid.

Who knows.

To be honest if Takaraingi had begun taking steps to move to Sydney to play for us and secured a long term place to stay, I think we should cover the money so he isn't out of pocket too much. But I'm talking covering maybe the cost of breaking a lease etc, this better not be us topping up tens of thousands again.

i think that if this is true, then we are probably paying him a bit of money but not out of the cap since it wasn't registered by the NRL.

signing a contract is still binding by law (unless both parties agree on a release) so i figure its something like what LaT said. not like what happened with gibbs, beau, fifita and several others.

I don't get why someone would re-post an article which had already been discussed for a few days and act all surprised about it. Did you read the last page or two of the thread before posting?

It's BS FFS. Everyone needs to move on and stop being so gullible!!
