Tigers put an end to Heighington exit rumour
Daniel Lane
July 24, 2011

WESTS TIGERS' chief executive, Stephen Humphreys, has made it clear one of the club's favourite sons, forward Chris Heighington, is going nowhere after weeks of speculation he was set to be released to join Penrith.

News of Heighington's impending departure outraged Tigers fans who said they considered the 28-year-old back-rower the heart and soul of their team.

An emphatic Humphreys stressed last night that Heighington would see out the next two years of his contract.

''Chris is not going anywhere,'' he said. ''He's not going to Penrith, he wasn't going to Penrith … he's an integral part of the squad.

''He will see out his contract [until the end of 2013] and hopefully, then, his career at the Wests Tigers. He is one of the leaders of the club, he's totally committed, he's a great trainer and sets a great example for the young guys coming through.''

Humphreys' declaration followed Benji Marshall's revelation during the week that new recruit Adam Blair would be as welcome as any other player who had ever joined the club after it was said Tim Moltzen, Bryce Gibbs and Andrew Fifita were cut to accommodate the Melbourne Storm prop.

Wade McKinnon is off to England at season's end, while prop Todd Payten is retiring.

Marshall also hosed down rumours that he and coach Tim Sheens were at constant loggerheads and that there was player unrest in the camp.

TFFT!!!!!!

One of our best players who always give 100%, wears his heart on his sleeve and will always try and rev up the rest of the team.

There is a God!

I think what you have all said about CW applies equally to Bryce Gibbs and that we will regret releasing him (and Moltzen).

Great news….....Although as Humphreys said on 'The Game Plan' on ONEHD that "Moltzen isn't going anywhere" and a month later he is going to St George.

Although this is probably different. I'm glad he is staying.

But wen he said dat on one hd dat was diff but chris hino they put it on the site he and beau ryan arnt going anywere so big diffrence to timmy john grant will be our fb his a gun player

It's good news to hear that the rumour (re Chris H leaving the club) has been quashed. He is certainly one of the intergral team members, and needed at our club as we go forward.

Spelling and grammar are two critical aspects which would make your posts a LOT easier to read. This isn't south central LA where we speak 'homie'.

Do chinese, arabic, russian or japanese kids and/or idiots abuse their language like those that ''use'' english do?
