We already signed mitch Brown, whos more a fullback than a winger yet has never seen the 1 jersey.

Brown doesn't seem that good under the high ball though and is pretty average.

How do you know….he hasnt had a run in the #1 with US, bar maybe a trial iirc

Just seems so wasteful and very scrappy

He dropped a few cross kicks whilst on the wing aswell.

Haha… don't believe it Captain Awesome and I got what we wished for as discussed in the Beau Ryan thread.

Very, very happy. We really needed a specialised fullback and someone with as much experience as McKinnon is invaluable. Great work Tigers!

I like

1.McKinnon
2.Tuqiri
3.Ayshford
4.Lawrence
**5.MacDougall**

eh?

Ben MacDougall, playing for BRET. Ive always been a fan of his hard running. He's very difficult to handle like his brother and would add great punch and enthusiasm

Ryan clearly isnt the answer but he was the best available … until now.

GREAT NEWS!!! I've aways had raps on him and funny thing is, when checking the Warriors team i was happy to see him not playing for them against the Tigers. Cant believe he is with us now. Great work!

I'd like to see fitzy not in the 17, but am happy for him to stay till Blake is back. Then hopefully mckinnon has proven himself to not be another cayless, and fitzy can go to NSW cup.

THE Wests Tigers have grabbed Warriors discard Wade McKinnon in a mid-season buy aimed at filling the club's gaping hole at the back.

McKinnon, a former City Origin fullback, has been signed by the Tigers for the remainder of the season - but he won't be available to face his recently-departed club this weekend.

The 29-year-old was frozen out at Mt Smart Stadium with New Zealand international Lance Hohaia making the No. 1 shirt his own.

The Warriors said releasing McKinnon was not part of their plans but the player's agent had approached the club earlier this week.

"We were committed to Wade staying with us for the rest of his contract but he wants to play first-grade football regularly and recently he hasn't been able to do that here with Lance Hohaia firmly established at fullback in our NRL side," Warriors chief executive Wayne Scurrah said.

"Wade has made a great contribution to the club since joining us for the 2007 season and we appreciate the effort he has put in."

New Zealand agreed to release McKinnon immediately, on the condition he does not line-up against them at Campbelltown tomorrow night.

But he will be available for round 13 against the Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium.

McKinnon's signing comes as the Tigers have struggled to cover the loss of Tim Moltzen to a season-ending knee injury.

Tigers recruitment manager Warren McDonnell said McKinnon would be the perfect solution.

**"Certainly fullback, we had a couple of options at the start of the year that haven't come to fruition, for one reason or another, yet we're still skinny in that position," he said.\
\
"He'll be a good buy for us. His attack's very good. He sniffs around the ruck, that's his game and that's what we need at the moment. He's good under the high ball, his defence is good, he's got a lot of pluses."'**

McKinnon said he was desperate to re-ignite his career with some regular NRL starts at the Tigers.

"I feel I have plenty more to offer and can't wait to team up with a very talented squad at the Wests Tigers ," he said.

McKinnon has been one of the Warriors most consistent players since crossing from Parramatta in 2007.

But after battling a serious knee injury in 2008 and returning to earn a City Origin call-up last season, the former Eels and Rabbitohs custodian battled for a look-in with the Ivan Cleary-coached side this year.

Tigers CEO Stephen Humphreys said that McKinnon was a good fit for the club.

"He will be a valuable addition, particularly as we have a number of injured players at present," Humphreys said.

"There is no doubt that Wade is a quality player and he is keen to re-establish his career with Wests Tigers.

"His attacking style of play and ability to find the tryline will be great assets for us."

Meaney? lol he'll never play first grade. Mullaney will, but not this season. So what's the problem with signing a former rep fullback??

Mckinnon's the best fullback we've had since Hodgo in 2005\. Obviously Sheens had decided Lote at fullback isn't the best idea which is correct. Sheens has perhaps finally realised that if he doesn't perform this season he's gone. Realising fullback has cost us dearly in recent weeks he's gone for a guy who'd be cheap, hungry and played rep footy only last year.

If he drops Fitzy to the bench (at least) for the dogs game we'll know he's really serious. A few catches against the Knights doesn't make Fitzy a first grade quality back again. Having him on the bench i could possibly tolerate. Beau is a much better winger than Fitzy.

Wade to battle for the wing and elusive number 17 spot with Beau, Brown, Daniella? Fitzy to remain fullback??

if he walks straight into FG v the dogs then ill give up, meaney has been playing extremely well for a couple seasons now and IMO deserved a shot a while ago, Mckinnon was good in 07 his last couple seasons havent been good, IMO another wasted signing when we potentially have 3 fullbacks other then ryan and moltzen who can play there.

Dude, McKinnon is a proven FG player. A very experienced one at that. You can't compare FG form to reserve/u20s form.

McKinnon should walk straight into FG. He is a fullback, we don't have a solid FG fullback which is EXACTLY what we need right now.

Hows his current - 2010 - form??

He has had no opportunity to show any form TBH. For some reason Warriors think Hohaia is a better fullback, when Hohaia is nothing but a utility. No idea how he's gone for the Vulcans.

I am confident we will see the best of Wade. Great signing for the rest of this season.

Yes I'm sure he'll all of a sudden hit his peak once again and regain the form that saw him play minor reps

I think we win the comp now.

:wahoo:
