Very, very happy. We really needed a specialised fullback and someone with as much experience as McKinnon is invaluable. Great work Tigers!

Wade McKinnon moves into Tiger's den

THE Wests Tigers have grabbed Warriors discard Wade McKinnon in a mid-season buy aimed at filling the club's gaping hole at the back.
McKinnon, a former City Origin fullback, has been signed by the Tigers for the remainder of the season - but he won't be available to face his recently-departed club this weekend.
The 29-year-old was frozen out at Mt Smart Stadium with New Zealand international Lance Hohaia making the No. 1 shirt his own.
The Warriors said releasing McKinnon was not part of their plans but the player's agent had approached the club earlier this week.
"We were committed to Wade staying with us for the rest of his contract but he wants to play first-grade football regularly and recently he hasn't been able to do that here with Lance Hohaia firmly established at fullback in our NRL side," Warriors chief executive Wayne Scurrah said.
"Wade has made a great contribution to the club since joining us for the 2007 season and we appreciate the effort he has put in."
New Zealand agreed to release McKinnon immediately, on the condition he does not line-up against them at Campbelltown tomorrow night.
But he will be available for round 13 against the Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium.
McKinnon's signing comes as the Tigers have struggled to cover the loss of Tim Moltzen to a season-ending knee injury.
Tigers recruitment manager Warren McDonnell said McKinnon would be the perfect solution.
**"Certainly fullback, we had a couple of options at the start of the year that haven't come to fruition, for one reason or another, yet we're still skinny in that position," he said.\

"He'll be a good buy for us. His attack's very good. He sniffs around the ruck, that's his game and that's what we need at the moment. He's good under the high ball, his defence is good, he's got a lot of pluses."'**
McKinnon said he was desperate to re-ignite his career with some regular NRL starts at the Tigers.
"I feel I have plenty more to offer and can't wait to team up with a very talented squad at the Wests Tigers ," he said.
McKinnon has been one of the Warriors most consistent players since crossing from Parramatta in 2007.
But after battling a serious knee injury in 2008 and returning to earn a City Origin call-up last season, the former Eels and Rabbitohs custodian battled for a look-in with the Ivan Cleary-coached side this year.
Tigers CEO Stephen Humphreys said that McKinnon was a good fit for the club.
"He will be a valuable addition, particularly as we have a number of injured players at present," Humphreys said.
"There is no doubt that Wade is a quality player and he is keen to re-establish his career with Wests Tigers.
"His attacking style of play and ability to find the tryline will be great assets for us."

Meaney? lol he'll never play first grade. Mullaney will, but not this season. So what's the problem with signing a former rep fullback??
Mckinnon's the best fullback we've had since Hodgo in 2005\. Obviously Sheens had decided Lote at fullback isn't the best idea which is correct. Sheens has perhaps finally realised that if he doesn't perform this season he's gone. Realising fullback has cost us dearly in recent weeks he's gone for a guy who'd be cheap, hungry and played rep footy only last year.
If he drops Fitzy to the bench (at least) for the dogs game we'll know he's really serious. A few catches against the Knights doesn't make Fitzy a first grade quality back again. Having him on the bench i could possibly tolerate. Beau is a much better winger than Fitzy.
