Tigers sign McKinnon - effective immediately

On the request from the Warriors that Mckinnon didnt play friday against them …..stuff em Sheens, he would have a lot to prove against his old club.....run him on I say

Sensational signing.

Have a look at our form over the last 6 weeks.. if they say here is McKinnion, or an Toyota/NSW CUP Player.
Who are u honestly going to pick. For me right now McKinnion in a heartbeat

Hopefully Meaney will get his chance at the end of the year to be signed up too top 25 if he keeps his current form going.

I dont think he gets here until the weekend… ?

awesome signing!!! really havent managed to get a seure fullbak since hodgson, and i know that its not great for the younger fellas but if we dont think about this season right now then whats the point of having a team? bringing an experienced player in to an area where we dont have an experiene is the most sensible move the club has made since bringing in lote!

Good solid signing to add some experience and a bit of spark to the fullback position.
Ryan has done well playing there, i especially like the way he has run the ball back hard and with purpose on most occassions.

I do wonder, like others, how this will impact on the guys in the juniors.
Mullaney will no doubt get his chance, but as we've seen the step up from 20's to the top grade is a big one both physically and skill wise, and this signing will allow Mullaney and others Mature that little bit more as well as having a top flight fullback to learn from at training.

Should be a good signing. Have always rated him even back in his Rabbitohs days and would of wanted him at Tigers years ago if it wasnt for Hodgo. Hopefully he can show some of that good form from couples years ago.

McKinnon is an angry fullback. Wasn't he the one that smashed up the sink in the changerooms after being sent off at Campbelltown? Hope he fits in with the rest of the team ok, and has calmed down a bit. (Just a little bit!)

Yes he was,but he shouldn't have been sent, and he got let off,but I am stoked he has signed,I hope this means Fitzy is banished, but I highly doubt it.

Angry is good! Could be the agro we have signed in ages. agro/mongrel/attitude is exactly what this team needs a good dose of.

I have always rated this bloke. Hohia IMO is a real star, so playing second fiddle to him is like Farah missing out on an Aussie jersey cause Smith is there. Good signing team

Beau Ryan, Daniel Fitzhenry back new boy Wade McKinnon

RATHER than feeling threatened by the signing of Wade McKinnon, Wests Tigers duo Beau Ryan and Daniel Fitzhenry believe the club's new recruit will only help reignite the club's premiership hopes.

Ryan and Fitzhenry, who have shared the fullback role this season, stand to lose the most as McKinnon sets his sights on the club's No. 1 jumper.

But they said they would not let McKinnon's signature distract them from tonight's game against New Zealand, which has been labelled a "must-win" by assistant coach Royce Simmons.

Ryan joked about the new recruit when he arrived for training at Campbelltown yesterday.

"I've just got a call from McKinnon, he's got in from New Zealand and wants me to pick him up at Leumeah station," he said.

"Wade is a quality player and from all reports he's a great guy.

"Obviously he plays in the same position as Fitzy and myself, but I can't worry about that because every year I've had somebody in front of me for a position and I've had to overcome that."

McKinnon will start training with the Tigers next week.

A masterstoke by Tims Sheens and Wests Tigers management. This will fill the void left by Moltzen and will get our season back on track. Semi finals now a formality

A little too early to be making claims like that. It's well documented that even though he was in top form 2 years ago, the guy has a short fuse and is a maniac on the field and could well wind up being sin binned more than once.

I hope anger management training was written into his contract.

If nothing else the signing provides extra pressure on our backline to perform. This cannot ever be a bad thing.

Sheens wanted him before he went to NZ and now he gets a chance to see what he can offer the Wests Tigers.

It's win all around

Meanwhile, former Warrior Wade McKinnon will need to overcome a hamstring injury before debuting for new club the Tigers.

Simmons said McKinnon was likely to be two weeks away from NRL action.

So, does that mean two weeks or is it tigerspeke for a month?

I'm impatient to see McKinnon out on the paddock for us.

Haha I don't… I want to see someone from the Tigers with a bit of 'mean' in em!

I admire the fact that he has a bit of mongrel about him, just not when it has the potential to have him sitting on the sideline for 10 minutes every second match

Fitzy could let in five tries tonight and still have his claim on the #5 next week Smeg.

The best part about the signing of Wade McKinnon is that he doesn't cost the Tigers a penny. I believe his contract falls under the Warriors salary cap so Tim thought, why not. Makes this signing even better!

Good signing for the tigers bye bye Daniel Fitzhenry i hope you never get back into the first grade side ever again, Beau Ryan will go back to his wing and we will win more games with a proper fullback.
