He was vibrant tonight..his first carry nearly lead to a try, and he nearly scored one if lino didnt hold him back

Yeah that should have been at least a penalty to Wests Tigers. Because Ponga was so close I could not give it a penalty try. If you are upright you can’t hold someone back who doesn’t have the ball but apparently you can if they are on or close to the ground and to the try line (sarcasm). The entire on and off field officials plus the bunker missed it.

I agree it was a penalty try. At least a sin bin.

I think Reynolds showed enough last night that he can be an NRL number 9. If he trains in this position now and through the pre-season I am sure he can improve.

He is a good player and competitor and I would rather have him on the field. Benji was great at 9, but then he wasn't at 6 and our right side attack suffered.

6 Marshall
7 Brooks
9 Reynolds
13 a strong defensive player (Huth/ET) to make 50 tackles in the middle to take the defensive pressure off Reynolds.

I think Liddle is similar in attack, better in defence and hasn't shown a kicking game. Having Liddle at 9 means you can have a more attacking 13, but he will not be available for at least the first half of next year.

Josh and his partner were at the finals of the local soccer at Lilli Pilli oval yesterday. He engaged well with the public talking and having photographs taken with those who want them. It was really well done.

I went back to the Wests Leagues Club after the game last night....The couple I was with were from Menai in Sydney and made the trip to Campo to support our mighty team..We organised dinner in the new Chinese restaurant in the club, guess who was the only WTs player to mingle with the fans and sign kids auotographs..I didn't meet him because I had to ring the missus to see how things were going...GRUB...He is a deadset great guy and if most on here think he didn't contribute to that great win, think again,I have rarely seen a team perform with that much enthusiasm and vigour once Grrub got on and into it..

I think Reynolds is a very good player. Problem is, where does he play? 5/8? We have one, at about a quarter of his price, and Reynolds is not 4 times better than Benji. Play him at hooker? It's not his position. Consider we are paying him around $800k, it's too much, there's the problem. Not Josh's fault, Ivan's fault. Same as Packer, Mats, McQueen, Rochow (remember him, whatever happened to him).

Hope Reynolds next step, wherever it is, he smashes it

Matterson's HIA had a lot to do with that, though during his absence, Taylor got through a mountain of work, both on and off the ball.

We as a club can continue to hope Benji plays for ever as much as we love him and he continues to deliver.

He is our crutch and we need to be planning 2020 and beyond.

I'm not sure that JRey is that player though.

Matterson looked a bit spaced for the rest of the game after that HIA. Matterson can play 6 but it is not his best position and he is our best forward. Hopefully Madge can come up with the combination that uses our squad to its best advantage.

@Madge i know and thats a big issue

Get Brooks defending in the middle

Who will crunch the other teams wide running back rowers then..?

Benji of course

I hope we keep reynolds and he plays the 9 for us....he plays his guts out every time he puts the jersey on. The enthusiasm rubs off on the entire team and he is constantly putting pressure on the opposition. It would be interesting to see his stats from the games he's played for us....I don't remember a game where he's had a bad one, excluding injuries of course. From memory he's either set tries up or scored them....leads the team around the park....

I don't know what to do about Reynolds, he is not our best 5/8th and he is not good enough at hooker. He adds to the team with his enthusiasm but where to play him is the question.

I’d go the same 17 (unless Mbye if 100% ) I guess Matterson plays 6 when Benji is at 9. For the first 25 mins. Then Reynolds comes into the 9 and Benji to 6.

Personally I hope we keep Reynolds next year. He’s been such a positive influence on the field over the last couple of weeks.

Seem to recall the POM saying in his last post (or the last one I read) that management will be monitoring Reynolds closely at dummy half. If he performs, they may reconsider releasing him.

@TillLindemann. Unless some team pays his full freight and we replace him with someone a lot better and cheaper. This seems unlikely.
I doubt Benji will play every round next year. with the team playing as it has over the last few games. I hope all of our current 17 are with us next year.
Considering Farah retiring and Liddle’s injury.

Putting his salary aside.

He can play as a utility. If Liddell recovers from injury for next season, he starts at 9 and Reynolds comes on. If we get our pack, 3 forwards on the bench is plenty.

Reynolds has busted shoulders before he signed with the Tigers to the extent Hassler wouldn’t play him at hooker. If Marshall plays on next year, these last few games will assist in lowering the amount the club has to pay to move him on.

It’s in his best interests also he’s a 5/8. He can extend his career in the position. We simply need to sign a hooker for next year.

marshall had busted shoulders too and we persevered with him....

I think reynolds can add to the club...apart from his injuries when he's on the field he is one of our more passionate players

I think we have little choice to keep him. If we release him for half or less whan what we signed him for and we struggle to find someone decent to replace him, is it worth it anymore?

Liddle is out 2020. Farah is gone. They would need to execute some very smart signing situation to make it worth the bother of releasing him IMO.

The POM said in a previous post that if we do release him, we will not be paying much freight. He also said that if he made a success of dummy half, they may not release him at all.
