Tigers to offload Heighington

Good bye, has offered nothing for some years now. Finally the club (if true) is moving in the right direction and getting rid of one of the old boys that has deserved to be dropped on so many occasions. It seems with this club if you can manage to do your boots up and run out on the park at the right time its an auto selection for the next week. Wasted jersey with him in it. I used to love watching him play and was one of my favourites but so was Galea, Wilson and Whatuira. Way past it and time to move on. Now just offload Ayshford, Moltzen and Sheens, the terrible recruitment guy and then sign a new recruitment guy, a big name prop, a big name halfback and finally the club can move forward for this off season …........... Dreamin'

what a disgrace ill admit i dont think he adds alot to our team but the bloke has a contract and no one can question his loyalty, which he has shown plenty in the last 10 yrs have a look at that oxygen thief blair before heino atloeast he has a go with what hes got

I'm torn on this. He has been a great clubman and is our most experienced forward. But he has been inconsistent for a little while now and while his work-rate is good, his impact is less. I think the club has to move on from him but they aren't going the right way about it.

What is a contract????We can shop around long serving players, but we cant flick a coach because he has a contract???

Poor form by the way the club is handling this… But being honest Rhino has become very ineffective, whether it's the way he is coached to play or whether age has caught up with rhino I don't know.....

Seriously the club cannot win! Halfway through the year everybody was saying its time for Heighno to move on. Now that it may be happening the grandstand will be ripped down. He started to play well when all this Luke Lewis stuff was happening. And Im sure the Sharks would want him? They are short in the backrow! Gallen, Lewis, Graham, Bukuya and Tupou.

Benji 6

Halfway through the season Rhino was playing crap and thats why people wanted him gone

His last 4 weeks imo were his best games in three seasons

This club is a heartless bunch of morons who haven't a clue what to do , so they just do what Sheens tells them

I will wet myself if Rhino is picked up by another club and starts making 130 metres a game and has a 95% tackle completion rate

Maybe the NRL's 17th expansion team should be an Ex Wests tigers side We'd just need to get R.Farah to jump ship with Rowdy and Woodsy and we'd be laughing

It was said on the news that the Tigers told him that he could look at other offers. Does this mean that he is sacked or is it like Scott Prince at the Titans, no one wanted him so he stayed put and played well for the whole season?

Once again, the media claim something so everyone thinks it must be true. And secondly, if it is true, he is still contracted and can look around if HE wants to. He has not been sacked. There is a difference! If he chooses to stay, he will be paid a full contract.

I wonder why some jump at the club immediately when these things happen. By all means have an opinion, but he has not been sacked.

Yep you are right… But you want to know what u don't understand? The club is telling him he won't be here after 2013\. So as a player what do u do? Stay here for the last year if your contract because you are stubborn, get injured and can't secure a deal for beyond 2013, or swallow your pride and secure a 2-3 year deal else where.

This is nothing compared to what will happen in rugby league in the next decade. This kind of thing will become a regular occurrence. Get used to it

If Hino gets a deal for season 2013, which will have him at another club, where-ever it is then jump at the chance.
he needs to secure his future.
if it is in NRL good on him.
No one would be grudge him this, and no doubt we would all enjoy watching him flourish under a different coach.
if not then enjoy the chance he may have to live and play overseas for a while.

I think he will head off to the uk. He averaged over 100m a game and 25 tackles this year and played IMO his best footy in years in the last 8 weeks when he seemed to bulk upand run harder after his injury. If he can secure a big contract in the uk then fair call to him. As for letting him go well better a year early then a year late and mayby this yr he can get himself a big co tract in the uk while if he played off the bench or got dropped next year then he wouldn't be able to secure the same deal for the year after -f
Given that I think giving him this option is the kind of reward a club offers a player who has been such a great servant so well done tigers for doing the right thing by Highno

Not sure about this being a reward?!

I do recall a few on here calling time in Rhino a few months back, plus many who felt there was no place for both Rhino & Fults in the same team?

Either way, he has been a good servant to the club and if Sheens & Rhino cant get along, maybe it is a good thing for him.

Good Luck C W Heighington!!!

Despite what people think the club is doing the right thing by heigno. They have let him know he is not part of their plans after 2013, if he can secure a deal on a longer basis then that is better for him. Same happened with galea hodgson oneil etc…. Its nothing new.

The worst thing the club could do for Chris is not let them know of their plans.

As another posted he probable was told no
New contract from next year,ok so if he can get a three year deal from next year it works out well for him good luck as with Gibbs.

Well said gun ppl just don't understand sometimes, we could be like parra nd sack coaches yr after yr. look at there success players should be put on spot more than coaches I think who ever come up with idea of moving hieghno on its very good for the club. Promote a 20's player

I agree, for mine CW is our 3rd option at lock, Fulton, Sironen, CW.
For last few years he provided no impact in attack, too often stopping at the 1st defender.
By saying that, he is a good club man, always putting an effort, but I am happy to let him go.

Im not disappointed we are letting Heighno go.

He's old, slower, has no size, has no influence on a game. He tries his heart out, but you can get guys who try there heart out and actually have 1 of the other 4 attributes i listed. The only thing that is disappointing is is i think heighno deserved a "last game" send off.

I don't think he will go though, id be surprised if anyone in the NRL wanted him.

Sad to see him go but he is on the decline hasn't really made any impact this year like previous years
