Tim Grant - Commits till 2018..

I'd offer an extra 2 years. As someone stated earlier, there are not many props up for grabs at present. He's not a starter anymore, but gets the job done from the bench. He's a proven performer and won't be on top tier money.

I kinda agree. I kinda think "who should we take a punt on". A lot of players looked in isolation will be "we should hire him".

Jamal Idris vs Tim Grant. Tim will at best get back to an above average 1st grade prop. Jamal has a huge potential but is less likely to achieve it.

Even then I would go Jamal. I think him reuniting with Reynolds will be a good thing. But we need to look from team down, not player up.

Been very good in the back end of the year. A slow start to the year, sure, but he has been one of our more willing forwards in recent times.

He played well again today its amazing what happens at contract renewal time.

Lol, yes why can't he do this all of the time? I really hate it when players only turn it on to get a new contract then go into their shell again once they've signed on. Just bloody play like it all the time!

He looks like he is playing without an injury. Always been a fan but he has at times lumbered which made me question fitness. Been good of late so I hope a reasonable contract extension is on the cards.

I think maybe reuniting with Cleary has got him going again remember Ivan punted him from Penrith he knows it's us or superleague

As well as he has been playing the last few games, i would only have him for the 12 months if he takes up the option, his service over the 2018 season will be a big help to players like Twal, but long term we dictate now with Ivan in charge

Having Grant coming on with Twal off the bench to give Matulino and Packer a spell would be fine. Having an experienced prop is never a bad thing and he'd be decent cover if anything happens to Packer or Matulino too. I wouldn't go further than 2 years though.

Just wanted to query this with the talk of the forum being interested in Graham.
I'm really liking the way Grant is playing at the moment and he seems to be doing really well starting.
My thoughts are he is a cut price forward compared to Graham who is committed and is starting to run hard.
Matolino has a lot more to his game and can provide fed just the right amount of impact.
Would it work if Grant stayed on to start alongside Packer with Mats and Twal off the bench?
This is after all a budget option as oppose to signing someone like Graham.
Thoughts?

Can't see why not. Matulino is great impact off the bench, as is Twal. I didn't really want to keep Grant previously, but geez his game has come on really well under Cleary over the past few weeks. I didn't think he still had it in him tbh, but he has proven me wrong and is going great guns. I would re-sign him and keep him as a starter, especially if we are not looking at buying any more props for now.

It has been mentioned previously, but Grant has an option for next year should he choose to exercise it.

That's pretty much along the lines of how I was thinking. He does have pretty bad lateral movement and has been exposed a number of times when isolated but I believe that is something that the team can work harder at to cover. On the weekend when API shot through the middle it was both Markers on the ground and Grant at A defender with woods inside him and Tui a long way outside him.

Curious about his contract situation and require clarification. Grant has a one year option.
Is it in his favour or the clubs?

Does anyone know if he is being offered an extension beyond next year or are the club happy to keep him for just the final year next year?
