Tim Moltzen 2015 player profile

You cant doubt his courage and tenacity in coming back from the injuries that he has had, hope he can transfer said courage and tenacity to his play

Yes no one would wish those injuries on anyone. However he is not exactly going to retire with the contract he is on. Its not like he is this brave warrior, doing it for nothing.

He has had what 3 knee injuries. And he was soft/gun shy before those injuries. I wish him an injury free year however anyone expecting him to get anywhere near nrl standard i think are being optimistic.

I suspect this will be Moltzen's last season with us. If he does remain it will be on a greatly reduced contract.

Some should give the guy a break. Basically the club showed him the path to the dragons, then when things went sour again with Lui, decided that he should break that agreement and stay with us.

He was injured when playing and training for WT, so he deserves to be rehabilitated and then have another shot whilst under contract. Apart from seemingly not wanting to return kicks when playing at the back, I think he goes alright.

He has done it tougher than most players injury wise, but still has his chin up. Hope he takes whatever comes his way this season with both hands, and finds the sort of form he has shown in the past.

I think he's in the position Austin was with us last yr. No matter how he plays, he'll just be trying to beef up his resume for another team to take him on in 2016.

I hope that we 'moved on' from Moltzen and Lawrence as FG's (based on the form in the last few years).
Re: Moltzen as FB, he has time and time again shown that he will not under any circumstance, return the ball at speed (e.g. like JT for instance), his only options were: pass the ball, or stop and surrender. As a result we started our attack from our 10 or 20 meters. Also,he dropped so many bombs it is not funny :frowning:
Moltzen at #7 or 6, his short kicks are awful and did he ever tried long kick ?
Re: Lawrence - no speed, no footwork, and he is not strong enough to break tackles, so we usual;y play without LC in attack. In defense because of limited lateral movement and speed he is an easy target, add to that his poor reading of the game and we have permanent hole at LC :frowning:,
I hope experiment with Lulia and Lawrence is history, and our priorities are players like:
Simona, Fine, Naiqama, Seve, Milone etc.

Go Tigers :sign:

Very I'm lucky bloke feel sorry for him but( it is what it is).
Hopefully he can turn around in 2015.

We see too many good young bloke's careers cut short by injury in this game.
Would be nice to see him go well and prove the doubters wrong.
Hope it all falls into place for him this time.

The big thing about Moltzen was that he was one of a very small number of players who seemed to be able to anticipate what Benji was about to do and position themselves for it. The other was Beau Ryan.

In his current station, all he can does try to develop a combination with the team's new playmakers, because he is essentially a support runner.

Hard to forget the negative aspects of his game, though there were positive as well…some of his D was gutsy, and as mentioned his support play was very good.

Will take a massive turnaround for my opinion of him to change

His d is very underrated. Very good defender.

But talk of his support play being good I can't agree with. He supported Benji beautifully, but he didn't support anyone else at all.

He'll be first reserve for fullback and the halves, once he has played a few weeks.
Odds are we will see him the top grade for a games.

I think centre is his best position and it is a position which needs strengthening in 2015\. He will be playing centre in first grade sooner rather than later.

Realistically, Moltz would be at least 3-4 months away from even being considered as an NRL backup player.

He's played no more than 10 games in 3 years. He has zero match fitness or confidence. That would take a long time to gain the confidence needed to be able to do everything at full speed. If he can't /won't then he'll never play NRL again.

His defence was pretty average from memory too. Quite small and got shrugged off a number of times. 85kgs is small for a centre, Simona's hardly huge but he's 92kg. Front on ok perhaps his technique is ok, but like Lawrence whenever he has to move he's found wanting.

Lawrence is down to 93 kgs now BB

Our biggest centre now would be Lulia
