Tim Moltzen signs with the Dragons

Why have all these blokes been signed on long deals and THEN released?

Something very, very strange is going on. If we have two massive signings to announce = okay.

If all this is just because we are in cap hell from years of backloaded contracts…......and there are no big signings to come.........

yeah what has suddenly changed? yes things having exactly gone to plan on the field, but injuries happen, you'd think that would factor in somewhat.

Terrible decision by Humphreys, and he is looking like a fool, he is better off saying no comment instead of saying the rubbish he has been saying

Hmmmm, seems the apple hasn't fallen far from the tree.

Good luck to Tim at the Dragons. Could find himself wearing the 14 jersey quite a bit there though with some of the talent at the Dragons.

Congrats to Tim for finding a club willing to show him some belief and offer a 3 year contract

All the best to him and I hope he rediscovers some of the great form he showed for us in his earlier years.

Has the manner in which Sheens has used him allowed the Tigers to shop him? His market price would have dropped dramatically from the beginning of the season…

I think at this point it probably suits us.

We are obviously rebuilding which I think has been because of poor cap management and getting rid of a bunch of players should help.

Don't know what to think of this, but I question the timing of it all and why this is suddenly all happening now? There was NO sign of anything like this happening at the beginning of the year, no talk of it, nothing, yet now, after a string of injuries that would make any other team struggle, suddenly they think it's a good idea to cause more disruption?

Honestly, it appears someone has hit the panic button and is making some fairly rash decisions.

Its all occured since Sheens knocked back Penrith and screwed an extra season out of Humpty to re-sign until 2014 :master:

Is it just me, or is everyone starting to slit their wrists like as if Andrew Johns just left our team. Moltzen was a talented footballer with potential, the problem is, if the potential isn't realised and just keeps dragging on, it's time to cut ties and find someone who has already realised that potential.

tim will not get a game in the dragons top 17 teen, just like all, the other tigers who went before him, not unhappy to see him go.

We should have kept Moltzen at halfback since Prince left and got someone like Andrew Johns as an assistant coach to help Moltzen with his kicking and organising. If Wests did that then the combination of Moltzen and Marshall in the halves would be one of the best in the NRL by now.

wasn't he told by management he could look elsewhere?
he has, and secured his future for next three years.
so why is management annoyed.
you can't have your cake and eat it as well.
good on him, and best wishes for future.

Agreed 100% The club tell him he is free to look else where, so he looks else where the Drags snap him up and now Humpty is upset about the timing. WHY??????? As a supporter Iam pretty [edited by mods] with the timing of the big cleanout

I thought june 30 was the deadline for all deals so the rest of the season is not tied up with rumours and publicity over where players are playing next year. It doesnt make sense and really upsets the fans for all clubs. Even worse when stuff is announced earlier in the season like jamal idris going to titans being announced in first few rounds.

Didn't they scrap the June 30 deadline at the end of 09?? Either way I think it only applied to "free agents" who weren't contracted for the following seasons.

I'm all for a trade week mid season during the origin period, that way this rubbish doesn't drag out for so long

The issue is that WT had not officially released Moltzen. Technically he is still under contract for WT next year so until we sign off on releasing him from that obligation, the Dragons should not be making announcements about his future.

I'd agree if you said the club has no place complaining that Moltzen's management spoke to the Dragons or negotiated a contract - as you say he had permission to do so. But there is a big difference to actually signing something and announcing it.

this looks poor on our behalf. we want him to leave, he cuts a deal, we ARE going to let him go, and then we whinge about the announcement publicly? if the timing is an issue then that should be dealt with between the two CEOs not aired out in the media.

I think the only real issue is that the Dragons announce it on the day of a game for the Tigers. If they announced it today- probably nobody has an issue.

I agree with Humphrey's- they should have let the Tigers play, and released the announcement- or allowed the Tigers to announce it, either today or Monday.

a couple of my mates who are saints fan are over the moon with signing moltzen.

Im gutted, i think he will be a very good player.

You cant keep them all i guess
