Tim Moltzen

If Moltzen is at fullback and we are forced to watch his kick returns I think I will vomit.

I agree Hybrid…DO NOT want to see Tim playing fullback when we have so many more who are better suited there.

Brownie was awesome at the end of the year...during the games that counted. Between him, Macca, Mullaney...even Ryan , Moltz is way down the list as a no.1.

Look this is my view but from every game i saw Moltz at halfback he wasnt PLAYING HALFBACK! Marshall was! Moltz didnt control anything, he was playing more of a 5/8, Marshall was the one getting into 1st receiver and was directing play the whole time with Farah, but when Lui is at 7 we saw Marshall was running alot more and everyone knows Marshall is at his best when he RUNS the ball, you could see towards backend of the season Marshall really started to have confidence in Lui and let Lui plays his natural game which helped Marshall get into the best form we've seen him in..

WTC,

That wasnt just your view.

If Lui can build on the performance in the semis (best on park against the Dragons for mine), he is my 7.

For me Moltz is either a centre, supersub (but with his skill he needs to preferably be on the whole time) or a 2nd Rower! I know that sounds weird but if he packed on another 5-8kgs he could be lethal in the backrow and **Sheens has even said before he could see Moltz end up in the backrow**, Lui has already proven to be a better halfback then Moltz and give him another year or 2 and Lui is going to be AWSOME!! Moltz runs some great lines off Marshall passes when at fullback plus his playmaking skills are helpful back there BUT he's not great at reading the defence when at FB and also isnt great under the highball, don't get me wrong i won't complain if Sheens plays him there but yeah i just dont think its his best postion..

sheens says that about everyone lol

Has to be McKinnon or Brown at fullback.

I agree with either of these 2, both run the ball back with confidence and are decent under the high ball.
If fit Mck will get first crack no doubt..

As Moltz has been out for so long, will Sheens put him in State Cup for a few weeks or will he slot straight

back into the NRL side (somewhere)? Same for Tui?

Tuiaki will be for sure in reggies… Moltz i think may have a few games there to... but i wouldnt expect Tui to be back in 1s for at least 4 to 6 weeks

Your other post saying Moltzen is a centre is one i disagree with, but i agree with this post. Moltzen has never played halfback for us, he's played 5/8 and its clearly his best position.

I worry that having Lui at 7 and Moltzen at 1 we have too many ballplayers. The way both Robbie and Marshall get into first reciever and control most things, i believe both Motlzen and Lui compliment this mix well, however, only one of them in the team, not both. May the best man win.

Depends how he goes in the trials I guess. For both of them.

Well Mr Watto..

IF ,,,, you had actually read any of my posts on the subject of the halfback position and the Wests Tigers in the last 12 months to 2 years you will find that i agree with weststigercraig 181%.sort of…Excellent first couple of posts BTW Craig..

Now..probably not for the last time .....cause you are from Queensland...here is how I see It..

Wests Tigers did away with the halfback position when Price left for greener pastures on the Hole Coast QLD..since then Sheensy has been experimenting with a 1 3 4 6 9 13 and at times 15 combo to play 7..

I refer to it as interchangeable....

Now to the subject of Tim Moltzen....

Motzen as pointed out by Sirro is a 5/8th..funny so is Lui, Aysh, Bunji, Fulton, and developing Lawry...diff topic that..

The reason he should wear the 7 junmper is obvious..Moltz compliments Benji better than anyone in the Club Ive seen since Prince left...They have an insictive combination that is rare in rugby league...His Best Position is 7 in our structure but if he is at 1 so be it he must be in the starting team...

Now if that is to hard to understand Watto...

Oh LOL at Souff's

Thanks for posting that link Geo, some amazing stuff there. Timmy Moltzen is a superstar!

And, yep, a big lol at Souffs!

While I agree Tim is a 6, I only saw 1 play in that video which proved your point. If anything, this video emphasizes Craigs position further that his best strength is his running game. Our sad predicament is the 6 won't be available until Benji can mature further to play within himself. At that time, Benji will play Halfback… Further to your perception that the Tigers got rid of a Halfback once Prince left, when you have no options, you have no choice.

The key to finding the solution is Marshall. I believe Benji is more dangerous when he doesn't touch the ball every second or third play, and the only way this can happen is we develop a 7 who can direct play and know when to settle a ruck... I think we all agree Moltzen is simply a younger version of Marshall.

Robert Lui on the other hand can play 7 and it will give us a second/third demension in discipline. While he too will develop and grow, it will be interesting where he ends up but he is more suited to continue his development at 7 at this stage. I'd prefer to watch a video of Moltzen directing traffic to justify you position he can play 7\. (Don't go looking, as it doesn't exist!!!)

This might be left field, but could we rest Robbie for 15-20minutes a game to increase the game time of either Moltzen or Lui in the 14???

Beat me to it Watto.
Quality footballer but that video really highlights that he's not a 7.
Moltzen 3 with Ayshford at 14 is the best suggestion so far for mine.

I think we really missed that pace this year and the bloke sure knows how to throw a dummy.

I agree with everyone else here, Ashford to the bench, Moltz into the centres… or Ashford to the Wing, Moltz to Centre and Beau to the bench.

I really think Moltz has the best support play out of the 3 fullback options. He just isn't as reliable.
