Tim Sheens

We busted our guts to sign Sheens up so Penrith wouldnt sign him, then 12 Months later we got rid of him with 2 Yrs left on his contract. He is entitled to his Money, put yourself in his position.

I totally disagree. He said he would walk if we didn't make the finals. We didn't so he should walk.

This guy is smiling all the way to the bank, he would love to see us fold, the man is lower then a snakes bum, part ways mate and move on, the board needs to cut the cord, let him find a job, which I think no one will have him, you can see the problems potter is having trying to coach the silly stuff the old coach put in them. Defence wasn't his strong point.

Why would he want us to fold? What a ridiculous comment! He gave us 10 years, and whilst many wouldn't agree with his style or methods, he set up a decent junior system and won us a comp.

We should never of resigned him when the Panthers were chasing him - that was foolish. But to soil the man's credibility with this rubbish is unfair and unwarranted.

Mate, money is everything in our game, and we are not getting what we paid for, the guy is sitting on behind laughing at us, so I've got no time for him :sign:

Humpty shouldve got it in writing, but contracts are as weak as water these days anyway…..so an off the cuff comment means next to little if nothing at all

Sheens will enjoy the payback for being sacked
And because the way he was shunted he will be in no hurry to reach any agreement.

To make things worse, The Australian Coach - Yes Sheens wont pick WT players as a payback for no support when he was shown the door.

You dont need a back up hooker when you have Cam Smith but he still used to give Robbie a chance cause he favoured him..

Well said Smurf.

He was definitely stale and past his use-by date when we got rid of him but the fact is he was great for our club when he first came here, there is no doubt about that.

Can't see why people hate the bloke, he is entitled to be paid the money that he is owed.

Southerntger spot on. What annoys me is his contract must have been a piece of rubbish, with no protection for the club, I guess typical of the Boards quality of contracts, such as if he didn't perform there was an out clause for the club or at a minimum he must accept another role to be paid.
The fact he's swanning around being paid for NOTHING, nothing at all is what irks me.
He is entitled to be paid, there is a contract, but for NOTHING?

100% for nothing.
He signed a contract to COACH the Tigers for an 'agreed' specified time. The club then stands him down as coach, hires another coach and offers him a lesser role.

He is getting paid to do absolutely nothing at this club because it is this club's decision, not his.

Yeh Im guessing it was specified his role was "Wests Tigers NRL head coach"…anything else doesnt come into it.

My roles are specified in my contract - they are clear

Show me a first grade coach who hasn't been paid out in recent years. Smith, Anderson, Kearney, Henjack… They sign to be coach for a specified time and if the club changes it's mind the club has to pay.
Sheens stayed with the tigers knocking back a much larger offer from the panthers out of loyalty to the club and players.
If he was on 200k a year he would have just been paid out and no one would have blinked, but he was one of the premier coaches, on large money and is owed more than we can afford so it drags on and on and on.
Clubs like parra newcastle and the dogs would be in the same situation if they sacked their coaches because there's no way they'd have a couple of mill to pay the coach out.
It only annoys us because the club chooses to play out business arrangements and contract negotiations in the public arena instead in private like any responsible business.

Not quite right iirc….he DID get an extension and/or salary upgrade

The whole thing has a Humprheys feel about it. In the corporate world, your moved sideways, however you still perform a role for the organisation, positively contributing towards the goals of the business. Humprheys B bear being an Ex. British Airways Executive, would have thought Shifty Hseens would just have shifted into a reduced role… And re-appoint another coach. Instead Sheens I milking it for all it's worth (as per Many, many have outlined rightly so, as he did have a contract).. I'd like to see him swallow his prid snow that Humphreys has gone, & do some junior development work. We all know this area is one of his strongest parts of his make-up.

This just reinforces my view that the Wests Tigers board is the main thing holding the Wests Tigers back from being successful. To sign the coach up for three years then fire him after one just shows the ineptitude of those who are running the place. When you have the calibre of people such as Dawnie, Weatherman Mike, Sirro etc …. Making multi million dollars business decisions its no wonder we find ourselves in predicaments such as these. Decent, respectable people they are ... Professional business people they are not.

Humphries was responsible for Sheens re-signing disaster and numerous player contracts not worth paper written on or handshake.. Including Benji

WT board does not always have a influence or say on these issues.

Where did you get that idea from? WT is a 50/50 board so no one 'side' had no more real influence then the other..
