Tim Simona - Deregistered

I must admit, I now want to go back through our games last year and see the tries we conceded on his side - look for anything subtle.

I think he's screwed either way. Whether he is found guilty of it or not. If he played again every error he makes, defensive lapse etc is going to have everyone around him wondering whether he's got a bet going.

He would have been one of the last blokes at WT I would've thought ( allegedly) be involved in that sort of thing

True he wouldnt be able to miss a tackle or throw a bad pass without speculation as to the reason for it.

Very hard to accept if true. I don't mean hard to believe, I mean hard to stomach.
Anyone who bought a ticket to a game a player did something like this in has been robbed, and mocked for their trouble.

Terrible stuff this like many I'm very surprised Tim was involved in stuff like this.

But with the colossal rise of sports betting and the murky world of match fixing i can tell you it will only get worse.

Who knows how many other nrl players are doing it and with the gambling disease australia has it will never go away.

It's all in the timing - He had more talent than most & bets reportedly seem small . He is likely to get less 2nd chances than a lot of other colourful characters in the code. It's very much like being the school student caught talking in class after worse transgressors have been previously warned!

A sad situation.

Maybe the NRL will finally give in and stop supporting betting agencies…

Exactly, league has a history of promoting one bad addiction after another. Smokes then booze now gambling.

Time for a change.

That would be the ideal result but i have a better chance of swimming to Antarctica before they do that. Too much money in their coffers.

2GB news have said NRL have handed documents to the NSW Police , this does not sound good at all , but still we need to wait before we hang him

With Lovett also, the club will be on a first name basis with the Local cop shop soon.

He's hardly going to make things glaringly obvious in missing tackles or putting in stupid kicks. There's any number of ways to allow a try to take place or to gently encourage things to happen the way you'd like them to. I don't really accept an argument of his defence was good. Maybe his pace was down, maybe his talk wasn't what it was supposed to be, I dunno, it's just crap to think that once again, our team, our club is in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. God it's hard.

As a centre, you wouldn't have to miss tackles to arrange a particular bloke to score. All you'd need to do is rush up and nail their partner every time they look like getting the ball. So you've backed the winger to score, all you have to do is keep putting rib crackers on his centre and pretty soon they'll go one wider. No one can accuse you of not doing your job when you never missed your opposite number.

I've been very critical of Jordan Rankin's selection on the wing, but if that's what was happening I'd say he had cause to be pretty upset.

This is all alleged of course, so I'll take some deep breaths and give everyone the benefit of the doubt.

It doesn't matter if the bets were $10 or whatever its still horrible look for Tim and the game that a player is allegedly betting on his direct opposite to score tries.

Regardless of who you think might be doing it or whether you feel Tim is being made an example of he got caught and he would have known deep down what a shameful action he was taking.

A 5 year penalty might be fair but he might even get life if proven. Integrity of the game is everything. As people have been saying the NRLs relationship with these betting agencies is a horrible and their inviting this sort of stuff. We used to laugh at over seas sports now its happening in our own back yard and will only get worse.

5 year ban would be a life ban Eddie in my opinion
