I don't wish any ill will on Simona and would like to see him learn from his mistakes and turn his life around - It just won't be in the NRL.

Makes you wonder a bit about why the club refuses to have an investigation into whether there were/are any others that have been into drugs. I would have thought that as he's admitted using with other players, and Lovett obviously has been caught with drugs,that now is the time to do all they can to make sure there is no more skeletons in the cupboard.
I was amazed when the club is not going to look into it further.
I hope that this surprising non action doesn't come back and bite us on the bum later on.

Maybe they could lock all the players in a room for 12 hours with reformed drug users and get them to tell their stories. Offer an amnesty to anyone wanting to make a change for the better, with independent counsellors and assistance, the club doesn't even need to know who takes it up. I mean there might be no one else on hard drugs, but even alcohol and gambling are going to be problematic when you are trying to build a culture of success.
Modern rugby league is a momentum game, if something affects your performance after half an hour of hard work, like it often does with us at the 30 minute mark, you have to ask why are we not getting fitter? Why are we not maturing? What happens to that 100% effort, and drops it so dramatically? I switched the game off on Sunday at about the 60 minute mark because I wasn't seeing enough effort, but up until the 32nd minute I was convinced we would win comfortably. This seems to happen to us a lot. I don't buy that Simona affected our prep, we came out to win, but we weren't physically or mentally in the contest for 20 odd minutes. This happens for a good portion of all our games and that malaise isn't something you can just shrug off.
If we were the Bulldogs or Storm we would be using this to build up a siege mentality, to force these young men to understand they get one chance in their chosen profession. They can't reskill at 40 and try again as professional footballers. If they want to succeed with each other, then they have to be able to trust the guy in the line next to them. You can be compassionate to your mate and back him if there is trust, but you have to be hard on yourself, this is not a game where you can succeed while making excuses for yourself.
An apt statement for the Tigers now is - You have to be ruthless with the opposition, and our biggest opposition is ourselves.
They have to treat every week as now or never, they have to want to succeed as footballers, not just have a good time along the way.

The ex-girlfriend of disgraced star Tim Simona has revealed how she considered self harm after opting to abortion following her relationship with the disgraced Wests Tigers player.
In an interview on the Nine Network, Jaya Taki, who provided information to the NRL about Simona's gambling which led to his de-registration, said she remained traumatised by the relationship.
She called on the NRL to do more in the fight against domestic violence.
"If you so much as threaten a woman, you put your hands on her, you sexually assault her, you force her into an abortion, you emotionally blackmail her, you're gone, indefinite ban," she said.
"We take domestic violence seriously - that's something I want discussed. That's my message."
Taki expressed regret at her decision to have an abortion, and alleged that Simona had guilted her into doing so - only for him to go out partying the day after surgery.
She said she contemplated taking her own life.
"I kept thinking, 'What have I done?' I still feel that way, to say, 'Oh my gosh, I have made this sacrifice so that he can continue partying.'
"It's traumatised me severely. I remember thinking, you're so weak, you didn't even stand up to him. I'm angry at myself. People think what an awful human being I am.
"I can recall a few times when I told my parents to come and pick my daughter up because I had decided to go down to the train station and throw myself in front of a train.
"I kept thinking, 'You're so weak. You chose Tim over your child'."
Taki also distanced herself from revelations Simona had stolen money from auctioned off jerseys meant for charities, including one allegedly set up in the memory of her dead brother.
"I had no idea he was doing that," she said.
"He pushed to me that I should put a jersey up for auction to raise money for my charity, and that's what we did. I have the bank statements to prove that we received money for my charity."

She shouldn't be copping so much flak but her accusations on-air are supremely difficult to digest and support. She is alluding that he threatened, assaulted her etc… you have to take that stuff to the police, not Channel 9 and Dhead Weedler.
