Time for a change at the top :Anasta

Those 2 seasons are light years away when the rest of our spine hasn't even played 50 games combined. By 2017 teddy, brooks and moses will each have played around 60-80 games and would be well on their way to becoming established first graders. Until that time i think its plain stupid to introduce another spine player with 0 experience at the highest level whilst our other playermakers are still finding their feet. From now until 2017, robbie farah is our hooker and most important player however i think it would be smart to use manaia off the bench and around origin time next season to slowly ease him in. I have massive raps on cherrington but can't see him as a full-time hooker any time soon.

I don't believe I am over analysing the situation Telltails. I agree that if we were winning we would not be discussing these issues. We probably would not even be aware of them as an undercurrent. Can we see the through to the management stuff-ups because Wests Tigers are not winning or have the back room machinations caught up with us and ruined morale so we've been playing poorly? We have plummeted dramatically from smashing the dogs to getting smashed by everyone since. Injuries have played a part in that but most have noted a change in attitude.

For the record I'm not, and haven't been, a Farah basher but if he has a role in the mess we are seeing it needs to be sorted.</kup>

At some stage we need to start blooding Cherrington or he will be on the next train to the Sharks

We can't afford to lose Cherrington because if we don't have a link to Teddy ,Brooks and Moses we are buggered

Robbie's defence is good enough to play lock and in attack they can interchange

Tony you need to stop treating Robbie Farah like the sacred golden cow

He has been the greatest Tigers player no doubt , but we need to start planning for life without Farah NOW , not three months before he retires

How am i treating robbie any different to any other player ? I simply don't think it's a smart idea to blood an untried hooker whilst our other play makers are still finding their feet. We have to many players already attempting to learn their trade at the same time and the results are there for everyone to see. I agree, Cherrington needs to be blooded now not in 3 seasons but that doesn't mean it has to be on a full-time basis and that is why i suggested he be used during origin and off the bench to ease him in. Robbie is our most important player (not because his the sacred golden cow in my books) but because he's our only playmaker with any experience.
Also, which club moves the NSW hooker to a different position to accommodate for a 19 year old with great potential ? You have to admit Happy, that sounds pretty crazy…

Geeez happy someone would of thought the hammers lost to Sydney FC or something this morning.. Ohhhhhh wait hahaha

Still finding their feet ??

Moses will be in his 4th season

Brooks will be in his 4th season (5th if you include his debut )

Tedesco will be in his 5th season (6th if you include his debut )

If these blokes haven't stepped up and have taken the reins from Robbie we have made an awful mistake in signing them to long term contracts Tony

Robbie needs to be stepping back and handing control over to the young guns The quicker everyone works this out the better off the Tigers on field performances will become and the better Robbie will become

Happy your misunderatanding me and going around in circles mate ! Thats why im saying wait until 2017 before blooding Cherrington in on a full time basis ! By that time the rest of the spine will be in their 4th, 5th and 6th seasons and we would be able to afford blooding a new player in a key position ! That's why I'm saying Cherrington can't be blooded in now because the rest of the spine haven't even played 50 games combined ! It's not because robbie is to good or manaia doesn't have the potential, it's just bad practice to have your four playmakers attempting to learn their trade at the same time

Considering what occurred leading up to the Dragons with a story that was directly aimed at the relationship of the coach and the captain - agreed that it effected the teams performance. But since then we have lost to Storm, Cowboys, Roosters, and the Bulldogs.Three of those teams have just started to hit top form and have rosters that make our best team look ordinary, let alone the teams we have been fielding. I watched the Warriors at home who are in a much better position than us with players available, cop the same treatment by the Roosters on the weekend. Losing effects morale more than anything and atm our injury situation offers no way out. I am simply saying the situation at board level has been well documented and hopefully will be addressed soon - blame the NRL for that one. I don't believe it is the reason we have been performing badly - we are playing with out a backline and two nineteen year old kids trying to match it against seasoned first graders. It wouldn't matter if Farah was a smiling superman we would still be getting beat. And I admit I am still not sure about Potter, but don't think many coaches could do too much better either.

That's exactly what I said about Cherrington from the start he will be starting in 2017

So why argue about it ??

Every club has to replace champions at some stage , but you need to start planning for it at least two years in advance

To give you an example , look at the Broncos , look how long it has taken them to find a half decent replacement for Langer

At some stage we need to find out that Manaia can cut it at NRL level

Giving him two games during SOO over two seasons isn't enough to find out

I thought Luani would be a good replacement for Robbie , but he won't be

We aren't like other clubs , if our junior plans fail good players just aren't interested in coming to the Tigers

Look at our predicament now , we need centres asap and we can't attract anyone We couldn't even get Beau Champion (Just an example , I think Champion is crap , but he is one of the better options left ) You reckon he wouldn't have been interested in coming to the Tigers if we offered a multi year deal ??

My argument is not based on your point as i agree that Cherrington will be more than ready and capable to step up in 2017\. That argument is moreso directed at forumers believing that we could get rid of Robbie and be better for it as we would be able to promote Manaia. Please tell me it's not just me who thinks that's stupid Happy ?

I do however believe that 2 seasons is light years away and plenty can happen in that time. Who would of thought that Benji Marshall would be playing for the dragqueens next week in 2012.. Who's to say that won't happen again..

This whole circus (Mayer/Farah), is symptomatic of what is happening all over the shop at the WestsTigers. We have CEOs sticking their noses into the football side of things, players wanting to butt into management issues, a Board that isn't able to do anything and poor old coach caught in the middle!
Simply put, the new Board (when elected), needs to get rid of Mayer who is clearly out of his depth, and the new CEO needs to have clear direction from the Board as to what his main objectives need to be. And the players need to be under no illusion as to their role - to play footy and nothing more. No going to the Board asking for this player to be signed or this coach to be sacked or anything else … just play football. If everyone sticks to their role, then maybe this dysfunctional football club can get back on its feet. Unless or until this happens, we'll have more of the same crap every day. And I'm sure, like me, everyone is OVER IT!!!!!!

Good post yeti….
All too often I hear Melb Storm people interviewed about why things work down there so well....and the recurring answer is "Everyone knows their role"
Weve all heard it over & over

Yeah agree with all of that except the "poor old coach' line. The coach is responsible for coaching the team to be successful and the board has every right to revue his performance before re-signing him - just like every other club does. If Potter is not getting the best from our young breed coming through - how long do you give him? If we are going to critique Mayer, and the players then no leave pass for Potter.

Agree entirely that Potters' performance should be critiqued - however, with all the other crap that is going on that is outside his control, it's difficult to get a clear idea of just how well or how poorly he's performed as a coach. Certainly no leave pass - but perhaps some extra leeway?
