Time For Benji Marshall to Retire

Benji did all he could last night to get the WTs home. He couldn't and with the lack of pace (Talau not included) in the backline its doubtful JT could have done more.

To be honest next week I'd be looking at
9 Brooks (if he is not suspended)
7 Benji
6 Reynolds

9 same
7 Reynolds
6 Eisenhuth ...he’s a plodder up front but he’s a great link man .

Eisenhuth? Link man? HA!
Wish he'd link up with reserve grade!

At another club

I have no idea where this thread is coming from. I think Benji is basically our best player at the moment. Matterson is good. Benji creates a lot more than Matterson does.

I agree @watersider, all he had to do was place a ??? at the end of the title. But this way he is obviously showing where he stands with regard to our greatest ever player.

Imo, Robbie didn't retire gracefully @jadtiger, he had a black cloud hanging about himI'm sorry to say.

Benji needs to be dropped. So many defensive overlaps caused by him.

And who would create any, and I mean any opportunities in attack for us?

My boy Josh Reynolds

He has a terrible passing game?

Benji put one on Nofa's foot that ended up back to back tries for manly, and one over the sideline, great passes those

I didn't deny that, but our only chances all game from him, Reynolds would not have created those chances.

We will never know so what’s the point ?

The point is, without Marshall we have zero attack.

He can shine and does, but he also detracts from the game of Marsters beside him for mine, as he requires a hole runner and Esan ain't that.

Better packs those bags @MAGPIES1963, as there are already 340,000 reasons attached. Whether he is there or not, we are that many dollars short in our cap, just like this year.

I don’t think we have much choice but to play Reynolds. I really don’t have a view on him because I haven’t seen him play enough in a Tigers strip. He just hasn’t shown us anything in the time he has been with us. Let him have a run and show us once and for all if there is anything there. We don’t have much else to hope for now and we are short on options.

What do you mean "hasn't shown us anything"? He literally has two man of the matches this year.

I mean he hasn’t shown us anything week to week. We bought him for his skills but we haven’t had the benefit because of injuries. Some on the forum have seen him play CC and don’t rate him. Before I judge him I’d like to see him play first grade some more and the best time is now while we don’t have much to lose.

Would much rather the coach had been playing Josh when we had plenty to lose, rather than simply not selecting him until the no other option point arrives.

Another great post @watersider 😛oint_up: in support of our no. 1 club legend Benji Marshall :v:

Every time he plays he's either scored or set up points, and he plays his guts out all game...I honestly don't know why he isn't playing if he's fit

I really don't think Wayne Bennet says stuff just to be nice @ElleryHanley. I think you will find he uses his words carefully, unlike some people on this forum who open their gob before they put their brain into gear.

After tonight's game against Penrith @cktiger can you really tell me with honesty that Cleary had a better game than Brooks did on Thursday night?
And by the way, did you notice...Penrith's halfback [Cleary] didn't tend to win the game for his team tonight.

Benji for 2020. He’s been and is our best option for 5/8. No one else we have or could possibly get for 2020 comes close. 2021 will be a different story.

Hopefully a replacement emerges next season. Hopefully Brooks comes on as well. Tigers supporters are always hoping.
