Time to Give Credit to JT?

some people just don't understand. if Robbie Farah stays on his $950,000 we would not be able to sign ET or anybody significant for that matter. the same people whining about poor Robbie would be the first to say how can the club let ET go somewhere else with comments like this club is pathetic and hopeless

We cant have it both ways guys and I think some people on this forum must have a very sad life and love nothing more than sticking the boot in at every opportunity

HANG ON , if the club and more so JT had not signed ballin and a couple of other deadwoods the culb could have signed ET. JT has signed a lot of the so call crap to contracts so dont say its robbies fault, i really dont care if he stays or goes but its not his fault in any way get that thur every ones think heads.

We are going much better this year than I imagined we would.
We lost more players still but picked up 2 beauties in Tim Grant and Elijah Taylor. This is Storm like. 2 players unwanted at their club, come here and consistently perform.

Has JT made some glaring mistakes? Yes he has but every coach does, that's part of learning.

Does he appear to have favourite players that upset the fan base? Yep, but every coach does.

JT won't get the credit on here for improving individual players but the improvement that I have seen from our halves these last few months is staggering. I was very critical of them not being able to control their emotions, let alone a game of football, but they are different players now. That's the coach's doing. He has given them belief this year - it is their team to run.

Look, I still have doubts that we will make the 8 but Sheens has let me down in that area more than I can say.

JT will still be our coach next year, put money on it. 2018 and beyond? Pascoe is apparently putting together some tough KPIs for his 3 year plan and without an injection of a couple of proven first graders into our roster, we may come up short of any top 4 finish that I am hearing is the target.

Congratulations JT on the job so far this year. I am usually disinterested by this time because we have been well out of finals contention - this year has been a refreshing change.

Oh and not to mention the complete disbandonment of the famed "boys club". Yippee

Just about every one of our players have improved under jt. If they haven't improved they are playing nsw cup (Siri, Farah) of have been moved on.

If TT is to be believed, next yr we'll be paying Ballin 200k. Idk about you but i'd say that is significantly below what will be required to retain ET. If Souths pay half of what Farah is owed next yr, or close to it, that is 450k. More on par for what ET is worth. So i know what the better result would be.

JT has been good all year, in all but two games we have been right in the contest to he end. We have pushed the Storm to the limit, beaten the Bronks and the Cows. We finally have a team that can push the top teams and that just doesn't just happen and like a good horse trainer he has them peaking at the right time of the year

No matter how well JT goes, there's a significant number of people here that won't ever give him credit. I was angry at Potters demise, and I was damn annoyed at how JT came in and basically ran down the place in terms of how the players were playing and where we were positioned without crediting our circumstances with injury and so on. Then came Taylor ball and I was totally down. But, things have changed. We've been winning when not playing well and every now and then we have a great performance. More improving in terms of the difference between our worse games and our better games and he really should be re-signed. Things are looking very positive in my eyes. Making the 8 this year should not and will not be considered in what lies ahead for him I don't think. Next year is important however. It's very obvious that our players have been on the improve over the last 8 or so weeks. With a few more decisions going our way in certain games we would definitely make it to the finals. A result that few thought possible at the beginning of the season - me included.

i think JT is like a snake in the grass u cant trust him, i will wait till the season ends before pasting judgement., but if its true that we are looking to sign another hooker, the bloke needs hanging gets rid of the SOO hooker and wants to sign JOE nobody, we need a center and a backrower before we sign anyone else. trust me JT will stuff up again and the knifes will be out again.

We have no NSW cup hooker for next year - that's why we're linked with the likes of Mortimer and McIlwrick. They will likely be on second tier deals, or at very least on very little in our top 25.
Cherrington and Farah are leaving, and Ballin/Liddle will cover first grade.

pretty convenient for you to ignore the fact that ET wasn't available until mid-season… he was released by the Panthers... he wasn't available then when Ballin was available. I think if the two were available at the same time then you would find they would've signed ET.

I don't comment much on these forums but I can't let your comment go without it being corrected. Give credit where credit is due. He is molding these players the way he sees fit and he is doing a great job. Win or lose he is making them better players.

Sums it up for me. Gotta keep improving though.

yes and no.

if he is learning to listen to others at the club, good.

nothing suceeds like success,so he deserves credit.

i havent liked what i thought to be an arrogant attitude.but maybe he is changing for the better.

My perspective is as follows:-

1\. We have a really good squad. We have a quality pack especially with the addition of ET and Tim Grant. We have some great fast outside backs. We have potentially a great set of halves. We have if not the best fullback in the comp close to it.
2\. Injuries come down to 90%+ luck.
3\. The main thing that matters is winning games. This needs some qualifications. If you have a dud squad or injuries to key players then I can accept that there needs to be some leeway in judging a coach.
4\. If someone represents the club poorly I don't want them here. I don't like players like Lodge or Mason and I don't think you need players like that at your club to win games. Being hard on the footy field doesn't mean that are are loose off the field.

Last year I think Taylor was the worst coach I have ever seen. He spoke dribble and we underperformed with a good squad with minimal injuries. That was completely unacceptable.

This year I think Taylor has improved significantly. We haven't played Taylor ball anywhere near as much and we don't seem to be going into our shell which is losing footy. We are now playing positive footy. If you listen to Taylor speak as well he has improved out of sight. We have a team now coming up with attacking plays. The coaching staff are basically looking for opportunities to score points.

I haven't really been worried about the defence because we are poor on the RHS and those players to me are all weapons. We have been deliberately exposing that side (and probably the other side) by playing compressed in the middle. It's basically a coaching decision designed to leave us with some deficiencies but I assume in the hope that with time we will be able to pull it together for important games.

My main criticism is the way Taylor has handled the Robbie situation. I think it simply comes down to money. In stating that this is not just on Taylor. I think it's the club as a whole. I don't like acting like that and I think it's wrong.

In stating that if we keep winning games and Robbie goes and all this drama goes away I'll be stoked.

So I'll give Taylor qualified credit for how we are going. He has done a good job in getting the team playing positive footy and getting our outside backs, halves and forwards smashing it against real good opposition.

Way too early … Let's give credit for a top 8 finish if and when achieved.

I agree its too early to say " As a Club" we are consistant and a success.

Top 8 isnt my benchmark.

I have for years said that my benchmark is to be Melbourne Storm Like. Turning Mediocre players into seasoned First graders that know their roles and execute gameplays consistently. There are no easy games against them ever.

I have always believed JT was our man because he based his teams around Defence. That's not sexy not is it fast to develop in a club let alone our beloved Tigers who are known for add lib footy.

Still a ways to go IMO, but we are building.

Our spine will be the envy of the NRL and with Woodsy leading from the front I hope there are a few good years to come.

Unheralded players such as Lovett, Aloiai

No Steve, you just didn't understand what jt was doing last year.

Winning us the spoon?

Well he failed.

That is all semantics. He took us to last place and he did that on the back of terrible game plans. We were the worst coached team in the comp last year.

And how has that had a negative affect on us this yr?

Well what a decade the Tigers and club have been a basket case ! We all know this we all have been ranting about this for years .
Enter Jason Taylor the new management and new owners of the club ,did we think that last year it was all going to turn around in half a season or more think not!
It is not only what Taylor has done to turn the toxic culture of our club around, but also seemingly a professional bunch of people finally running the club.
I do not think Taylor is the greatest coach around but I do give him credit for drawing a line and standing his ground for what he believed had to be done to change the culture. The disgusting verballing and horrid things that have been written say more about some of the supporters of our club than anything .
Will we make the finals I think we will fall short but I will certainly give Jason Taylor credit for finally making the Tigers competitive and strong well done!
