Time to make the magpie more visible.

Simple way to resolve the merch debate… HIRE BLOODY CRAEGUS!

He's created better designs than anyone from our Club. If you get some spare time in the off season Craegus.. Can you give us a couple of new ones?.

The strongest gene always carries on. So I guess the magpie and white are not that. Such a stupid topic. Can tell the season is over. The same ol boring repetitive crap comes back up.

Suuuurrrre.

It may seem minor, but why not just use our correct colours.

I mean, why not go from black & gold to black & red…..its no biggie.
Or black & white to red & white
Its just an entirely different clubs colours - thats all.

Funny how with such **minor oversight** all the time from the club, we NEVER seen an orange & white anything - do we??

And if we did see an orange and white something, you'd all be on here jumping up and down that the black was neglected.

To me black was magpies, orange tigers, white well any number of teams use white in fact I would say when talking merchandise all teams use white it's hardly a unique color to our brand.

I personally dislike white and try to avoid it when purchasing items especially polo shirts.

Sorry Yoss my wife has thrown away the news paper of the day that I thought I'd hold forever, stating the merger deal.

But this is all on Wiki

The club's name and logo are a combination of the two partners. The uniform colours are a combination of the black and white of the Western Suburbs Magpies uniform and the black and orange from the Balmain Tigers uniform. The logo combines a modern "in your face" Tiger with a traditional Wests 'V' in the background. There is also a Magpie (taken from the Western Suburbs Logo) on both sleeves of the Jersey.

Is that fine, or I need more information.

I'd like to read the official joint venture agreement & appreciate it if anyone could post it on the forum somewhere. On the NSW Cup decision, I remember reading an article by Brad Walter from the SMH in June that our five boards were to hear a proposal by Humpty & that it would be the first time all of them had come together since we formed. The director from wsdrlfc said it was only a information meeting & there wouldn't be a vote taking place, that Wests & Balmain football club members would make the final decision at a special meeting & then last week we find out that it wasn't decided that way. I'm glad we will have a WT NSW Cup team next year but i find it frustrating when you hear from people in our club that have spoken to the media about important issues & then to find out three months later, that it wasn't the case. I use to follow Balmain prior to the merger & I would have no problems with making the magpie bigger or restoring it back to the previous size.

It's no secret that I'm a former Balmain fan. Here's what I think:

1\. WT must respect the entities that were essential in it's creation;
2\. Leave the Magpie alone. It's been there since day dot as a merger. Keep it on each sleeve and don't move it or change it's size anymore;
3\. Find an artful way to put the old Western Suburbs and Balmain Tigers logos on the back of the jersey and include the abbreviated name of each club;
4\. Put white on the non critical merchandise. It may seem insignificant, but it does bother some of our core base. These are the people that buy memberships, go to games and buy merchandise;
5\. Let's learn to respect WT as much as we did our previous incarnations. As much as Wests and Balmain contributed to our past, they are not the future. It will never be completely harmonious, but I trust that WT will always do what is necessary to maintain the survival of the club and do it's best to respect both Wests and Balmain.

It's pie in the sky stuff, but I would like to see WT eventually gravitate to the point where this could actually be feasible.

I have no idea whether the opening bit is suppose to be sarcasm… I don't expect you to have 12 year old documents, however, if you're going to go around quoting agreements you should at least know what the agreement says. Rehashing a Wikipedia entry is not the same thing.

So can we establish by all this that you in fact have not read the JV agreement?

Very well said CB. It's all about making every former Balmain and Magpie supporter happy. That's why I can't believe some so called supporters protesting against something that does not affect them at all. They have all the questions but are never satisfied with a persons pursuit of what was their share of their team in the JV. Which means they have hidden agendas. This forum is for discussion, like it or hate it, if you cant state your true feelings, you have nothing at all. It's time WT fix things so fans are satisfied. If they worry about Harry, where was he before the merger, where will he be in the future, he can't control the place it's 50/50\. The sad thing is we will never be one until our club decides that we should be one, and only until then will we see a superpower.

IF, and that is a big IF, the Wests Group tried to flex its muscle under the guise of increased funding to the JV, does anyone seriously think the size of the magpie on the sleeve would be high on the agenda?

White was the minor colour for the Wests Magpies, with the jersey usually predominantly black. Likewise, black was the minor colour for the Balmain Tigers. So if we say the minor colour is worth 20%, and the major colour is worth 80%, the average of the Wests Tigers colour would be 10% White, 50% black and 40% orange. Not sure whether this would actually make a good jersey though…

I think they have more important things of concern at the moment. Like covering the extra financial burden of the joint venture. Should they be demanding more? Yes imo.

The main thing on their agenda should be securing the Liverpool/Mcarthur area

Exactly. Don't mean to be rude, but the size of the magpie and the number of posts in this thread does not really match. It is of such little importance in the grand scheme of the JV.

I think this thread proves its very easy to be critical of " trivial" matters when you have the lion share of logo, name and colors. I know we would see them same argument but with different sides if wests wore a black and white jersey with a small orange V, a magpie logo/mascot and a small tiger on the right arm. If ex-balmain folk can't see the importance of the pie to some people than this argument can never be settled.

Maybe because it's WESTS TIGERS. If it was Balmain Magpies you could have the biggest magpie of all time at the logo. Does it ever occur to you that Balmain had to give up a big part of their identity?

In any case most people really don't object to having a Magpie. It's the total lack of understanding that Balmain has disappeared coming the other way that a lot of people object to.
