And that’s what I’m saying. We haven’t had a Katoni to leave us. Grant was the closest and he is a Melbourne prodigy on loan.If we unearthed a Katoni he would already be at another club. Harry Grant the closest thing.

I strongly believe it’s a reflection on the young talent coming through. They just don’t have that X factor. For example Cini? Is that Madges fault he played probably the worst game I’ve ever seen for an NRL player after having a blinder in his debut; never to be seen again?
Maybe Talau would be the disappointment and hasn’t kicked on to his perceived potential? I’m struggling to think of another who isn’t just a depth singing at a strong club. (Injury aside)
Yea, you know what 100% agreed.
I can't judge Madge harshly with a Josh Reynolds that went buttersoft and the Mbye buy of the century... NOT!
You do have to ask why Josh Reynolds couldn't find his way back to first grade on a regular basis. yet it was clear that whatever SOO ability he had he lost. Likewise Packer just going limp biskit (IMHO this hurt us a lot more). Rather then dig all that up, yes you cannot blame Madge for it.
I also give coaches a fair signing fail chance.
For instance:
Wayne Bennett signed Josh Mansour.
Des Haslier with Canterbury, Michael Lichaa was probably his worst signing.
Cleary with, every signing above 400k he did for us! Looking back, bar resigning Farah all of them failed.
Bellamy probably has the best record of any coach, George Rose was probably questionable value, otherwise he usually makes great signing decisions.
year 3 Madge gets his pack. Of those he tried, he only got James Roberts and BJ Leulia. The only good part of signing Leulia really was his brother! Ok lesson learned.
Come year 4, the Hastings signing was far better then I expected. Yet it is clear were rudderless.
Defense still Buttersoft.
Attack "where is our plan!"
Grit, we give up after 50 minutes.
Year 4 is a repeat of Year 1. Fire Madge once you have a replacement locked down. Sheens can train newer coaches so a Ciraldo or Morris would work. I am far more experimental, Thurston (not happening) Cronk?, would go down well. Dean Pay would not be a bad assistant.
Group effort, gangbang if you will…If a player comes through pathways and turns out to be a gun, who gets the credit....his under 12's coach, jersey flegg coach or Madge for giving him a go in the nrl.
On the contrary if he bombs out is that the coaches fault or pathways.
An nrl coach is not there to teach him how to catch a ball or tackle properly.

Cheers for the responses. Was it his role to set up pathways? Do we know he didn’t want to change or have input into pathways but was hamstrung?I look at things differently.
Not 1 lower grade player has kicked on in 4yrs, you cannot say that about any club. Heck even the bulldogs have had a few come through that are decent. We have no junior mainstays in the team.
If a player comes in they often look lost, that’s indicative of our coaching structures.
People claim he is a big reason the club is looking forward but he didn’t setup the pathways and hasn’t developed any NRL talent as yet with us yet we want him to remain because of his passion yet think someone who has a track record with junior development would be a disaster here.
Just find it interesting some peoples arguments on the topic.
It was off nine sports when they interviewed Brimson after the game and he called his team WEAK....That wouldn't be the main stream media would it?
🤔
Fourth year? You mean 10th year? That is Titans, this is WTs. Our train wreck is in its fourth year.
And achieving those fantastic results 9th, 11th, 13, 15th .............Yes he should but be kept away from the NRL squad ....he would embarrass himself trying to mould a team like ours, whereas Madge just keeps on taking the lashes from the media and fans...
The issue you highlighted must be one of the drivers in terms of the appointment of the new coach. Our club will survive on the progression of its juniors. Ciraldo and Morris both have proven records when it comes to bringing through juniors.I look at things differently.

No no no no . . . don't be silly. So the dogs have just lost their 3rd game I think under potter with the same squad,so is it the coach or the players, to whom have some stars in there team that we don't. This same scenario will play out if the club chooses to go down that path and sack Madge, mark my words.

Both Ciraldo and Morris have had extensive recent experience with the progression of younger players through to the NRL from juniors. I see it as importing a discipline into the club and the "trickle down" impact it will have on our development system will be huge. The Panthers and Sharks are two good examples of how the Pathways can be successful. Imo WTs is in a position to really take control of its future by appointing one of these coaches.A better comparison would be Barrett who came from the same position - a club of great resources - to a club In a similar position to ours.
We all recognise pathways are successful to developing strength in a club. Having the talent to transition those players successfully goes hand in hand with that. Ciraldo Morris and Barrett had/have the benefit of being at clubs where the the depth of talent in FG squads supports the introduction of young players. There is no evidence to suggest without those resources that they would be any more successful than any other coach. Both Ciraldo and Morris have had extensive recent experience with the progression of younger players through to the NRL from juniors. Titans made the finals last year.
They may have made the top 8 but to me that's not the be all and end all, top 4 is or continuing the legacy they have built or purchased.Titans made the finals last year.

They are fast approaching a train wreck so I wouldn't call them that successful.
