He might add value to Balmain or Wests if he stays out of trouble. :unamused:

waste of $$$ getting utai. we really dont need him

x 2 tiges have plenty of depth in the outside backs already and maybe a couple of the young blokes would love the opportunity to step up

It's still not confirmed at this stage guys so I wouldn't fret about it just yet, and if Utai does end up at the Tigers, it would be on minimum wage given his length of time out of the game and previous form.

hope so willow … after looking at the teams gains and losses the tigers have really invested in youth and fijian 18 yr old who has played rugby for fiji as a winger already sounds like he may be one to watch

One assumes you mean "mightn't" rather than "might"

Yeah Senexx , that typo was a Freudian slip on my
Part….weeks away , as the club can't string it along much longer...very shattered for the great guy

FWIW, which is very little I know, a mate played golf with Benji recntly and on the topic, Rd 10 was the reply.

Ten weeks??hahahaahha…..Not as far as Cogs is concerned.
No chance ...Wont play this year so retirement will be the only option..Cogger

One of my golfing mates , very Close in The Parramatta camp , when I quizzed him yesterday morning said he spoke to TNT 2 weeks ago , and Taniela said that he is doing find and on track to play this season .
My mate said that TnT , who is sometime living with Fui now , will of course by slower, and has beefed up 2 or 3 kilos, but is stronger and will be use as a battering ram winger even more now….I aak, what fo you think as a interchange back rower , and he said , if only he could tackle, it would be good.

Fui gies off contract at the end of this season ...and if TNT comes back strongly , it would be great to have 2 such close friends playing together in the same team...Parramatta will be watching very closely how TnT goes this season

only 13 days ago u said the above. Now u say the announcment is close..

And last year ur so called MATE who is VERY CLOSE in the camp was saying Tui is going to parra. I would start looking for a new source mate.. cause the current one sucks arrse

Glad you find the topic amusing.

As were talking in the 3rd….Ink? Ink dont pretend to know one way or the other, its clear to see in his opinion no one really can give a clear estimate at this stage

Tuiaki future looks bleak
David Beniuk AAP Mon, 31 Jan 2011 19:54:32 - NRL.com

The NRL career of barnstorming Wests Tigers winger Taniela Tuiaki could be over in a matter of weeks after another round of specialist appointments provided little hope of a full recovery from his debilitating ankle injury.

Tuiaki, the club's leading try-scorer in 2009, failed to take the field for the Tigers last year.

He had hoped to make it back this season after extending his contract until the end of 2011.

"It's been an unfortunate injury for the big fella and I'd like to think he'll get back but reality says from the doctors that it might not happen," said Tigers coach Tim Sheens.

"Until that is a definite from the specialists we'll just have to sit and wait.

he's had a number of surgeries and so we have to weigh it all up, probably in the next couple of weeks.

"He's in a bit of strife and the specialists will determine what the next move is - cartilage transplants, rests, whatever, they've tried lots of things."

The devastating news for the 28-year-old could open the door for another Kiwi international, former Canterbury winger Matt Utai, to revive his NRL career.

Utai has been training with the Tigers and the decision on Tuiaki will have a major bearing on whether the ex-Bulldogs flyer picks up a contract.

"That probably is an insurance," Sheens said.

"Keeping as much depth as we can is important so if we do lose the big fella I'll want to have another option there."

Mitch Brown, Beau Ryan and Geoff Daniela would also vie for the right wing position, with Test star Lote Tuqiri having a mortgage on the left.

Meanwhile, Tigers England international Gareth Ellis is the latest star to be ruled out of next month's All Stars clash.

Ellis has an ongoing groin injury which the Tigers hope won't require surgery.

"We just want to be sure that doesn't become a nagging thing that plagues him through the year and leads to surgery," Sheens said.

"At the moment we don't think surgery."

On the positive side for the Tigers, talented utility Tim Moltzen has completed an entire pre-season after undergoing a knee reconstruction last year.

"He's got his strength back in his knee, got his speed back and he's looking really good," centre Chris Lawrence said.

The Tigers play trials against North Queensland Cowboys in Townsville on February 11, Parramatta at Campbelltown Stadium on February 19 and the Sydney Roosters at the Sydney Football Stadium on February 26.
