Perpetual contracts mean that the NRL will not support clubs financially anymore in Sydney unless they are willing to accept a relocation, but will prop up the likes of the Titans because they want a side in that region.
Equally they are the arbitrators over rules that can make or a break a club. It stinks.

It could be the wake up call for us to start making smart financial decisions and actually lay down a plan for the future of the club.

I live in Perth PP. The people here who go to the games here every year are already league fans. We are the fans any new team woukd need to engage. If it's any existing team other than your own team relocated here, your not going to get on board.

Im no chance of EVER getting behind Manky or Cronulla.

I just don't get relocation.
Would Cronulla run a Perth club from a meeting room at Cronulla Leagues? Would they pump money made from the leagues club in Cronulla to a perth team? Would local Shire businesses sponsor a team 8000kms away? Would Perth businesses sponsor a club owned by a Sydney company?

And would fans in Perth support the drug/ salary
cap cheats? A club so poorly run that the governing body is moving them interstate?
It won't work.

I agree. I don't get it either. How many local Wests Tigers fans will hang around to be Perth Tigers fans? Especially if you cant get to a game. What's the point?
I suppose what the NRL will be after is the marketability of a known logo and group of players to start off in the new marketplace.

I guess that means that the alcho has heard that the sharks are lining up for the firing squad.However for probably the first time in my life i believe he is making sense.Without the traditional support in Sydney there is no base for success in the long term every time you cull or merge a club you lose supporters PERMANENTLY relocation would be exactly the same.
Expansion is the only way to go to get a bigger base

If the NRL are serious about financing a new club in Perth or wherever, they don't have to move an existing club to do that. It would take money, but surely there are enough unemployed coaches, players, and juniors around who would be desperate to be part of a new team without forcing an existing side to relocate against their will, and losing thousands of loyal fans in the process. A simple relegation system is enough to cut back the number of current Sydney teams by natural attrition, and at least that way the failed teams have a fighting chance of getting back in.

Paul Kent basically through the WT's under the bus

He brought up Manly twice when speaking about relocation but because there is no team north of the harbour bar Newcastle they were safe

Then spoke about Cronulla who got mentioned twice and the 40 million deal came up

Parra and Dogs mentioned once

We got mentioned 5 TIMES , 5 FN TIMES

So explain this to me Mr Kent ( and I'd question whether you have been put up to this by the NRL ) is how your attack on our NRL viability helps our future sponsors , future recruitment and retention and future membership drives

Surely the broadcasters would be against us relocating… We’re one of the better rating teams, you’d think channel 9 and Foxtel wouldn’t want to put those ratings in jeopardy?

Every warning bell in me is saying this is about financial status (not viability)- apparently the NRL want clubs to sign agreement THEN they will release the financial bar level that clubs will have to pass to escape relocate / fold. YEAH RIGHT- who trusts this lot of b's.

a/ Release the proposed financial status first you lot.
b/ Will this only apply to Sydney based clubs? What if an outside Sydney team doesnt meet the level? eg Newcastle.
c/ Exactly what in the financial mix qualifies to count? eg Cronullas real estate windfall (trust?) $40m from which they will receive an annual payment apparently.
d/ It would seem things like football performance, crowds, member numbers, junior numbers and development dont count- what about a club that has minimal costs for junior teams and numbers because they dont have many (eg Roosters) versus clubs that have many and hence greater cost (eg WT)- what weighting is given to that. It has to be more than just raw numbers.
e/ What about home ground/s- with homeground stadiums for several clubs being closed for renovation in this period of assessment- what modelling will be done to take into account impacts on crowds, revenue generated and club profits hit by patrons not going to use their relevant club facility.
f/ What is proposed to happen to existing club boundaries, junior teams and development, club facilities (clubs, stadiums and training facilities eg COE) that would be left behind.

DONT TRUST THEM TO BE FAIR- we already know how that goes.
