Toddy hedging his bets

Manly are up for sale aren’t they

Maybe that will be one of the prerequisites of a change in ownership

Maybe all the fans of the other 15 clubs could chip in and buy Manly and then move them to Angola or some wonderful country like that

We could rename them the Manly Sea Slugs

Them and Cronulla should be the most worried. Small supporter bases that don't have room to grow due to geography. Poor facilities.

Add the Sharks too. Nobody will miss them.

If that was the criteria the Roosters would be first out.

In my admittedly biased mind there are 2 Sydney clubs who should be excempt from culling or relocation and that is WT and STI both made the ultimate sacrifice in merging iconic clubs. Both of these clubs have great marketing brands and a very solid and large supporter base.
Easts Manly and Cronulla have no area growth and in Easts and to a lesser extent Manly and Cronullas case a miniscule supporter base.
Unfortunately the decision will be made by the frauds that run the NRL who believe in favouritism and not logic are making the decision. No doubt the powerbrokers from a couple of clubs will have a large say in the matter.Regretably money talks so that will mean there is no chance that the most useless club in Sydney will stay(Roosters have little support small area and even fewer juniors).
I have no faith in Greenberg he is a man with zero principle morals or integrity

Criteria will be the buzz word when Todd and his cronies decide who is on the move if they go down that track.
Pure logic tells you the only teams in danger are the Sharks, Manly and the Chooks. That is based on the fact they have a very small market that is getting smaller, but that is where criteria comes into play.

Criteria is a great tool to force a team out that you don’t want, because you identify something a club doesn’t have or is weak at, and than make that a criteria.

I think they will go down the 18 team comp path and that will be a crazy call as it will have a massive inflationary effect on the player market and lower the overall standard

Could also argue it might be poison for the NRL to relocate a scandal-ridden club like the Sharks. The new location may not embrace them.

Corporate dollars will be a major factor in keeping Sydney clubs viable and safe from the cull. Will have nothing to do with locale, juniors or crowd numbers because we know the Roosters are not strong in any of those areas, and are in no danger.
Our new chair better get on the front foot or we will be a target.

Yep, Marina Go was apparently instrumental in securing substantial corporate sponsorship. We let a cog that could be crucial to our survival walk out the door.

Unfortunately our name makes us a target. The NRL wants the Wests Tigers to be in the West of the Country, and a shark logo would fit nicely on the Sunshine Coast. Hence the recent fines and punishments handed out. They are trying to make these two clubs both financially unsuccessful as well as on the field with their imposed constraints.

If the Tigers stay financial there is nothing the NRL can do …as I have already touched upon one home ground and a United support base will make it hard for the NRL to do anything ..but if the bad old days of the running of the club return I can definitely see the club folding down the track ...over to you BARRY! your predecessor set the bench mark for our club to be financial .

Well if you don't cheat you don't get fined. If a $300k fine is enough to send us broke then we would deserve to get the chop.

I meant of the teams being talked about. Easts won't go because they are Sydney's richest and successful club. You don't move a team that is financially successful.

IMO doesn't make sense to take a club out of Sydney and relocate them. You lose current supporters and don't really get the buy in of the new location.

Melbourne storm worked because they were a new club and they were successful early (sure they cheated).

If you are looking to do it because of the next TV deal then you are better off going to 18 teams that means extra games to Televise.

If a criteria is being involved in relocation discussions, then the first club that needs to be looked at has to be the Titans. I know they're trying to reduce the amount of clubs in Sydney, but the Titans would have to be looked at for relocation in Qld or folding to introduce another team. They have the lowest crowds in the competition and haven't experienced on-field success for quite some time. The Gold Coast has been a graveyard for footy teams, I have no idea why they decided on the coast for expansion in the first place.

If we're talking Sydney, you'd have to think that Manly and Cronulla would be below us on the pecking order.
