TODDY ON SHAKEY GROUND

If anyone read the SMH yesterday, the photo of Greenberg giving his boss the evil eye is revealing. If you didn't know there was an issue between them, the photo left no doubt.

Poor Todd. Must be hard being accountable.

The Telegraph to day reporting under the headline IS IT SIMPLY DETEST and a photo of PVL and TODDY which appears to show an uneasiness between the two.It also reporting that previously the clubs received 45% of the games revenue this time round they received 43% and the clubs want answers

The old "body language" angle again.

Let me take any given photo of you, choose the dodgiest one and run a story.

Also, who cares if they detest each other, that may be personal preference and irrespective of business performance.

Well the good news is, if that opinion is shared by the ARLC, then we'll see the back of Greenberg soon enough.

But my caution is, yeah the refs thing wasn't the best, but that's not the CEOs only KPI. There are easily a large number of major issues on the code annually and that's not just Greenberg, but 100% of his predecessors. It's inherent to sport in general.

So public opinions is just one consideration for the boardroom reality of whether or not Greenberg keeps his job.

It's no different to the criticism levelled at Pascoe.

Disagree.

Id be waiting at the lights with a dirty windscreen and he'd be over polishing Greg Inglis's or Sam Burgess's clean windscreen.

He'd be polishing something of theirs I'm sure.

Has been hopeless from day 1 and steadily getting worse by the day. He's an embarrassment to the code.
Get a decent League man in charge and go from there.

Would love to see Katie Page in charge, she would be great.

Have heard her name, what is she is charge of?
Tim Sheens would be ideal as CEO. Footy man, not afraid to float new innovative ideas etc.
The day Greenberg drags his slimy body out the door at NRL HQ will be a great day for our code. He's a germ.

Yes I agree he bares the brunt of systemic problems at governance level. But you’d have to admit he has shown extremely poor judgment on a number of occasions (Inglis, smith) and seems to love having big end of town connections. He is not transparent. Having said that, I know someone who works in league central and he says morale is high and he’s well liked

Not to mention his cover-up of Ben Barba giving his partner a busted lip 8 or so years ago. Very dodgy indeed.
And his involvement in the Ryan Tandy betting saga, where Todd was happy to give Tandy advances in his paycheck when he knew full-well that it was going towards paying gambling debts to bookies.
Shady fella.

The NRL has been a boys club for a long time. They only ever do anything after the horse has bolted or the media shame them into action. Toddy and his upper management team are on big dollars and under their control the Chooks that laid the golden egg has stopped laying.

The NRL should be riding a crest of a wave, rugby is dead, the swans are on the decline and the A league is having a few hiccups, but they are also looking shaky. Greenberg has shot himself in the foot time and time again, we need a big broom through HQ.

The commission was set up because when all the clubs had a vote they could not get anything done because the clubs were all pushing their own barrows. So they took power off the clubs and gave it to a few self interested people who are very happy to have puppet Greenberg running the show....let’s hope with the new chairman things change

Wow, that is selling her extremely short! Surely you can do better than that!

Career[edit]
Harvey Norman was founded in 1982 by Harvey and his partner, Ian Norman.[4] Page joined the first store in 1983 as an assistant[5] and in 1999 became CEO of the company.[4] Harvey is the executive chairman.[4][5]
Under Page's stewardship, Harvey Norman expanded into New Zealand in 1996, Singapore in 2000, Malaysia, Slovenia in 2003, and Ireland.[5] It entered online sales in 2001.[5] As of June 30, 2015, Harvey Norman operates 277 stores in eight countries, with revenues of $4.9 billion and net profit of $165 million.[4] Page's base salary was AUD$2.07 million in 2014.[6]
Other activities[edit]
Page is active as a backer of several professional sports. She co-owns, with Harvey, the Magic Millions Thoroughbred racehorse auction house,[1][4][5] along with four breeding studs and 1,000 racehorses.[1]
In 2004 Page was the first woman to be elected to the board of the National Rugby League (NRL).[1] She introduced the NRL's Women in League in 2005.[1] Harvey Norman sponsored the National Rugby League's State of Origin series from 1997 to 2012, and continues to sponsor the Women in League round and Indigenous All Stars match.[7]
Page is an active supporter of women in sports. For the 2013 Jeep Magic Millions 2YO Classic, she announced a special $500,000 prize to be divided among the first four horses passing the post that were owned or leased by women.[1][8] The special purse, called the Racing Women's Incentive Bonus, was offered again in 2014 and 2015.[9][10] Page also signed Zara Phillips as an ambassador for the Racing Women initiative.[11]
In March 2015 Page announced the company's sponsorship of the Auburn Giants, a mostly female, Muslim Australian Football League team.[7] In September 2015 she announced the company's sponsorship of the all-female racecar driving team of Simona de Silvestro and Renee Gracie in the 2015 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.[12]
Page owned a share in the Byron at Byron Resort and Spa in New South Wales.[13] In 2015 she was developing M3565 at Main Beach, Queensland, a luxury residential project with seven boutique apartments averaging AUD$17,000 per square meter.[14][15]

I wouldn't read anything into it. If Webster is making comment simply because a deal hasn't been done yet, then he's really just looking for comments to make.

Nobody knows exactly how V'landys is going to operate as ARLC Chair nor what targets he has set for the NRL CEO to keep his job. Nobody really knows what V'landys thinks about Greenberg either, and V'landys isn't dumb enough to make his private thoughts public.

Also, who cares? The NRL CEO operates at the behest and direction of the ARLC, so you can change the CEO all you like, but it's still the ARLC calling the shots. What difference does it make to the everyday Joe if it's Gallop or Greeberg or Dave Smith?

Last year Greenberg, through the refs boss, mandated that refs were to clean up the ruck. Penalties galore ensued. Media carried on like fools resulting in Greenburg criticising refs. He through them under the bus when they were just doing as instructed. One example off the top of my head where he stuffed up a directive he probably got from the commission.
Appreciate your point and largely agree but he does not appear to be an effective leader to me.

Doesn’t have a bone in his body lmao

Yeah, it’s called accountability? Toddy’s learnin’. At pre-school. Think your post is kind of naive and also not accurate.

- Sharks cap drama? Failure. (KPI)

- Refs and SO FAR, any and all rule changes - bar the addition itself, of a second referee? Failure. (Just generally not appreciated by the roost)

- Cameron Smith’ wife drama? Huge failure. Sets a precedent and did that all of his own accord.

- Incorrect/inconsistent calls that plainly and clearly impeded our chances of playing finals, what I believe was a major factor in our two previous 9th place finishes? Failure. (Simply because we have the biggest support base and to seemingly appease us)
He should lose his job.

But obviously I’m not out there calling for his head nor any of his successors

This is the game I LOVE. I also need to like the bloke that is ultimately, immediately responsible for it’s financial administration and quality of the end product. It’s been a long time coming and I think many people ‘in high circles’ could be facing their impending doom. Many examples!

“Phil Gould keen to become player manager in the next 2 years” without bias?? Yeh right... decisions still need to be made around the people involved with grassroots footy!

V’landys seems like he’s appealing to the working man and league’s true good guys ATM.

Much to the dismay of T. Greenberg

Reading one of the other threads apparently the game made a $30m profit from a year that turned over $500m in revenue. Assuming that's all revenue inclusive of broadcasting agreements, merchandising, ticketing and memberships, a 6% profit margin is abhorrent.

Actually if 6% is net profit, its a pretty good number. A better ROI than the banks.
