COWBOYS BEAT WESTS TIGERS 32-18 IN NYC

An understrength Wests Tigers turned in a gallant effort in losing 32-18 to Nth Qld Cowboys at Dairy Farmers Stadium tonight.
The sixth placed Wests Tigers went into the game without prop Matt Groat, five-eighth Curtis Sironen and utility Matt Evans. The team made the second placed Cowboys work hard for the two points in round 19 of the NYC competition.
The Cowboys opened the scoring in the 10th minute through a try to lock Tennyson Elliot. The try was converted by winger Kyle Feldt.
Six minutes later, Feldt crossed to make it 10-0 but failed to convert his own try.
Nth Queensland went to a 14-0 lead nine minutes later when interchange player Chris Grevsmuhl scored. Feldt made it two from three goals for a 16-0 lead after 26 minutes.
Wests Tigers second-rower Mason Taloula opened the visitors account with a try in 31st minute. Half-back Jacob Miller converted to leave Wests Tigers trailing 16-6 after 32 minutes.
The score remained that way until half-time. Wests Tigers second-rower Shaun Spence got through a mountain ofg work in the first half, making 21 tackles.

2nd Half
Wests Tigers started the second half off on the right note when replacement five-eighth Liam Ayoub scored. Miller converted the try for a 16-12 scoreline.
The Cowboys went to a 20-12 lead three minutes later when Feldt scored his second try.
Wests Tigers refused to lay down and got back to 20-18 when winger David Nofoaluma scored in the 54th minute. The try was converted by Miller.
Cowboys centre John Koko have his side some breathing space with a try in the 65th minute. Feldt converted for a 26-18 scoreline.
Nth Qld secured victory when winger Zachary Santo scored in the 76th minute for a 30-18 lead. Feldt made it 4/6 when he converted the try for a 32-18 lead after 77 minutes.
Spence finished the game with 29 tackles while prop Neil Begovich made 12 runs.
Wests Tigers will now play Sydney Roosters at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday, July 23, at 5.15pm.
