My mate who knows someone connected at Dogs says the deal is done for a mid year swap and will be announced today
It seems a strange move from the club but if we move walters on I guess we have room

Frustrating when you see other clubs snaring talent of the caliber of Nicho Hynes. We’re making some good youth signings, but just can’t seem to sign a solid established player.

I don’t know, why couldn’t we have made a play for Hynes.. Did we? I don’t know, but if we’d tried you could still bet we’d be edged out by another club anyway.

Also I think Nicho Hynes is anything BUT established. Good footballer but has only played 22 FG games his entire career, is 24 years old, only started a match 10 times and 6 of those starts are only because Paps is injured.

By contrast blokes like Tom Mikaele, Luke Garner, Liddle have played 50 FG matches.

By established I mean competently playing NRL in a reputable team. And by solid I actually mean in career best (or close to) form, and displaying attributes and skills that almost independently lift their team i.e. a potential/recognised superstar, or at least a universally recognised very high quality player.

And most certainly not another player who's best form is behind them. Having said that Tamou was filling a gap and I actually didn't mind the signing at the time, although it hasn't quite worked out so far.

Happy with the way the team is developing, and most of the recruitment so far but there are still some missing pieces that we haven't yet been able to obtain.

It's all a question of price. If he possesses the ability to capitalise on half chances, can diffuse bombs and works with his inside centre, then he's doing his job. 350 - 400k seems a standard rate for a first-choice winger, with rep or reward bumps pushing that figure north.

To me? 350k a year, provided he does the above, is good value and he would be a set and forget acquisition.
