Transfer Market: Tigers’ shock bid to snare DWZ

I have never seen the love for DWZ ...

He's the sort of reclamation project that often works out if he goes to a club that has good systems and he's just asked to do a more simple job than what he's being asked at present. Which ... half profiles here. As long as he is playing to his strengths he'll be an astute acquisition. If he's being expected to do the heavy lifting in terms of breaking the game apart for us he might as well stay at the Dogs.

Tigers and Bulldogs eye huge DWZ- Bj Leilua swap

Tears of joy

I don't believe they'd be that stupid. Why would they let go of an overpaid player to get one in return? It does little for their cap relief.

Dogs would let BJ go and create room for next year. Tigers would absorb and frontload DWZ
It’s smart business for Dogs.

Reckon it’s gonna happen?

I don’t see it happening at all tbh. Not about sense more how it looks. Dogs are a different beast as a club.

DWZ five years ago - yes. Now? No.

I wouldn’t play him in front of anyone in our 17.

Everyone cried when we let Josh A go and got Joe O as his replacement and look how that turned out - Excellent

I think losing Josh A was bad but not on the dollars he was being offered. I'd still take Josh A over Joe O for the same dollars. Joe O has been pretty good though.

That’s ludicrous . One is wearing maroon and playing on Wednesday , the other won’t sniff the bench for NZ, even if he didn’t start a dumpster fire on his way out of here . Each to their own I guess

Hate to say it but Aloiai was killing it before he got injured. Madge might not pick him out of
Pure spite though ?

He is a good player. If you look at the stats one of the top middle forwards in relation to average run metres per game.

https://www.nrl.com/stats/players/?competition=111&season=2021&stat=1000037

What injury he pick up. He is injury prone

Think it was his wrist

did he do that pushing a lawnmower?

With the exception of Mal,almost all huge centres wind their way into the back row sooner or later.Lose their speed and lateral mobility..just like BJ,who is finished as a outside back.Had a good run though...
Problem now is his work rate(and maybe attitude)is inadequate for NRL back row,and doubt he'll get another gig..its ESL or nothing from here
Just hope his brother remains objective and understanding...our backrow (incl Lucy)is shaping up pretty well atm with Garner and Blore having real impact

Mal lined up in the second row for Australia.

Early on his career though, on the 82 roo tour wasn't it? He did well to stay in the centres after that.

I agree, I'm sure he'd have a new lease at Storm or Roosters.

DWZ is a solid player that’s under the radar at a bad team played out of position. Form is down like others that were struggling. Joffa, Luciano were similar.

Right price he would be ideal and wouldn’t be surprised if he earns a starting role based on talent. It’s a smart signing however, won’t make a huge difference tbh.Price is right then do it if not move on.

We are a winger short. Whether it’s isaako or DWZ we need one. DWZ on the wing would be a gun who would start our sets on the front foot every time.

I’m starting to come around

So long as we don't pay too much I think it could come off. It's another gamble like JTJ and BJ have been. One of them will come off at some point.

I don’t think it’s a gamble at all. The other two had and probably still have major issues going on. He doesn’t and only knows how to play one way. He is a winger who runs 100 miles an hour.

Rubbish with the BJ swap...

He isn't even contracted to us next year, DWZ has 2 years to run at the Dogs...How could that even work?

DWZ is a recipe for disaster, Mbye disaster to be precise.

We should be watching the top teams for players they are letting go of to clear cap space (resulting from other players needing salary increases) rather than clean out left overs from the side coming last.

DWZ and Mbye are on the approx same $$ over the same term...which is way too much for both of them buts thats the status quo for both clubs unfortunately. All thought they were buying quality fullbacks...
theyre both at best modest NRL players on current form, and next year Hasting one way or another displaces Mbye at 6 leaving him as 14th man whereas DWZ wld definitely get a start at WTs on the wing(or centres)....and who knows, may have upside working under Madge and regain his glory days
Dogs have Naden, but still need a centre(and probably half)
So Im for a straight swap which shld work for everyone concerned!!

Tell me again,

Why are we the suckers helping the other clubs with their bad contracts.

Let the dogs suffer

Agree that he was out best middle last year but if our current crop continues like they are think we’ve surpassed him (fingers crossed)

A straight swap doesn’t improve our position unless Dal can perform better than Mbye has for us.

Where does everyone get the idea that BJ is off contract at the end of the year. This was from Wests Tigers in 2020 when he signed.

"Wests Tigers are delighted to confirm the acquisition of Samoan international Joseph Leilua, who has ***agreed to terms for the coming three seasons.***

The three-year deal will see the talented outside back join Wests Tigers effective immediately from the ***start of the 2020 season through to at least the end of the 2022 season."***

I have read reports on here that there was a club option for 2022 but the initial release does not state that.
