The fact that the club decided to take on a tough trials schedule is, for me, a good thing.

Our roster is work in progress and far from the stage where we can seriously challenge quality sides.
Having few players sitting on the sidelines until mid season does not help.

I will be looking at improvements for this season as a whole but seriously people ….. trials form will not be my gauge on that front.

…… what I saw tonight was a “Reasonable“ first half separated by solid game by DCE and spark of what you’d expect from Turbo. Do we yet have 1 player of that calibre in our top 29 squad? No.

Our right wing and at the back defensive issues remain.
I saw nothing special in two fullbacks on display.

Will Brooks Hastings partnership provide improvement we need? Nobody knows but give it a chance before placing crap on our no.7.

The real question for me is whether our forward pack …. which has a reputation of being dominated ….. finally evolve into effective unit. On tonight’s effort I’d say Ukraine has more chance of repelling a Russian invasion.…… And my friends that is where our problem lies …. our forwards look like Tarzan but play like Jane.

Anyway thats My penny worth.

There where over 60 players listed for the trial and i am sure the final figure of people who played would be closer to 70.Yet some people on here are already giving their whipping boys all the grief for the performance.Next week i am sure you will around 50.this is what trials are for.
I have never worried about trial form and i am not about to start now.
If after 6 weeks into the season we are looking like a dogs breakfast with no structure then i will react

Trials are ridiculous if you are using them as a measuring stick. During the minute silence they showed the players on the sideline, and there was an entire team of reserves. Most of us have been watching this game for over 20 years. Some a lot lot longer. Yet, every year trials are given more stock than they deserve.

I agree for most teams trials are pretty meaningless. But when you get lapped 38-0 by the spooners and you have 6 months to stew on that and work on that you better come out and show something has come of that work. We’re just bad.

Looking on the positive side, I thought there were a few younger guys that showed they could have the right stuff with further work. Taipari, Rua, Tuki, in particular stood out as potential nrl players.

I don’t think you can read much into it. They might have looked ok, but could you say they really looked like first graders?

Wests tigers must realise soon that ok doesn’t get you wins. Surely. We’ve been ok for long enough now. When is the centre of ok due for completion?

No, not yet, but those guys in particular had something in their games that made me think that with some more work, coaching and more experience they could be good nrl players.

Brooks cross field kicks were on point, we just need some decent players to go up and get them. Some of maddens kicks were comical.

Haven't watched the game, but that doesn't surprise as Brooks consistently nails that play.

Trouble is, why on earth are WT still coached in prioritising that particular kick, when what we need is more repeat sets to tire the opposition or just more kicks along the ground and they should be practising such in trials..

It’s an indication of the weakness of our squad. We have no game breakers like a Turbo or a Teddy in the backs and no wrecking ball second rowers who create tries with brilliance. So it’s 6 up for a Hail Mary

And our squad as a whole are atrocious at handling high kicks, we would get dominated in the air 19 times out of 20. It's a brain-dead tactic, trying to score through one of the weakest aspects of your game.

We majorly lack class, size and speed in attack and our defence is paper thin.

I watched the first 20 mins before I had to head out and we didn’t look too bad with the personnel we had missing. I’m guessing we were a train wreck after that though lol

I only saw the second half and neither side impressed me at all. I saw a lot of unknown young guys on both sides run around with no timing, no cohesion, no understanding of the play or each other. Exactly what I would expect from a trial.

If you take trial form to mean anything, we will be fighting for the spoon with the Roosters.

i'm more upset at what Austin Dias didnt do,after seeing what he did of the bench for tigers state cup team last year i just thought he might have went another level tonight but he was dominated
and who was that fullback that took over from dillon he must of dropped ever bomb tonight

I think it was Ogden, not a Fullbacks boot lace.
