Rubbish… If Potter doesn't have a 17 pencilled [regardless of injury], he should be sacked!

And vice versa , if he has a team set in stone without giving players the chance to see what they can show he is a fool

Who in their right mind could see the massive improvements in players like Simona , Nofoaluma ,Sue ,Seumanufangai in 2013

If someone had told me our two of our best backs would Simona and Nofoaluma I would have committed them to Wolston Park (Qld version of the nuthouse for you Mexicans)

but that will happen AFTER round 1\. Do you remember our trial against the eels? 40-4 was the score i think and Braith scored 2 tries. Hardly indicative of anything really. Even the roosters trial didnt really show us what lay in store, we lost by like 2 or 3 tries i think. Compared to what happened when we played them in regular season that was a great game.

No, i think basing it off training, 9s (maybe) and last season is good enough for round 1\. After round 2 or 3 he can start making a few changes if needed.

hahaha… Wolston Park is full. Where else do you think all the Ipswich folk have moved to?!

Sure as hell didn't move to Cooparoo , even Ipswichonians have standards

Wolston Park is a Brisbane suburb , not Ipswich

We have a nuthouse in Ipswich ,runs along a golf course (Sandy Gallop) , and there were times I could of jumped the fence the way I played

But seriously Watto , do you want our team picked on past glories or on current form

We have picked teams in the last few years on past glories and look where it has got us ??

We aren't in the position where we can afford to drop a few games while we search for the right combinations

Saints and Titans are winnable games even though they are away games Dropping games through lack of preparation are not acceptable and Potter doesn't have that luxury

We need our best side Rd 1 and get off to a good start

But how do we determine our best side?

For example, let's say we play the eels in alice springs and taupau runs 80m makes 20 tackles in 60 minutes and ava makes 60m 20 tackles in 60 minutes.

who do you pick?

personally i think the taupau has more to offer at the moment, but potter would have to make a decision based on training and 9s. I can't see him picking one or the other just cause one did slightly better in a meaningless trial.

The problem is this is all fantasy… Every Coach in the NRL is gona play his best 17 available on paper. His best 17 is built from a few factors, and it would appear form isn't too high on the list these days. Some times the coach wants guys he knows can achieve a certain role, regardless if they haven't set the world on fire.

Its basically something you cant control, as commercial interests are also gona play a major part of the teams interest. If I owned the Wests Tigers, I would have the final say on team selections, but I don't.

The thing I find some tend to forget, the Coach knows what he is gona get from Anasta, where as Austin is a wildcard. Austin may create more, yet may stuff up more and he isn't prepared to take the risk while club stakeholders are sitting in the corporate box sipping Moet!

I think he'd be a bit more open minded given weve a fair few new recruits

Potter doesn't have that option , he needs to take a few calculated risks or he might be on the NRL scrapheap

If Potter starts the season 1-6 , do you think he will have a job by Round 10 ??

I'd say we might have Payten as an interim coach if that happens

Don't get me wrong ,I'm a Potter fan , but I think the club is still at the crossroads with him

And rightly so …......... Potter may have an idea who his best team would be ......... but I dont believe anything would be set in stone at this point in time. Round 1 is still a long way away in the scheme of things ...... lot can change between now and the.

Wests Tigers Camden Trial Launch
Craig Heydon

Wednesday 15 January 2014 7:20 PM

Wests Tigers today launched the Club’s opening 2014 Trial Match, to be played against the Penrith Panthers in Camden on Saturday, 8 February.

The match will see the two NRL Clubs go head-to-head under lights at Kirkham Oval in Camden.

Also in action on the day will be NYC and NSW Cup sides.

TIckets are priced at $15 for adults, $7 for children and $40 for a family of four, with tickets available from next Tuesday through Ticketek, Camden local businesses and Gearzone Macarthur Square and Concord.

Wests Tigers CEO Grant Mayer said that the games in Camden reinforced the Club’s continued support of South-West Sydney.

“The Club is looking forward to taking a full day of quality matches to Camden, allowing our passionate fans in South-West Sydney to get close to the action and get their first taste of rugby league for 2014,” said Mayer. “We’ve been working closely with the local community to ensure that the day benefits all parties involved.

“South-West Sydney remains an important region for Wests Tigers, evident by the thousands of hours the Club spends in the area each year,” he said. “We look forward to a year of strong support from our fans in the region, with the trial matches in Camden to be followed by four quality games at Campbelltown Sports Stadium during 2014.”

There is a video up on the official Wests Tigers website in relation to the above article and Mayer stated that the Wests Tigers will play their strongest side in the Camden trial with fringe FG players/State Cup players making the trip to Alice Springs. Tedesco and Farah were two names mentioned who will play the Camden trial.

Also stated Potter would be there….
The NT trial will be much like the Bathurst (?) trial last year or the year before... Ressies and a few 20's players!!
If Potter will be at Camden, I suggest most of his top 25 will be as well!!
