Will hold judgement until I see him in another game or two. He played decently, but sometimes debutants can catch teams off guard due to a lack of footage. Once the analysts expose the flaws in his game it will be interesting to see how he reacts.

Champion @Bigscreentv - I just had to print this out, it's so good!

The Dragons club, and the broader Macleay valley community are very proud to see ex kempsey Dragons junior, and proud Dunghutti man Triston Reilly make his NRL debut this weekend playing for the Wests tigers. He is proof that with hard work and dedication your dreams can become reality.
For those that don’t know here is a bit of background of his footy achievements to date.
Triston Played junior footy for kempsey Dragons until completing his under 14s season. In the under 10s Triston was the KJRL junior player of the year, and Group 2 jrl player of the year. In his under 14s season he was named Kempsey jnr player of the year, and Group 2 player of the year . The side he was in Won the premiership for 4 consecutive seasons for Dragons.
He played his junior representative footy for group 2 jrl for a few seasons until he moved away.
Triston Moved to North Queensland at age 15 where he attended Kirwan state high school. He was selected for the Queensland under 15s schoolboys side and the Queensland under 15 Indigenous team.
The following year he moved to Newcastle where he played five eighth for knights Harold Matthews side, and attended Hunter sports High. Triston played for the nsw indigenous team this same year, playing against David Fifita.
The next year Triston took up an opportunity to do his final years of schooling at st Joseph’s hunters hill .
Where he played Five eighth for South Sydney Rabbitohs SG Ball side at age 17 and 18.
In yr 11 and 12 he was selected in nsw CIS school boys rugby league side.
After completing his schooling he represented Australia in rugby 7s and played Australian jnr wallabies. He played club Rugby for the NSW Waratahs.
Triston made his way back to Rugby League in 2023 signing with the Wests Tigers. Where has been Biding his time in nsw cup for the magpies, he has scored 14 tries and 6 try assists in 19 games.
Triston comes from a fanatical Rugby League family. His father and uncle’s all playing for both kempsey jrl and senior footy for the Macleay valley mustangs.
All 4 of Tristons grandparents June And Alec Reilly, Bob And Ethel smith were heavily involved in Rugby League, all serving time on the kempsey jrl committee and Group 2 jrl. June and Alec we’re stalwarts of the Dragons for close to 30 years, where they worked tirelessly to keep Rugby League alive in our community. Bob and Ethel were also on board for many years, holding various positions throughout their tenure.
We know his family are so proud of his achievements, as is everyone at the Dragons club. He sure is a very humble young man, we wish Triston all the best in his debut game… Go the tigers

I hope we give Reilly the final 2 games of the season and keep him on next season - he's contracted anyway & it would be a minimum level contract.

We have to remember he's only been with us since midway through last season with another pre-season in the gym helping immensely.

It's too early to write him off as players develop as different rates.

At this stage he is ahead of Feledy. Feledy would be found at in defence atm (if anything a cameo off the bench to give him a taste).

Did his job, you can talk about the 'bombed' tries, but I certainly preferred him holding possession as opposed to pushing passes and just killing a set.
Really can't fault him at all, looked bigger than when he played in the preseason too. Keen to give him more time an opportunity.

decent debut. come a long way since joining last year and you can see what they saw in him back then. for now, I think he could become really solid depth.

being able to debut late this year with preseason around the corner is a win for both WT and Reilly as the next stage of his development is to become a first grader. surprised me defensively, hits the ad line at speed and went close a couple of times. I've got no doubt those two opportunities aren't bombed if he's playing on the left side. for him to move to the right and play his first game of NRL was impressive.

I'd say its likely he plays off the bench next week pending Star's availability.

Reilly having another strong game for the Tahs. Good to see, still think he could of offered something to us
Thinking is where you've gone wrong here. If you don't think, you don't come up with this thought. Forgive me.

He's playing for his state in union. He wasn't in the picture for NSW origin. he still offers us something now in the form of entertainment in another code. Win/win for all.
