Tuimoala Lolohea Signs with WT

I've watched his highlights and any guy who can show those skills has got something. Consistency is obviously the question and for that I hope Ivan can bring it out of him. The numbers being bandied around are $300K ish - so if that's the price, well I'm all for it!! What I saw from Moses last week.. I'd hate to be watching anymore of that rubbish.

An extract from a [www.news.com.au](http://www.news.com.au) piece today:

THE Wests Tigers are chasing the signature of Warriors utility Tuimoala Lolohea as their long-term replacement for departing star James Tedesco.

Fox Sports reports the Tigers are in talks to sign the 22-year-old on a two-and-a-half-year deal to bring him to the club immediately.

Signing Lolohea would then allow the club to release departing five-eighth Mitchell Moses, who has asked for an immediate release to join Parramatta.

The report states Ivan Cleary is interested in signing Lolohea as a playmaker for the rest of the 2017 season, before moving him to the No. 1 jumper to replace Tedesco next year.

— with AAP

NZ Herald has him making $300k for next season. Would think he'd get similar money offered by us.

Id offer a bit more to secure his signature
especially if other clubs are interested

I'm not sold on him, but admittedly a lot of that is based on the fact it sucks we need to replace Tedesco.. Can't do that any way you look at it.

The games I've seen him play he does seem to be quite good and looks to possess some natural flair and ability, but I question why he's been dropped to reserve grade. Some have mentioned he's inconsistent which worries me - not an admirable trait, and not one our club needs right now.

Yes and No

I think Cleary is a good coach who can iron out the inconsistencies

I'd hate to be the Melbourne Storm. Losing Cronk after this year, Slater only has a few left in him and Smith will call it a day, one day too. But you know what? I still think that they will come up with a competitive team.

Lolo best footy is at fullback. He won't be Tedesco but he doesn't have to be. I believe that deal will be done. If tigers also get Hopoate and Milne then the back line will be set.

So would look like this possibly
1\. Lolohea
2\. Nofo
3\. Suli
4\. Milne
5\. Hopoate
6.Reynolds
7\. Brooks

I dont understand why so many would be against Tui in the FB role…

I wouldnt let him control a game at 6 as he would be Moses Mk2, but having his ball touches metered by Brooks, I dont know how to put it into words

Teddy is irreplacable. Teddy is also consistant. But Lolohea can rip apart the game like Benji and Shaun Johnston on his day, the likes Teddy can only dream of. Tedescos strengths are a powerful scramble post contact and speed, they are very different players, but if you pass on Tui as a fullback you obviosly havent seen him if full flight. Teddys defence stats arent the best, so its a moot point arguing on that front.

If he cannot focus there is always the wing, but it honestly a waste of the kids talent.

I hope we build a squad where we dont rely so heavily on our fullback anyway.

When you say "rip apart the game" teddy has been doing that for the past 2 years by himself and from what ive seen from tui he hasnt ripped apart any games in his career so far, he does his job but i havent seen anything from him to suggest otherwise. In saying that id love to have him at the tigers, just dont expect too much. Tedesco is lolohea x5

Are we after both Kahu and hopp?

I think the WTs are playing moneyball. Plenty of offers out there at the moment. All depends on price and attitude. In Ivan we trust. He has a large bit of the cap to fill.

What about Idris. I think he could offer the club a lot. I want to get Hopoate as well but wouldn't Hopo be above this guy at fullback.

Where did this Kahu rumour come from? I've seen articles over the past month saying Kahu was staying put at the Broncs.

Tedesco is also Lolohea's salary x5, though.

Idris too slow at centre and too green for second row

I reckon Idris can put a hit on and dent the line. He is slow but if he gets it together he is a weapon.

His d was great apart from getting burnt with speed, his hits were up with the best of them but I'd doubt the club would take up a second row or centre spot with idris.

Idris to prop? Big unit. Doesn't really need speed. Would get his hands on the ball a lot more than now. Pie in the sky from me really
