Tuimoala Lolohea Signs with WT

Just reading Warriors fans take.

They don't rate him.

Just like many Tigers fans don't rate Tedesco either these days.

Fans turn on their own pretty quickly when they move to a new club.

It amuses me when us fans always do not rate a player when they are leaving

While that does happen a lot the Warriors fans have been sour on him for a little while. They haven't been outraged that he's been stuck in reserve grade or demanding his recall. That being said I don't think it's a matter of them not rating him so much as just thinking he's never going to work at the Warriors, which is probably right. He's a risk for us as there's no guarantee he'll work here either, but we're lacking pace and x factor in our back line next year, of which he has both, so I guess they're prepared to take the risk (and also piss off Moses ahead of schedule at the same time).

Its a problem when your stuck with the utikity tag. He needs to stay in one position.

Yeah, too good not to put in the 17 but not the best in any given position so they play crappy minutes wherever needed and fail to develop. That is more Watson's problem at the moment than Tui's though, Tui is getting a regular 80 minutes…on the wing in reggies.

Don't shoot the messenger but the Tui thread is from early last year. Well before we were on the radar.

Weak positionally and under the high ball.
Ineffective tackler.
Overweight and lost his zip.
Steps straight into contact and falls down immediately.

The only thing that gives me solace is that Moses is definitively no better.

Of course, change often cultivates improvement so here's hoping.

It reminds me of a half we picked up from the Panthers who spent a few games in the NRL but mostly in reserves being shifted between lock, half and centre. He came on impressively with regular NRL games and stability in one position.

Not attacking you, just the fickleness of armchair expert fans.

As long as his attitude is good under Cleary, the rest will be sorted Iout Hel be fine. We need an attacking weapon to compliment our halvesm

Blake Austin?

I actually think Teddy has lost a bit of pace. Run down a few times last year unexpectedly.

Tedesco is very very fast and agile off the mark and over 50 but as we saw in SOO and games this year he can be run down over 100.

Agreed. Has shades of Austin and maybe even Taupau. Will be interesting to see how he goes for Tonga.

Lolohea will benefit from stability in one position. Anyone who has played union or league will know how hard it is to be moved around from week to week.

He had a couple of seasons where he was considered an attacking weapon for the Warriors, but because he wasn't a specialist and had the talent to cover many positions, he was sacrificed as a utility - essentially a victim of his own ability. That's really when he started to go downhill and probably lost a bit of motivation - he has actually come out and said he wants to play Fullback or 5/8\. He is clearly unhappy and that is probably contributing to the poor form.

I think in every team you need 1 or 2 players who you take a punt on and Lolohea is probably one of those players (depending on the contract size of course). It's supposedly a 2 year deal, so if it doesn't work out, then not a huge loss for us. If it does, then we'll get back more than what we paid.

In the end, I don't think it matters much who we have at No.1 unless we have a forward pack that can stay in the contest.

Ivan needs to get moving on signing more forwards to get us up the field….

I'm 50/50, havent commented on the Lolohea situation yet…. But if the bloke is such a great player you'd think he'd be at the very least playing fullback or 5/8 at reserve grade. He's playing wing....

I have a lot of faith in Cleary so if we do sign him I think Cleary would know how to bring the best out of him.

I'm praying we can bring the best out of him, I wouldn't pay more than 500 k, anything more is overs imo.

Where he fits in and how he will go are unknowns, but he is better than a reserve grade winger.

Yes and I see a lot of similarities with Lolohea.

I dont understand why so many would be against Tui in the FB role…

I wouldnt let him control a game at 6 as he would be Moses Mk2, but having his ball touches metered by Brooks, I dont know how to put it into words

Teddy is irreplacable. Teddy is also consistant. But Lolohea can rip apart the game like Benji and Shaun Johnston on his day, the likes Teddy can only dream of. Tedescos strengths are a powerful scramble post contact and speed, they are very different players, but if you pass on Tui as a fullback you obviosly havent seen him if full flight. Teddys defence stats arent the best, so its a moot point arguing on that front.

If he cannot focus there is always the wing, but it honestly a waste of the kids talent.

I hope we build a squad where we dont rely so heavily on our fullback anyway.

When you say "rip apart the game" teddy has been doing that for the past 2 years by himself and from what ive seen from tui he hasnt ripped apart any games in his career so far, he does his job but i havent seen anything from him to suggest otherwise. In saying that id love to have him at the tigers, just dont expect too much. Tedesco is lolohea x5

at 5 x the $
Besides that he doesn't want to play with us so we have to find an alternative

he might be killing them , but "them' is in reserve grade.
Hes had stints in first grade and that didnt work out too well,
if Cleary thinks he ok, Im willing to go with that , just not sure why we want to pay overs for him

He will be great in attack and if he can bring this then we would suit perfectly.
Tui is a right side player so will slot in this season for Moses if needed.
The best is yet to come and a change of screnario would improve him I believe.

He's on 250k with the Warriors now. 300k next season i think. Anyone that think we'll be doubling his current salary based on nothing is kidding themselves.
