Tuimoala Lolohea Signs with WT

Tui said himself recently he needs to get out of his comfort zone.

If he's serious about his football career and becoming the best he can, then he just might need to peel himself away from friends, family and the Happy Meals and enter a whole new environment.

His biggest asset is his footwork, he needs to run with the ball as much as possible - for this reason he needs to be playing fullback. He needs to trail the forwards looking for offloads and receiving the ball from shifts out on the edges in space. He should be bobbing up over all parts of the field with a license to roam.

Tui reminds me of Ben Barba - similar attributes. Barba was played in the halves when he first entered the NRL and was a bit of a dud. Shifted to fullback he won the Dally M and nearly won a premiership with the Bulldogs, and last year was key member of the Sharks first title.

If Tui's coached to play fullback, and the team structures are built around that, then he just might become a serious x-factor attacking weapon.

Well said. I agree with all that. Does anyone know where we're up to with his signing? Any chance he might come over straight away and allow us to release the malcontent, Moses?

Well if Tui comes to Wests tigers he will have the best coach in Ivan Clearly who was a very good fullback and brilliant goal kicker.

The upside is, he sounds like he's a second half player. We need one of those.

i like that assessment

After watching the first half i was hoping we dont sign this bloke but he turned it up 2nd half

Rubbish goal kicker IMO, Ranko kicks better

I love how people hear about a player, watch one game, then make their long-term mind up. Played badly for 40 mins, don't bother with him?

Taking certain games out of context, you'd do away with 99% of footballers.

Darren Lockyer's Test debut vs NZ springs to mind, would go close to one of the worst performances ever in an Aussie jersey, he was abysmal. Went on to have an OK career after that!

I was a bit disappointed with his performance last night as well but won't be put off by one game. If we where to judge a player after one game, I wouldn't go anywhere near Milford either but we know he is a lot better than what he did last night against the poms

I am not sold on Lolohea. Would like to know what we are paying him. Should consider Nicoll-Klokstad if available on similar money, and Stargroth Amean as a cheap depth signing.

My opinion is based on years and years of watching Rugby League from junior level through to 1st Grade and that is Lolohea is a Dud ..that 1 game was just confirmation..

If he is signed he'll have my full support though and I'll be cheering him on to prove me wrong ..just as other dud's have in a long line of dud's…

I'd sign him just for his name. Extraordinary.

Mitchell Moses looked like a world beater in his junior days and very early into first grade.

I'm not a real fan of Hoppa but I think that I would prefer to pay a bit more and get Hoppa over Lolohea.

Maybe I'm overly optimistic, but I'm excited at the prospect of having this guy on board.

Nothing wrong with optimism, coz there's been enough pessimism in Tiger world over the last 6 months.

And the way I look at it, if Ivan thinks he's worth it, I think he's worth it.

Not calling you out specifically, just a number of peeps that didn't know much of Tui Lolo until watching this game.

The following is an example of how young players can mature and thrive with the right motivation;

Maturing Milne thriving at Dragons
Jack Brady Tue 02 Aug, 2016, 7:00am
By Jack Brady, National Correspondent‌‌, ‌‌‌NRL.com

Heading out for a night on the town was a regular thing for the now 21-year-old – even if it meant having to play less than 24 hours later. The two-time Junior Kiwis representative confessed to NRL.com that he was in a bad place last year. Milne thought promotion to first grade would just happen for him at his former Roosters club.

"It was a big change to leave the Roosters and one that I think I really needed. I wasn't as professional as I am now I suppose. I just thought it was going to happen, by just cruising through the motions," Milne said. "I found out pretty fast that you have to work hard to make the grade. There were a couple of times I was late to training and stuff like that while at the Roosters. Even through the 20s, I was going out on the night before games."

The clean slate afforded to Milne by Dragons coach Paul McGregor hasn't gone astray either."If I didn't go through what I did at the Roosters I probably wouldn't be the person I am today," Milne said."My nutrition and all that sort of stuff now has really helped me this year. I was a bit overweight when I arrived here so when Mary (McGregor) told me to stay off the drink, I stayed off the drink.

Milne's three games so far has seen him average 107 metres, two tackle breaks and a whopping four offloads per game. His offloading prowess in particular is somewhat of an objective handed down from McGregor himself.

I'm going on seeing him in first grade games, plays ok , not great , and in some games is invisible.

Hoppa can't be Fullback unless he is playing every game. If he is playing every game then he will be unhappy, don't put Hoppa in Fullback!

Why?

Canterbury have not succeeded this season, they have struggled with a part time fullback. You need people to get used to their positions and play as a strong spine.

Hoppa has a lot of versatility. He would still be around 200K probably 250 or more, but we should use him as a utility or reserve. NOT FULLBACK, probably not full time center or wing. Just have him jump in when someone is injured or as an off the bench player. Sign him if the money is right, but if he ain't playing Sundays he isn't on the full time team. Also I totally respect him not playing on Sundays.

You would be way off Chief thinking 200-250k for a SOO player. Would be double that.
