Tukimihia Simpkins #248

Lets be honest fellas,we all were young and did some dumb things just like Tuki has...however he has to realize that he is in the greatest rugby league arena in the world, and with that comes major responsibilities, big salaries and most of all he is a hero to the kids that look up to him that are little champion WTs supporters..This could be the best kick in the arse he gets that makes him a much better person and man...stupid thing to do,but he only has hurt himself by it and put the younger guys at risk...
hopefully he learns from it big time...

Every time I have been to Maccas in the last 10 years I have left being sorry that I made such a poor choice - I am sure Tuki knows how that feels now as well!

With all the professional mentoring, awareness of responsibilities that must be drummed into them, they continue to do stupid things like drive without a license, just thankful that a small child was not on the footpath or around the fence line. Them Tuki would be looking at real consequences and major regrets

We know the tigers can’t play footy (we haven’t made the finals for 10 years) &
now we know that they can’t drive either 😂
Don’t the tigers do driving history checks on their players ?
They should set up a drivers ed class at the centre of excellence 🤣
When starting a new job some employers will ask you for your driving history & criminal record checks
First musgrove then tuki who’s next ?
The new season is around the corner let’s hope this is the last drama
Btw didn’t another tigers player also cop a driving charge ?

I deleted my last post because it's better to forgive than to have *“Cast The First Stone”* 🤣
He's still a very naughty boy!

I'm amazed at some people who just think this is young mischievous kids having fun.

It's stupid, it's no joke, this 'skylarking' or 'boys will be boys' BS kills hundreds every year!!

I will never understand why some think this is just normal behaviour, because it isn't.

It is for some kids.... Has been going on for years and will.continue to.
Many that are attracted to RL do stupid things when they're young... Most grow out of it

Agreed, but point being we should just stop accepting it, laugh about it and do nothing. These types of incidents need to be rammed so far up old mates clacker that he never ever forgets it.

Of course... There must be consequences

You don’t learn otherwise. It actually makes you believe you are bulletproof.

isn't that the point of an NRL forward.

Steve Roach had great insight into this on an episode of the Matty Johns podcast a year or so ago. basically said they were coached to be dominant and bulletproof, when he left league it got him into trouble and he lost his job on 9 because of it.

Still there has to be a consequence from us or the NRL will do it. A fine and a game or so is probably what should happen

Did you do anything silly at his age?

These young fellas have shown a distinct lack of loyalty, should have been on the way to KFC.

Think we should be courting Uber for a sponsorship too...

there has to be KFC ad in this.... Im thinking something about home delivery

Maybe young men take a long time to mature and conseqently do stupid things.

A very long time ago when I was 16 years old three of my mates and I drove from Sydney to Melbourne in the one day. We slept ovenight at Melbourne in the one car. Only one of us had a driving licence and he had drank a couple beers overnight.

The next morning we all decided to drive back to Sydney, I was sitting in the back of the vehicle and on reaching Cooma i noticed his head (the driver) suddenly drop towards the steering wheel. The vehicle continued to over an embankment. Two of the four were driven to hospital suffering from concussion and cuts to the head. We were very fortunate to all survive without serious injury.

Would be the safest bet all round.

We have all done stupid stuff. I reckon I had worked out what was stupid and what wasn’t by the time I was 25.

Dime a dozen traffic offence despite the best efforts of some media bozos to make it seem otherwise. Silly thing to do but not a hanging offence.

It was stupid, but he wasn't drink driving, and he didn't injure anyone, just hit a fence. Sounds like he was the designated driver, being responsible and had a minor accident. Silly to just drive off though, presumably it was a strong enough collision to note what happened. But he showed enough responsibility to man up, and bring himself in to explain what happened.

Did he not have a license or not have a valid NSW license? Most kids in regional areas get their license quite early, so they can get around. What are the chances he had a Qld license on him and didn't realise he needed to transfer it to NSW? This is the kind of support the club should be providing to all players moving from other states/countries.

He'll get a fine, some sort of driving related punishment (how do you suspend someone from driving if they don't have a license to suspend??)

Club needs to provide him with education and make it clear to all young players the kind of behaviour that's expected. He won't get suspended by us based on the details that are currently publicly available.
