Maybe. But IMO this rubbish nowadays where blokes are pigeonholed as "middles" or "edge" forwards is just new-age tripe. If you're a forward you rip in like a psychopath, that is your main job. Tackle hard and run hard. "Edge" forwards get a free pass when it comes to doing the real tough stuff nowadays, watch Matterson play and the only bloke outside of him in attack is the winger.
We need to build our pack around feared hardheads who crush blokes, if they have an offload in them then that is an added bonus.

Kikau was an U20's front rower and now is an edge forward so it is more the skill set of a player as to what position or positions they can play on the field.

Well the last time I looked on the Tigers site, Tuki is a second Rower.

I maybe wrong but I thought 99% of second rowers were edge forwards.

If he is in the 1% - I think he can make the switch.

Put 13 blokes with desire on the pitch and success will follow.

? Absolutely spot on.
Hate Bellamy with a passion but he does have the right idea when it comes to this fact.
Our club seems to be massively lacking in this area.

We’re just doing the best we can with the leftovers. Until we’re winners that’s our plot unfortunately.

Interesting discussion with Brandy about fairness on NRL 360 tonight. Never been clearer to me that rugby league is dog eat dog. How long before there’s no more dogs?

Haven't seen the Brandy segment yet, just watching the replay now. But it is set in concrete that the NRL is far from fair.....notwithstanding that some clubs are inevitably stronger than others. It is not a level playing field in many, many aspects. That's what stinks. This Suaalli rubbish is Exhibit A.

IMO, its all a cycle, we had our chance in 05, but failed to capitalise, I thought?

Many teams have had their time in the sun (Dragons of yesteryear) etc.

Penrith & Raiders are on the rise, with East & Storm ATM, but things will change and they will all eventually fall back, we, like everyone else will rise (not sure when:blush: ) and fall, I don't believe anyone can sustain top level status for ever. Players/coaches come and go.

Maybe he can play on an edge but I think his best position looks like lock forward and we don't have a good lock forward. Twal and our other middle forwards should be under pressure.

I hate this pigeon holing of players to middle or edge. If you have mobility and you’re a footballer then you should do either. Tuki looked pretty mobile in the two games I watched.

You might hate it, but that's what happens in the NRL.

I will happily admit I'm wrong if he is named in the 11 or 12 for WT First Grade this year, which I'm sure won't happen, so let's wait and see.

yea its a strange one - Cowboys went to great lengths to sign him and heralded him as the next big thing and then swapped without a whimper for a reggies winger.

That was because we'd signed him for 2022, so they needed a backup winger and agreed to the Bradley swap

Simpkins played for the Wests Magpies on the weekend. He had an outstanding game...

Stats....
Played 73 minutes...
ran for 133 metres...
post contact metres 63...
tackles 49...no misses...

source nine nsm....

Madge and Hartigan may have found a "a little lump of coal that can turn into a diamond"....

He's got a lot of potential but he's barely turned 19 and you're going overboard after one NSW cup game. It's all about putting in effort after effort, week after week that makes you into a first grader.

There's a reason why Tuki and Simpkin aren't even on the extended bench. I may not like it but they shouldn't feel entitled to play first grade, they would be prepared to work their ass off and demand selection

Based on your comments, how does Garner continue to be selected? It certainly doesn't feel like he works his ass off

This all sounds great.

However, what happened when Sheens started picking what he thought was the best 13 when that included playing multiple players out of position?

I recall him being chastised for picking wide players in the middle (Danny Galea, Branson Harrison etc.)

When he’s carving up first grade, then we can call him a beast. Till then, the jury is out.

But but but
MCK was called The Beast by some on here

We've got Tuki until the end of 2023 right? He's only 19 and not played much league. He's looked good and if he continues that good form he will get his shot, but no need to rush him in. We've got plenty of time

It is all being taken out of context ....he is talking about how Mansour got shoved out the door ...yet Burton has been kept ......

Burton needs to talk to Mitch Moses ..he has a few moves that get you out of a contract and at a new club asap

I would say the reason Uncle Moses doesn’t have a job anymore , is because of everything you just said . He has been the driving force behind all these dodgy deals in the last 5-10 years , and his deregistration would have been an attempt at letting the Orr Brothers , Moses’ agency , Tyran Smith , that they won’t cop that stuff anymore . Doesn’t mean it will work , but I don’t think those tactics are as good an idea anymore . I know the Josh ALOIAI stuff would be an example that it does , but I’d argue , it didn’t really , as we knew that Josh is not the player he thinks he is , and we weren’t giving him 650k, unlike Dessy Statsler , who loves himself some meaningless stats.
