I guess he is slightly better utility value than Mbye and cheaper

I’m not mad about it, but it doesn’t make me super excited

It's not really cheaper, we are paying $400 for Mbye to be at dragons already. We end up spending more money on average utilities this way, plus Hastings was meant to be the Mbye replacement

$400k a year is overs for Peachey. He's literally just as good as Mbye and will probably take a bench spot over one of our young players.

So we're paying $400k for Mbye to play at Dragons and $400k to sign peachey.... we should've just kept Mbye.

Fair point mate. It’s just that after next year we don’t pay a cent for Mbye but we’re rumoured to still only be paying $400k for Peachey for the year after for arguably a better player . Why is that not better then Mbye?

This is on Roar, not sure how legit this is, as it's not the WT site?

Tyrone Peachey is on the move to Wests Tigers next season.

After three seasons with the Gold Coast Titans, Peachey is poised to return to Sydney after agreeing to terms on a two-year-deal with the Tigers.

The Roar understands the deal is worth around $800,000 with an official announcement imminent.

One of the most versatile players in the game, Peachey has been identified by the Tigers as a ball playing lock.

I knew they were taking the mickey with this article when they mentioned ball playing lock. Peachey doesn't have a passing game.

Haven’t seen him play 6?

Don't worry Peachey will be on 750K a year in no time..

Once we are on one of our many losing streaks next year, don't be surprised if the DT/Fox release an article stating he is on $850K/year.

Peachey at 14 blocks the pathways of Jake Simpkin, why would we want a 30 year old doing that

He'll probably play centre or 13 for us if we sign him. Would be extremely short sighted to have him taking up a spot of a younger player, he's not the difference between us missing and making finals

There's a reason no other clubs have wanted him really either. Had a very average season for titans

I have no problem with it as its only for 2 years and not massive money. He can cover a lot of positions and considering we have AD out early next year and maybe Brooks going its a no brainer for me consider who is out there on the market. Look how lost out team went with all the injuries and replying on these young guys.

Is he going to improve the team in any realistic way? Not really. Just another washed up utility we’ll all want retired mid way through the season.

Will remain bottom 4 regardless if he signs or not. Very meh signing. And if those figures are correct, paying overs too.

So much for the master plan of holding our cash for the right target. You seriously can’t believe a word anyone at the club says.

Club has stated its looking for players with 50+ first grade games experience to help our young squad. They have also said they are looking for players who can create chances. They have also said we need a ball playing lock. Peachey actually ticks these boxes pretty well. We can’t attract the elite atm so Peachey for 350-400 a season is not bad. Overs yes. But not crazy money. Also, my understanding is more often than not the figure posted on the media is higher than the reality so he may be signing for 300-350

800k a season? Please tell me it's not true

It’s not true.

I don’t care if there are not many veteran players of any quality available right now.
Signing this bloke reeks of our commitment to being an inconsistent team.
While I acknowledge he can come up with the odd explosive play, I cannot see how he improves the squad.
No doubt this would be characterised as ‘depth’ and ‘experience’.

Not particularly well no.

I have a feeling, would obviously need confirmation but going off the timing of the official announcements of Tulagi being promoted and extended, Mbye being released early, Seyfarth being extended for another 2 years and finally Mikalee going around another year that they would of arranged to cover all those new deals under the remainder of this years cap. Which means although we would be paying $400k for Mbye next year to play at St George we probably are paying $100k less for Tulagi and Mikalee and $100k less for Seyfarth in each of 22/23. That’s just my hunch.

If we have signed Peachey for $400k a season that will do me. He has showed nothing for a few years now .

Sure sign him on $250-300k but geez $400k is a fair whack. So much for not paying overs

The reality is though if we don’t sign some new players with experience we’re simply giving what we already have a big pay rise. Some one said it a day or so back, we have to sign some players and there’s not many available and even fewer who want to come here.To me this is about as good a signing as we can get. Experienced and versatile and can still make things happen in a game.

The position of only wanting to sign Munsters, Trobojevic’ and the like is not gonna happen. Baby steps is our only way currently with the stench of this place.

This isn’t a baby step if its 400k for a player who can’t cement a position and has been ordinary for a few years. He would have zero sway in the player market.
He just replaces Mbye/Walters. I have no issue with Peachey coming and he would be a step up on who he replaces, its the 400k if true I have an issue with.

The player has no other offers, surely nit 400k per season.

Another Pascoe Fiasco

Another ageing Panther from Pascoe’s era with them.

I can understand the strategy but there have been a number of players that have come to market who would have been far better for our team in that regard. I’m also not sure Peachey is considered much of a leader.

Don’t mind this. We need experienced players with our young squad and Peachey gives us a genuine 13 option rather than running another big middle forward. And people say the Tigers don't attract any star recruits. That's NRL's Sixth Best player in the NRL, Tyrone Peachey!

We’ve mentioned players all year but we missed out on all of them or didn’t make a play. That’s why we’re left with the dregs. Again.
