OFFICIAL UFC & MMA Discussion

I am no great UFC fan have have only seen a few fights, but would the Rousey fight been allowed to continue if it was 2 men in the ring? She copped a pounding, but have seen one sided fights last a lot longer than that.
Her movie career was based on her success and the publicity she generated at the time. I dont think she has one anymore.

It was stopped at the right time, she copped a flogging right from the get-go and if it was left to continue it would have gotten so much bad press it would have damaged the UFC brand. That's all the big-wigs are interested in, making the brand seem reputable so the big bucks keep rolling in. If Ronda had been left to continue and suffered a serious or tragic injury it may well have spelt the end of women fighters in the UFC I'd say. She was never gonna recover in that fight to stand a chance of winning so the ref did the right thing.

Sage & Paige are coming off losses.
I like Michelle Waterman - Dana should promote her. She's cute.

Knew Ronda would lose. Not a fan of Nunes but Ronda is a pea hearted stooge.
Garbrandt did not disappoint, absolute entertainment machine.

They may be coming off losses but they are young, fit, blue eyed, blonde haired, good looking, all American types. Just like Ronda. Mark my words, they will attempt to make them bigger than Rousey.

She was never really a great fighter, her weapons were a strong hip toss followed by an arm bar. Not a mixed martial artist like most in the UFC are. Her looks and attitude got her where she is just as much as her results. The UFC and ESPN created her image and i still laugh at Joe Rogan describing her as "not just a once in a generation fighter…but a once in forever fighter". LOL. They even claimed she could beat half the men on their books and backed her claim she could take out Mayweather after the Pacman had recently failed. All this hype helped her become the cross over star she is.

The UFC is all about PPV subscribers these days more than finding out who the best MMA fighters on the planet are. White even said as much when quizzed as to why the champion wasnt even mentioned in the 207 promos. "No one knows who Amanda Nunes is"...At first i thought it was disrespectful to elavate Rousey to challenger when she hadnt fought in 13 months whilst those in the division were busting their guts for a shot and improving every day. Now i think it was negligent and they used that woman for their own selfish ends. She was totally outclassed, totally out managed and totally humiliated. I hope she retires...not just for her own sake but for the sport. Her biased promotion over others made the sport lose respect with true fight fans.

She got hit twice and you could see the shock and fear in her eyes , she wanted out then and there

She needed to find a jab , some boxing skills in the 12 odd months away , and from what you saw she hadn't found anything

Can't wait to see the footage of Cruz losing the belt. Just heard his post-fight interview, was funny listening to him babble on about generally nothing. Congratulations to Garbrandt, hope he gives him a rematch and towels him up again.

I love listening to Cruz talk he has one of the highest fight IQs.

Lol have you's heard the audio of Edmond "Mitts" Tarverdyan in Rondas corner during the fight? here it is http://alaysia4.tumblr.com/post/155198486534/thechlostertalkssports-dirtyboxing-enjoy-the
Joke of a coach. Love how Nunes went upto him and shushed him.

Yeah I dunno about that. He dribbles s%&t as good as anyone. Plenty of "excuses" were put out there yesterday, his knee injuries were brought up by himself a few times….if you are gonna be a smart mouth smart arse like he is then leave excuses at the door. Team "Alpha Fail" as he likes to call them beat him down, i bet Uriah had a few beers last night to celebrate.

Gotta agree mate.

I think in the early stages when UFC purchased Strikeforce - the plan was to make Gina Carano the face of Women's MMA. However she ducked out and started doing movies and didn't fight again. There was talks of her fighting Ronda for a while but nothing eventuated and Ronda became the big shot she once was.

In both the Holly & Amanda fight she has been exposed - they control the reach and absolute line her up - her stuff is ineffective.

I also think that Ronda has had size on most of her opponents except Holly and Nunez are quite tall and lankey and just have her covered all over.

She's a terrible loser anyways and not a true champion. Absolute disgrace.
I wish she'd fight Miesha again and Miesha would come out of retirement and absolutely destroy her, finally get a win over the warpig.

You're right about the size advantage Demps, Nunes is built like a tank- massive shoulders on her. She will hold the belt for a lengthy time I reckon, she just powers through her opponents. Honestly wouldn't surprise if she tested positive to HGH or something, her physique is bloody impressive.

All the Brazilian fighters like their steroids - wouldn't be surprised.
I'm not a fan of Nunes however in the post fight press conference she spoke very well. She seems a bit starry eyed by it all, which is nice to see. She was very thankful to the US for giving her a shot as she stated in Brazil she was nobody and couldn't even get sponsorship.

She's growing on me but yeah, the women's divisions are pretty weak.

The Joanna VS Karolina fight a while back was real good though, I'd like to see them rematch and Waterson fight the winner - cos she's amazing, woman crush every day.

The Karate Hottie hey?! Goes good.

Yeah, really impressed.
Watched all her old fight footage too from INVICTA where she was the champ.
She's the real deal and one to keep an eye on - she'll be the champ.

Gorgeous as too.

So big Tyron is expecting a huge 2017.
First he has tried to setup.a superfight at 180 with Bisping, now he wants to give Connor a shot at his welterweight belt in Dublin…He is chasing the moneyfights hard.

Tyrone is the man - don't know how long he'll even hold his belt - let alone Connor or Bisping's, lol.
Wonderboy almost touched him up to a loss.

BJ Penn returns this Sunday for those that care.

Sad to see a legend like Bj go out like he has his past 4 or 5 fights. The bloke was a 2 division champ and is a hall of famer. That battering he took from Rodriguez was brutal….55 significant strikes to 4 in just over 1 round.

Fighters these days are developing at an astonishing rate. You cant take a couple of years off and expect to compete.

He sure did cop a whipping. IMO he was always clearly overmatched in this fight, the bean counters running the UFC would've known that but knew BJ headlining a fight night would get a few more bums on seats so went ahead with it.
Good stoppage by the ref, if it was left to carry on it could've gotten nasty.

Yeah, BJ is a legend no doubt.
Shouldn't have bothered about coming back, humiliated.
:frowning:

They did the same with Ronda. Its negligence for mine. One of these fighters will be killed doing this.
