OFFICIAL UFC & MMA Discussion

Look at all the good fights on that card. Gomi vs Miller looks like it might be the undercard.

I'm really looking forward to Diaz vs McGregor 2 though. Will McGregor learn from that ? Can he compete against top lightweights even though the fight is at welterweight.

Miesha is a stunner.

Stacked card tho, hopefullly more to be announced.

diaz>
tate>

oooh diego sanchez!
sage northcutt!

card looking exciting.

its a good punters card….

Have a soft spot for Gomi, same with all the pride fighters, but Miller is durable and the fireball kid has zero gas tank. Miller by sub. Lock of the card.

Tate is to Rousey what Fitch was to GSP... she should handle Nunes nicely. Tate was the first to train with men, fights like a man would. Way too composed for Nunes.

Conor has nothing for Nate, he really doesnt.

J Lau and Diego for the bloodletting... Lauzon should have the tools here, but wouldnt bet on it

Look forward to seeing the Moose go around. He is a killer who is just way to blase for his own good sometimes.

I'd love to see Edgar finish Aldo, he deserves the title fight and could probably take the belt (FW) from Connor McNugget.

Diaz over Connor all day in the rematch, he is looking to make that big pay day and won't dissapoint, just like the first fight. #TEAMDIAZ since day one so I'm sticking by the homie Nate.

Nunez aint nothing, Holly is cut because Meisha was offered her and Nunez and chose Nunez. As anyone would, easy win for gorgeous Tate - I hope.

Rest of the card is quite exciting fights, keen as.
Seriously cannot wait.

Wow that is one serious line up…...when is dos Anjos back ? Man i wish he fought Mcgregor in UFC 196.

Looking forward to Dilashaw's next fight.

I reckon McGregor can win this. I think he lost partially because he came out too arrogant. Nate might smash him again though.

Hopefully this time we get a quality fight.

defo not.
Connor was exposed.

He has a weak ground game and poor cardio.
His boxing was nothing special against Nate - who's boxing is elite, compared to others in the UFC.
He ate all Connor's punches and he didn't really get rocked despite taking damage.

He will punish Connie in the rematch, don't forget - that was Nate without a camp / wasn't even in training…. He was sipping cocktails in cabo with his heavenly blessed beauty girlfriend.

Nate will be even more prepared for the rematch and put Connie to sleep again.

How can you possibly say his boxing was nothing against NAte, he absolutely busted him up in round 1, anyone else wouldn't have come back round 2!
R2 Conor got rocked and did the one thing ppl normally do against him and he panick wrestled against a slick high level black belt BJJ practitioner and that's where he lost it..

On the feet had it all over Nate until he gassed

Conor did not have it all over Nate on the feet, quite the contrary. All Conor did was load up on his left, yeah, he landed a few, but every left Conor threw Nate had a jab or two right back at him, which contributed heavily to Conor gassing. If you re-watch the fight closely, Nate actually won the stand up in the first round rather convincingly.

And as for the damage argument, have you ever seen a diaz fight? Both brothers have tons of scare tissue that opens up very easily, and they are well known to have iron chins.

I see Conor lasting longer in the rematch, but a similar result will be the outcome. Conor is fighting Nate for the wrong reasons, Nate is a larger fighter who has a big reach advantage, and Conor is above his weight class. I doubt Conor will go to his wrestling again, so Nate by tko in the 3rd.

I have watched the fight I think about 5 times and r1 was a very convincing first round win to Conor on the feet. Diaz did not counter shit until r2.. Diaz took some big lefts and some big body shots, Conor gassed simply because he was going for the highlight reel r1 knockout against a guy that ha never been knocked out! That was stupid..

Secondly, I know all about diaz' scar tissue I never said anything about his face bleeding heaps, but Conor an easy r1..

In the second fight I see Diaz winning again but with it going longer, Conor not as well rounded, but if he can restructure his training to improve cardio at tht weight he will definitely have the better of Nate again on the feet, in saying that, the longer the fight goes the better for Diaz..

Conor didnt land very cleanly at all to be fair…. it looked like he was, but Nate rolled his shoulder and slipped the vast majority. That said I would have still given the round to Conor (well would have bet on the judges incorrectly giving it to him), but even before the fight Nate called the slow start due to no camp.

Nate will do it even easier next time. Bank on it.

Mate those body shots landed on Diaz, and Conor tagged his face over and over again..
Cmon!

watch the round again with the sound off…. Rogan is a dribbler for the most part and sways alot of punters.

Alot of what you consider tags on Diaz are actually slipped, and when looking for honest flush contact, Conor only really gets him 5 times in the round, and not once until about the 2:30 mark with an uppercut.

Its difficult to understand the nuances, but Diaz trains with Andre Ward, and does slip punches very well. Watch how Diaz lifts his left shoulder to interfere with the punch, and is moving his head away so they are glancing at best. By the scoring rules, Conors head being straight up actually allows Nate to score well. Conor threw a tonne, and with bad intentions, but the majority missed entirely.

Opening Diaz up does at first give the impression he was being lit up. Look closer.

I appreciate what you're saying (respectfully I do understand the nuances well after all these years)….
You are correct that Diaz slips really well and rolls that lead shoulder, and Conor does miss a lot especially with his kicks, but I feel he still clearly won tht first round pretty easily, he landed shots, he pushed forward and he controlled the octagon a lot better..
His head movement was disgusting though I agree with tht

Most memorable punch I've seen in UFC was Rashad Evans dropping Chuck Liddell-that punch was sweet as a nut. Holm's headkick on Rousey would be up there as far as kicks go, or Anderson Silva's front head kick on I can't remember who was a gem as well.

Gonzagas head kick on Cro cop!
also, rich franklin knocking out liddell with a broken arm?!!!

Well looks like its off. UFC 200 Diaz vs McGregor 2 will no longer be happening… :astonished:

Was gonna rush down to the TAB before it started and put some cash on Barao and Almeida to win their respective fights. Bloody glad I didn't - both got belted. Cody Garbrant looks and acts like a tool but geez he went through Almeida like a week-old taco, absolutely demolished him.
Who is the belt holder in that division Demps: is it Conor? Garbrant looked mighty impressive today and will give the title a shake by the looks of it.
