Unite. Commit. Achieve. Who?

Last year we were about to get to the hotel at Origin time and I was wearing a Balmain jumper circa 1998/99 and this old bloke had a shot at me for wearing something pre-merger, he did have a Wests Tigers cap on but should have noticed that I was also holding onto a Wests Tigers hoodie top.
We should be proud of where our current club came from and not condemn those who either can't afford to update or choose to hold onto their memories of our Foundation club.

At the GC game Sironen made a point of congratulating a fan for wearing a Balmain jersey. Thoughts?

What do you mean made a point to who?
What he went to a fan in the crowd after the game and shook a bloke's hand who had a Balmain Jersey?
What is the big deal about it.
Look we are not going to stop those people from wearing there Balmain Jersey or Wests Magpies jersey, some will agree with people wearing there original colours and some won't.

Sirro is just being polite.

Except Macca is saying Siro made a point of congratulating the guy. What is there to congratulate? idk if this is true or not, it probably isn't, but it wouldn't surprise me if players carried allegiances to one side. I remember Gibbs going on a rant about the Balmain side after he left

But out of all people Curtis has a Genuine reason there is close ties with the Balmain past players and there Families , i mean his Father was a Balmain Legend and played the most games for the Club with 246 games .
If Skando was still playing and he congratulated some Magpie fan , who gives a rats .
Are some of you seriously worried if this supposedly happened?

I really think MacDougall needs to clear this up

He is saying sirro went to a bloke in the crowd and said… "Good on you for supporting Balmain//wearing the jumper"...or words to that effect.

We arent Balmain.... I call bulldust on this.....but if he did....and look at the thread title...im sure the board and Mayer wouldnt be happy...and our players should be focussing on the now for the footy, and the future for the club...not the past

Balmain are dead

MacDougalll......explain yourself

If it's no bigge, why do the fanatics cop it for turning up in their magpie jerseys. And it's cos of the orange free zone, cos they'd still get told to move without that

I can't imagine a large amount of thought was put into it, they probably had a short meeting and went with whatever the best idea was.

I disagree,

I think that there would have outsourced it to a marketing group that were Jeans and trendy shoes who would of used tones of butchers paper to brainstorm

"There are no Wrong answers here Guys"

Voted on a short list and the finally submitted the slogan.

How do I know.....

Really…good Lord..I think it calls for A Royal Commission...

Hurry up Sunday please.....

EDIT..SPARTAN !!7..I think your Interwebby is Broke

You don't have to be a dinosaur like me to have an affinity with one of our JV clubs (yet still able to give your all to WT). Of course our juniors have some form of allegiance to their breeding ground, what is the problem.

Some prefer playing at Campbelltown because they have Wests roots and it was (I assume) where they played grand finals or representative games, just as Leichhardt was and thus holds special value to Balmain juniors.

Do people still think that players carry allegiances to any side these days - look whats happened in the last few weeks. The modern game for players is all about money ,success and for some playing with their mates - hence all the fans that are sensitive about one side being favoured more than the other, just really doesnt resonate with the players. Wasnt there so wont speculate, but pretty sure its not that unusual to see a fan in an old Balmain jersey they are at every game and he would have seen plenty before, and so are the Wests and the Wests Tigers every week that's how we roll - united in our slightly dysfunctional way. Please we dont want to start analysing who the players are more friendly with and why, do we?

Ink thank you for clearing something up cause what Macdougall did was not explain the full event that took place.
Mayer needs to sit down with Sirro and be explained that it's not a good image in the public eye and what we are trying to achieve as a Club.

But the item can be purchased in OUR official merchandise store. Balmain and Wests jerseys.
What's Siro done wrong?

I know this is probably trivial, but in days where "branding" and being "on message" seems important in the corporate world, who exactly is the current Tigers message of "Unite. Commit. Achieve" aimed at?

It would make perfect sense if it was the playing group; some call-to-arms for them to be better than the past. But, why would any organisation promote the fact that, in the past, we didn't unite and we didn't commit and we didn't achieve?

It can't be aimed at the supporter group because IF we "united" and we "committed", how would we (the supporters's group) achieve?

I just checked on the team announcement for Rd 3 and noticed it there on each player's profile.

Huh?

I don't get it.

To me it seems like a three-word slogan (and haven't we all had enough of them taking the place of leadership and policy?) that must have made some sense at the time.

But, that's amateur hour stuff.

Surely, there's a better vision for building membership numbers than some simplistic slogan that surely won't work because nobody knows who's supposed to be responding to it?

3rd rate Marketing department. Still stuck in Bogan-land. Someone needs to call them up and tell them to give it a rest. The videos, graphics and audio on WT website are rubbish as well.

You're right, it is trivial.

Still think it would be good to hear the questions at the press conference.

You get tired of guessing!!!

Maybe they could save up and buy an extra microphone.
