Yeah really is a grenade, saying that everyone did each other favours and to unite and be one :unamused:.

You don't think saying Wests should feel grateful isn't going to get reactions? :crazy
There shouldn't be any reactions cause I didn't say anything other than to unite, cause both sides have helped each other out.
Wests would of not excisted had Balmain not gone in a Merge with them (fact), Balmain made the cut in the Competition but there is no doubt Balmain would of also been extinct by now as they are broke.
So your not grateful that Balmain chose Wests to merge? You rather have no existence than to have something ? same goes for Balmain?

@GNR4LIFE said:I think examples are there for both sides not still being around if it weren't for the other at one point in time.
@laufoofan said:If the team is not united, nothing could be achieved. The players have to be committed in what they do and be focus. Then only they can achieve and they have to believe in themselves that they can do it. They should set goals. Thus with a united team which is fully committed, they can set out to achieve. This is an excellent motto for the team. I hope we can move forward from hereon.
@GNR4LIFE said:While i agree that there wasn't much in it, i have to laugh that everyone who was quick to scoff at this and call it a conspiracy and another case of whinging, were nowhere to be seen a couple days ago when someone posted this.
@Balmainboydug said:Come on this guy rubbed out JT last week with aplomb.
Sooner rather than later we will have most of our Harold Mathews squad going thru the NRL.
Why purchase so called Marquee players with the juniors we have coming on.
Oh thats right their the Balmain Boys…....................pfffft.
Why is that?
Replace the words ''Balmain Boys'' with ''Magpie Boys'', and there would have been half a dozen reacting calling him a dinosaur and telling him to move on. As it stands i think only one person replied, and all that reply was was '?????''
I think this is a good example how people from both sides have never moved on, yet we only ever hear about the dinosaurs from one side. If you're a former Balmain fan and you try to downplay that comment then idk how you can say you've moved on yourself, cos if you had, surely that comment would annoy you just as much as the pro-Magpie ones. And i've been here long enough to know if his name was Magpieboydug and was whinging about the other side, you'd be the first to roll your eyes.
If you really have moved on yourself, be consistent and roll your eyes at people from both sides who show this mentality, not just the other side while ignoring the dinosaurs on the side you came from.
@Russell said:I am finding it hard to make anything of this.
So, some former Balmain fans go to the game, that are now Wests Tigers fans.
For one reason or another - they bought Balmain jumpers years ago, they or their sons played for a Balmain team in the juniors etc. and they can't afford to buy a Wests Tigers jumper (they are not cheap and everyone can't afford to buy one), and they wear it to the game to fly the colours and show their support. Even though the current jumpers are mostly black - the opposition gets the idea.
Probably all the above also applies to the Western Suburbs supporters who are now Wests Tigers supporters and that do a similar thing.
Now a player who grew up watching Balmain, whose father is a Balmain legend who is thanking the fans for their support etc. sees a Balmain jumper and says "nice shirt mate!"
Suddenly all the died in the wool Magpie fans have their nose out of joint according to you. I don't think so. If Teddy did the same thing in reverse I don't think the died in the wool Balmain fans would be upset either. It's a nice shirt - why is there anymore to it than that?
I think you are making too much of a simple comment.
Did the people all around get their nose out of joint? Probably not.
By making this known (innocent comment or not) it has promoted the Balmain / Wests thing again and now there will be a few Forumers that may get their nose out of joint.
We need to stay away from these types of comments - there are a lot of thin skinned supporters who do not need revving up - they can do that themselves.
@Balmainboydug said:Yea we all follow the wests tigers and thats the way it is but why would we buy others to curb the rise of some promising youngsters ? I suppose I have never accepted losing our identity it has been hard. The way most people arsed when JT came in were the driving force behind these kids, were balmain people just makes it go on and on. I suppose being born in Balmain like all my family its just that loyalty thing but fairdinkum it works both ways.My sister was the last kid born in that hospital before it became a geriatric hospital which I worked in for a few years before selling my cheap house in Balmain lol to move my kids to the GC has made me a bitter old twat, nah I digress.I am getting there I have neither united or committed anything since being on the GC.I just watch local junior footy and with KPHS just around the road I see what you don't see until their 18 19 20 so no loss.I am and have always been a junior footy supporter,no need to unite commit just support.I am happy within myself maybe you should just accept my point of view and just move on,no need for rebuttal its just argumentative and unites no one. Cheers.
@GoneEast said:I thought it obvious what 'unite' refers to. I just want to say I'm not trolling. I'm an old Balmain fan who doesn't support the merger. I often check this site as well as others to see what fans have to say about their team. I hate Souths so I was curious to find out WT fans thoughts about today's game. Then I came across this thread. Very interesting. There still seems to be a lot of division. My advice would be support the merger or move on. I couldn't support the merger because there will only be one Tigers team for me. Allegiance problems will continue to arise and I think the only way to overcome it is to look ahead, which means one home ground and a name/logo change. However, that's the problem a merger will face: getting both sides to agree. The Wests/Balmain merger is unprecedented in the Australian RL where two traditional clubs have come together (Saints Illawarra is totally different in my opinion). There will continue to be divided loyalties. I'm sure these issues have been discussed at length both here and elsewhere. Anyway, good luck for today and the rest of the season. I hope for the true WT fans that the merger succeeds.

You couldn't support the merger but you expect others to support the merger
A tad hypocritical , don't you think ??
