UNITE FOR A HALFBACK

From what I saw of Humble for BRET he is a very capable halfback.

The simple fact is it looks like Sheens has decided to ruin Benji's career and try and turn him into an organising halfback

Looks like he's the next in a long line of players being forced to play out of position.
I have been overseas and only last night watched the Titans game.
Already knowing the score you can watch the game through different eyes - without the emotion (well , some of it).
IMO Marshall looked decidely odd and out of sorts when using himself as just a link man.
He really does not look comfortable doing it - surely there has to be another way .
Either go back to Moltzen and move Reddy or Ryan to the back or stick with Humble - who has improved there every game.
Why ruin your best attacking weapon by making him feel uncomfortable?

You'd get none of my money for DCE. What's he done this year, aside from cut thru our left-side defence once - and practically everybody else has done that! Parra did it 4 times in 10 minutes!

I say stick with what we've got. Humble Tom - humble by name, humble by salary.

My favorite and most cleaver post this month. Agree with all in this post, including the wit!

Surely there is some way to make our frustrations about this be heard?

If the club can turn its back on Mason citing fans and sponsors, then surely we as the fan base can express dissatisfaction about not playing a halfback? If others can't see it now they'll sure as heck see it by season's end the way we are travelling, and while many may not be league tragics like us they need have the below spelt out to them;

- Benji at half has been tried before and failed (and ruining his game at the moment).
- (And consequently Lawrence is no 5/8 and that is ruining his game as well).
- Farah at half back has been tried before and failed.
- Farah plays better with a good half back as per City this year with Pearce.
- Benji plays better with a good half back as was seen last year with Lui.
- The team performs better with a good half back as per results with Prince and Lui, allowing our other playmakers to play their better game.

In the end it might be like a lot of things where a fail (such as not making semi-finals) will finally lead to change. Cause from where I'm sitting, without a half back we are not even a blimp on the radar.

I'm sure most fans and sponsors are not happy with that.

I never thought I would say this, but we miss Lui … I used to yell at the TV a lot when he missed tackles, but we are certainly lacking a halfback.

Pity he is a woman basher ...

i for one want to see miller as 1/2, and not just for a few games but for the rest of the season. this guy has plenty of ability with the ball and has a very good kicking and running game. what the tigers need imo is to also get some real speed onto the wings with the two u/20's wingers, koro and nofa, so that there are real options out wide and would take the pressure of not just miller but also benji and robbie in so far as the tigers would then have the option of catch and pass to real speedsters out wide.

i dont buy the ' suspect defence ' scenario as a reason not to pick miller. moltzen could not tackle a ham sandwich yet he is there week in, week out.

c'mon tim be brave and give the three guns from the 20's their much deserved shot at first grade.

its time for the old and the slow to step aside.

The problem isn't that we don't have half-backs

The problem is that none of them are being selected for first-grade.

And when they are selected, they are told to stay out of the way and not play like a halfback should.

Fair call. I'm a Miller fan. I wish he would get a proper run. But then again he is no Cronk, Thurston or DCE.

In relation to earlier posts, if you can seriously compare Humble to DCE then I have to take your opinions with a grain of salt. I suppose we are all different. It's all moot anyway because DCE is not available having recently re-signed with Manly.

Anyway, it's pretty obvious that whatever solution Sheens comes up with, it will be met with derision by a significant number of fans. He certainly won't please everyone (ever).

In that case, can we take a poll on these forums as to who we would prefer as a halfback?
